Siracide 36

JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Aie pitié de nous, maître, Dieu de l'univers, et regarde, répands ta crainte sur toutes lesnations.	1 O God of all, take pity on us, and look with favor on us, and show us the light of your compassion.
2 Lève la main contre les nations étrangères, et qu'elles voient ta puissance.	2 And send your fear upon the Gentiles, who have not sought you, so that they may acknowledge that there is no God except you, and so that they may declare your great deeds.
3 Comme, à leurs yeux, tu t'es montré saint envers nous, de même, à nos yeux, montre-toigrand envers elles.	3 Lift up your hand over unbelieving nations, so that they may see your power.
4 Qu'elles te connaissent, tout comme nous avons connu qu'il n'y a pas d'autre Dieu que toi,Seigneur.	4 For just as, in their sight, you have been sanctified in us, so also, in our sight, you will be magnified in them.
5 Renouvelle les prodiges et fais d'autres miracles, glorifie ta main et ton bras droit.	5 So may they know you, as we also have known you. For there is no God apart from you, O Lord.
6 Réveille ta fureur, déverse ta colère, détruis l'adversaire, anéantis l'ennemi.	6 Renew your signs, and work new wonders.
7 Hâte le temps, souviens-toi du serment, que l'on célèbre tes hauts faits.	7 Glorify your hand and your right arm.
8 Qu'un feu vengeur dévore les survivants, que les oppresseurs de ton peuple soient voués à laruine.	8 Stir up your fury, and pour out your wrath.
9 Brise la tête des chefs étrangers qui disent: "Il n'y a que nous."	9 Take away our adversary, and afflict our enemy.
10 Rassemble toutes les tribus de Jacob, rends-leur leur héritage comme au commencement.	10 Hasten the time, and remember the end, so that they may declare your miracles.
11 Aie pitié, Seigneur, du peuple appelé de ton nom, d'Israël dont tu as fait un premier-né.	11 Let those who escape be devoured by the wrath of fire. And let those who harass your people find perdition.
12 Aie compassion de ta ville sainte, de Jérusalem le lieu de ton repos.	12 Crush the head of the leaders of the enemies, for they say: “There is no other beside us.”
13 Remplis Sion de ta louange et ton sanctuaire de ta gloire.	13 Gather together all the tribes of Jacob, so that they may acknowledge that there is no God except you, and so that they may declare your great deeds. And you will inherit them, as from the beginning.
14 Rends témoignage à tes premières créatures, accomplis les prophéties faites en ton nom.	14 Take pity on your people, over whom your name has been invoked, and on Israel, whom you have treated as your firstborn.
15 Donne satisfaction à ceux qui espèrent en toi, que tes prophètes soient véridiques.	15 Take pity on Jerusalem, the city of your sanctification, the city of your rest.
16 Exauce, Seigneur, la prière de tes serviteurs selon la bénédiction d'Aaron sur ton peuple.	16 Fill Zion with your ineffable words, and fill your people with your glory.
17 Et que tous, sur la terre, reconnaissent que tu es le Seigneur, le Dieu éternel!	17 Give testimony to those who have been your creations from the beginning, and lift up the prophecies which the former prophets spoke in your name.
18 L'estomac accueille toute sorte de nourriture, mais tel aliment est meilleur qu'un autre.	18 Give a reward to those who endure for you, so that your prophets may be found to be faithful. And heed the prayers of your servants,
19 Le palais reconnaît à son goût le gibier, de même le coeur avisé discerne les parolesmensongères.	19 in accord with the blessing of Aaron over your people. And direct us in the way of justice, and let all who inhabit the earth know that you are God, the Beholder of all ages.
20 Un coeur pervers donne du chagrin, l'homme d'expérience le paie de retour.	20 The belly can devour any food, yet one meal is better than another.
21 Une femme accepte n'importe quel mari, mais il y a des filles meilleures que d'autres.	21 The palate tests the meat of wild animals, and the understanding heart tests false words.
22 La beauté d'une femme réjouit le regard, c'est le plus grand de tous les désirs de l'homme.	22 A corrupt heart will cause grief, and a man of experience will resist it.
23 Si la bonté et la douceur sont sur ses lèvres, son mari est le plus heureux des hommes.	23 A woman can receive any male, yet one daughter is better than another.
24 Celui qui acquiert une femme a le principe de la fortune, une aide semblable à lui, unecolonne d'appui.	24 The beauty of a wife cheers the face of her husband, and rises above his desire, above all the desires of man.
25 Faute de clôture le domaine est livré au pillage, sans une femme l'homme gémit et va à ladérive.	25 If she offers healing words, then she both comforts and shows mercy; and so her husband is not like other men.
26 Comment se fier à un voleur de grand chemin qui court de ville en ville?	26 He who holds to a good wife establishes a possession. She is a helper in agreement with him, and she is a pillar of rest.
27 De même à l'homme qui n'a pas de nid, qui s'arrête là où la nuit le surprend.	27 Where there is no hedge, a possession will be trampled. And where there is no wife, he will mourn her absence.
	28 Who will trust one who has no nest, and who conceals himself wherever his course may take him, like a well-equipped robber passing from city to city?
