1 Hiram re di Tiro mandò anch' egli ambasciadori a David, e dei legnami di cedro, e dei muratori, e dei legnaiuoli, i quali fabbricassero per lui una casa.	1 Also, Hiram, the king of Tyre, sent messengers to David, and cedar wood, and artisans of walls and of wood, so that they might build a house for him.
2 E David conobbe, come il Signore lo avea confermato re d'Israele, e come il suo regno era stato elevato in gloria per bene d'Israele popolo di lui.	2 And David realized that the Lord had confirmed him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom had been lifted up over his people Israel.
3 Davidde sposò anche altre mogli in Gerusalemme, dalle quali ebbe figliuoli,e figliuole.	3 Also, David took other wives in Jerusalem. And he conceived sons and daughters.
4 Ed ecco i nomi di quelli, che nacquero a lui in Gerusalemme: Samua, e Sobad, e Nathan, e Salomon.	4 And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua and Shobab, Nathan and Solomon,
5 Jebaar, ed Elisua, ed Eliphaleth,	5 Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,
6 E Noga, e Napheg, e Japhia,	6 as well as Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7 Elisama, e Baaliada, ed Eliphaleth.	7 Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8 Ma i Filistei avendo udito come David era stato unto re di tutto Israele, si mosser tutti per assalirlo: la qualcosa avendo saputa David, andò loro incontro.	8 Then, hearing that David had been anointed as king over all of Israel, all the Philistines ascended so that they might seek him. But when David had heard of it, he went out to meet them.
9 E i Filistei avanzatisi, si sparsero per la valle di Raphaim.	9 Now the Philistines, arriving, spread out in the Valley of the Rephaim.
10 E Davidde consultò il Signore, e disse: Verrò io a battaglia co' Filistei, e li darai tu nelle mie mani? E il Signore gli disse: Va, io darolli nelle tue mani.	10 And so David consulted the Lord, saying, “Shall I ascend to the Philistines, and will you deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to him, “Ascend, and I will deliver them into your hand.”
11 Ed essendo quelli venuti a Baal-pharasim, David in quel luogo gli sconfisse, e disse: Il Signore ha dissipati per mia mano i miei nemici, come si dissipano le acque: e per questo fu dato a quel luogo il nome di Baal-pharasim.	11 And when they had ascended to Baal-perazim, David struck them there, and he said: “God has divided my enemies by my hand, just as waters are divided.” And therefore the name of that place was called Baal-perazim.
12 E ivi lasciarono i loro dei, i quali Davidde comandò, che fosser dati alle fiamme.	12 And they left behind their gods in that place, and so David ordered them to be burned.
13 Un'altra volta ancora i Filistei fecero un'irruzione, e si sparsero per quella valle.	13 And then, at another time, the Philistines invaded, and they spread out in the valley.
14 E Davidde consultò di nuovo il Signore, e Dio gli disse: Non andar dietro ad essi; ritirati da loro, e anderai ad assalirli dirimpetto ai peri.	14 And again, David consulted God. And God said to him: “You shall not ascend after them. Draw away from them. And you shall come against them opposite the balsam trees.
15 E quando sentirai il romore di uno, che sale sulle cime dei peri, allora ti muoverai per venire alle mani. Perocché Dio si è mosso dinanzi a te, per mettere in iscompiglio il campo de' Filistei.	15 And when you hear a sound approaching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go forth to war. For God has gone forth before you, so that he may strike down the army of the Philistines.”
16 Davidde pertanto fece quel, che gli avea comandato il Signore, e pose in rotta i Filistei, da Gabaon sino a Gazer.	16 Therefore, David did just as God had instructed him. And he struck down the army of the Philistines, from Gibeon as far as Gazera.
17 E la rinomanza di Davidde si sparse per tutti i paesi, e il Signore lo rendette formidabile a tutte le genti.	17 And the name of David became well-known in all the regions. And the Lord placed the fear of him over all the nations.
