Ezechiele 15

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Et factus est sermo Domini ad me dicens:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows:
2 “ Fili hominis, quid habet lignum vitis prae omnibus lignis sarmentorum, quae sunt inter ligna silvarum?	2 Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than wood from the branch of a forest tree?
3 Numquid tolletur de ea lignum, ut fiat opus, aut fabricabitur de ea paxillus, ut dependeat in eo quodcumque vas?	3 Is its wood used for making anything? Are pegs on which to hang things made from it?
4 Ecce igni datum est in escam, utramque partem eius consumpsit ignis, et medietas eius adusta est; numquid utile erit ad opus?	4 There it is, thrown on the fire for fuel. The fire burns off both ends; the middle is charred; can it be keptfor anything now?
5 Etiam cum esset integrum, non erat aptum ad opus; quanto magis cum ignis illud devoraverit et combusserit, nihil ex eo fiet operis.	5 While it was intact, you could make nothing with it; burned and charred, is it any more useful now?
6 Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus: Quomodo lignum vitis inter ligna silvarum, quod dedi igni ad devorandum, sic tradam habitatores Ierusalem.	6 So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As the wood of the vine among the forest trees, which I have thrownon the fire for fuel, so shal I treat the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 Et ponam faciem meam in eos: de igne egressi sunt, et ignis consumet eos. Et scietis quia ego Dominus, cum posuero faciem meam in eos	7 I shal set my face against them. They have escaped one fire, but fire wil devour them yet. And youwil know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
8 et dedero terram inviam et desolatam, eo quod praevaricatores exstiterint ”, dicit Dominus Deus.	8 I shal reduce the country to a desert, because of their infidelity- declares the Lord Yahweh.
