Levitico 9

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Facto autem octavo die, vocavit Moyses Aaron et filios eius ac maiores natu Israel dixitque ad Aaron:	1 On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel;
2 “ Tolle de armento vitulum pro peccato et arietem in holocaustum, utrumque immaculatum, et affer illos coram Domino.	2 he said to Aaron, 'Take a calf to offer a sacrifice for sin, and a ram for a burnt offering, both withoutblemish, and bring them before Yahweh.
3 Et ad filios Israel loqueris: "Tollite hircum pro peccato et vitulum atque agnum anniculos et sine macula in holocaustum,	3 Then say to the Israelites, "Take a goat to be offered as a sacrifice for sin, a calf and a lamb one yearold (both without blemish) for a burnt offering,
4 bovem et arietem pro pacificis, et immolate eos coram Domino, et sacrificium similae oleo conspersae: hodie enim Dominus apparebit vobis" ”.	4 a bul and a ram for communion sacrifices to be slaughtered before Yahweh, and a cereal offeringmixed with oil. For Yahweh wil appear to you today." '
5 Tulerunt ergo cuncta, quae iusserat Moyses, ad ostium tabernaculi conventus; ubi, cum omnis coetus accessisset et staret coram Domino,	5 They brought what Moses had ordered in front of the Tent of Meeting; then the whole communityapproached and stood before Yahweh.
6 ait Moyses: “ Iste est sermo, quem praecepit Dominus: facite, et apparebit vobis gloria eius ”.	6 Moses then said, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered you to do, so that his glory may be visible to you.'
7 Dixit et ad Aaron: “ Accede ad altare et immola pro peccato tuo; offer holocaustum et expia te et populum. Et fac hostiam populi et expia eum, sicut praecepit Dominus ”.	7 Moses then addressed Aaron, 'Go to the altar and offer your sacrifice for sin and your burnt offering,and so perform the rite of expiation for yourself and your family. Then present the people's offering and performthe rite of expiation for them, as Yahweh has ordered.'
8 Statimque Aaron accedens ad altare immolavit vitulum pro peccato suo,	8 Aaron went to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sacrifice for his own sin.
9 cuius sanguinem obtulerunt ei filii sui; in quo tinguens digitum tetigit cornua altaris et fudit residuum ad basim eius.	9 Aaron's sons then presented the blood to him; he dipped his finger in it and put some on the horns ofthe altar, and then poured the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar.
10 Adipemque et renunculos ac reticulum iecoris, quae sunt de sacrificio pro peccato, adolevit super altare, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.	10 The fat of the sacrifice for sin and the kidneys and the mass of fat over the liver he burned on the altar,as Yahweh had ordered Moses,
11 Carnes vero et pellem eius extra castra combussit igni.	11 and the meat and the skin he burned outside the camp.
12 Immolavit et holocausti victimam; obtuleruntque ei filii sui sanguinem eius, quem fudit per altaris circuitum.	12 He then slaughtered the burnt offering; Aaron's sons then handed him the blood, which he poured alaround the altar.
13 Ipsam etiam hostiam in frusta concisam cum capite ei obtulerunt, quae omnia super altare cremavit igni;	13 They then handed him the quartered victim and the head, and he burned these on the altar.
14 lavit quoque aqua intestina cruraque et adolevit super holocausto in altari.	14 He then washed the entrails and shins and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.
15 Et applicavit oblationem populi sumensque hircum pro peccato populi mactavit et obtulit in expiationem sicut priorem;	15 He then presented the people's offering. He took the goat for the people's sacrifice for sin, slaughteredit, and made a sacrifice for sin with it in the same way as with the first.
16 fecit quoque holocaustum secundum ritum	16 He then had the burnt offering brought forward and proceeded according to the ritual.
17 et addens sacrificium similae implevit manum ex illa et adolevit super altare praeter holocaustum matutinum.	17 He then had the cereal offering brought forward, took a handful of it and burned it on the altar inaddition to the morning burnt offering.
18 Immolavit et bovem atque arietem, hostias pacificas populi; obtuleruntque ei filii sui sanguinem, quem fudit super altare in circuitu.	18 Then he slaughtered the bul and the ram as a communion sacrifice for the people. Aaron's sonshanded him the blood and he poured it al around the altar.
19 Adipes autem bovis et caudam arietis renunculosque cum adipibus suis et reticulum iecoris	19 The fat of the bul and the ram, the tail, the covering fat, the kidneys, the mass of fat over the liver,
20 posuerunt super pectora; cumque cremati essent adipes in altari,	20 he placed on the ribs and then burned on the altar.
21 pectora eorum et armos dextros Aaron elevavit coram Domino, sicut praeceperat Moyses.	21 With the ribs and the right thigh Aaron made the gesture of offering as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
22 Et elevans Aaron manus ad populum benedixit eis. Sicque, completis hostiis pro peccato et holocaustis et pacificis, descendit.	22 Aaron then raised his hands towards the people and blessed them. Having thus performed thesacrifice for sin, the burnt offering and the communion sacrifice, he came down
23 Ingressi autem Moyses et Aaron tabernaculum conventus et deinceps egressi benedixerunt populo. Apparuitque gloria Domini omni populo;	23 and entered the Tent of Meeting with Moses. Then they came out together to bless the people and theglory of Yahweh appeared to the entire people:
24 et ecce egressus ignis a Domino devoravit holocaustum et adipes, qui erant super altare. Quod cum vidissent turbae, exultaverunt ruentes in facies suas.	24 a flame leapt out from Yahweh's presence and consumed the burnt offering and fat on the altar. At thissight the entire people shouted for joy and fel on their faces.
