1 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach den Söhnen Noachs, Sem, Ham und Jafet. Ihnen wurden nach der Flut Söhne geboren.	1 These are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and of the sons who were born to them after the great flood.
2 Die Söhne Jafets sind Gomer, Magog, Madai, Jawan, Tubal, Meschech und Tiras.	2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3 Die Söhne Gomers sind Aschkenas, Rifat und Togarma.	3 And then the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 Die Söhne Jawans sind Elischa, Tarschisch, die Kittäer und die Rodaniter.	4 And the sons of Javan were Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.

9 Er war ein tüchtiger Jäger vor dem Herrn. Deshalb pflegt man zu sagen: Ein tüchtiger Jäger vor dem Herrn wie Nimrod.	9 And he was an able hunter before the Lord. From this, a proverb came forth: ‘Just like Nimrod, an able hunter before the Lord.’
10 Kerngebiet seines Reiches war Babel, Erech, Akkad und Kalne im Land Schinar.	10 And so, the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Erech, and Accad, and Chalanne, in the land of Shinar.
11 Von diesem Land zog er nach Assur aus und erbaute Ninive, Rehobot-Ir, Kelach	11 From that land, Assur came forth, and he built Nineveh, and the streets of the city, and Calah,
12 sowie Resen, zwischen Ninive und Kelach, das ist die große Stadt.	12 and also Resen, between Nineveh and Calah. This is a great city.
13 Ägypten zeugte die Luditer, die Anamiter, die Lehabiter, die Naftuhiter,	13 And truly, Mizraim conceived Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, Naphtuhim,
14 die Patrositer und die Kasluhiter, von denen die Philister abstammen, ferner die Kaftoriter.	14 and Pathrusim, and Casluhim, from whom came forth the Philistines and the Caphtorim.
15 Kanaan zeugte Sidon, seinen Erstgeborenen, und Het,	15 Then Canaan conceived Sidon his firstborn, the Hittite,
16 ferner die Jebusiter, die Amoriter, die Girgaschiter,	16 and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, the Girgashite,
17 die Hiwiter, die Arkiter, die Siniter,	17 the Hivite, and the Arkite: the Sinite,
18 die Arwaditer, die Zemariter und die Hamatiter. Später spalteten sich die Sippenverbände der Kanaaniter.	18 and the Arvadian, the Samarite, and the Hamathite. And after this, the peoples of the Canaanites became widespread.
19 Das Gebiet der Kanaaniter reichte von Sidon, wenn man über Gerar kommt, bis Gaza, wenn man über Sodom, Gomorra, Adma und Zebojim kommt, bis Lescha.	19 And the borders of Chanaan went, as one travels, from Sidon to Gerar, even to Gaza, until one enters Sodom and Gomorrah, and from Admah and Zeboiim, even to Lesa.
20 Das waren die Söhne Hams nach ihren Sippenverbänden, nach ihren Sprachen in ihren Ländern und Völkerschaften.	20 These are the sons of Ham in their kindred, and tongues, and generations, and lands, and nations.
21 Auch Sem wurden Kinder geboren. Er ist der Stammvater aller Söhne Ebers, der ältere Bruder Jafets.	21 Likewise, from Shem, the father of all the sons of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born.
22 Die Söhne Sems sind Elam, Assur, Arpachschad, Lud und Aram.	22 The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
23 Die Söhne Arams sind Uz, Hul, Geter und Masch.	23 The sons of Aram were Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
24 Arpachschad zeugte Schelach, Schelach zeugte Eber.	24 But truly, Arphaxad conceived Shelah, from whom was born Eber.
25 Dem Eber wurden zwei Söhne geboren; der eine hieß Peleg (Teilung), denn zu seiner Zeit wurde das Land geteilt, und sein Bruder hieß Joktan.	25 And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth became divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.
26 Joktan zeugte Almodad, Schelef, Hazarmawet, Jerach,	26 This Joktan conceived Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, Jerah
27 Hadoram, Usal, Dikla,	27 and Hadoram, and Uzal and Diklah,
28 Obal, Abimaël, Scheba,	28 and Obal and Abimael, Sheba
29 Ofir, Hawila und Jobab. Das alles sind Söhne Joktans.	29 and Ophir, and Havilah and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.
30 Ihr Siedlungsgebiet reichte von Mescha, wenn man über Sefar kommt, bis ans Ostgebirge.	30 And their habitation extended from Messa, as one sojourns, even to Sephar, a mountain in the east.
31 Das waren die Söhne Sems nach ihren Sippenverbänden, nach ihren Sprachen in ihren Ländern, nach ihren Völkern.	31 These are the sons of Shem according to their kindred, and tongues, and the regions within their nations.
32 Das waren die Sippenverbände der Söhne Noachs nach ihrer Geschlechterfolge in ihren Völkern. Von ihnen zweigten sich nach der Flut die Völker der Erde ab.	32 These are the families of Noah, according to their peoples and nations. The nations became divided according to these, on the earth after the great flood.
