1 Disse loro una parabola sulla necessità di pregare sempre, senza stancarsi:	1 Then he told them a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said,
2 "C'era in una città un giudice, che non temeva Dio e non aveva riguardo per nessuno.	2 "There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being.
3 In quella città c'era anche una vedova, che andava da lui e gli diceva: Fammi giustizia contro il mio avversario.	3 And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, 'Render a just decision for me against my adversary.'
4 Per un certo tempo egli non volle; ma poi disse tra sé: Anche se non temo Dio e non ho rispetto di nessuno,	4 For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, 'While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being,
5 poiché questa vedova è così molesta le farò giustizia, perché non venga continuamente a importunarmi".	5 because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.'"
6 E il Signore soggiunse: "Avete udito ciò che dice il giudice disonesto.	6 The Lord said, "Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.
7 E Dio non farà giustizia ai suoi eletti che gridano giorno e notte verso di lui, e li farà a lungo aspettare?	7 Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them?
8 Vi dico che farà loro giustizia prontamente. Ma il Figlio dell'uomo, quando verrà, troverà la fede sulla terra?".	8 I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"
9 Disse ancora questa parabola per alcuni che presumevano di esser giusti e disprezzavano gli altri:	9 He then addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else.
10 "Due uomini salirono al tempio a pregare: uno era fariseo e l'altro pubblicano.	10 "Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.
11 Il fariseo, stando in piedi, pregava così tra sé: O Dio, ti ringrazio che non sono come gli altri uomini, ladri, ingiusti, adùlteri, e neppure come questo pubblicano.	11 The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, 'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity--greedy, dishonest, adulterous--or even like this tax collector.
12 Digiuno due volte la settimana e pago le decime di quanto possiedo.	12 I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.'
13 Il pubblicano invece, fermatosi a distanza, non osava nemmeno alzare gli occhi al cielo, ma si batteva il petto dicendo: O Dio, abbi pietà di me peccatore.	13 But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.'
14 Io vi dico: questi tornò a casa sua giustificato, a differenza dell'altro, perché chi si esalta sarà umiliato e chi si umilia sarà esaltato".	14 I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted."
15 Gli presentavano anche i bambini perché li accarezzasse, ma i discepoli, vedendo ciò, li rimproveravano.	15 People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them, and when the disciples saw this, they rebuked them.
16 Allora Gesù li fece venire avanti e disse: "Lasciate che i bambini vengano a me, non glielo impedite perché a chi è come loro appartiene il regno di Dio.	16 Jesus, however, called the children to himself and said, "Let the children come to me and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 In verità vi dico: Chi non accoglie il regno di Dio come un bambino, non vi entrerà".	17 Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."
18 Un notabile lo interrogò: "Maestro buono, che devo fare per ottenere la vita eterna?".	18 An official asked him this question, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
19 Gesù gli rispose: "Perché mi dici buono? Nessuno è buono, se non uno solo, Dio.	19 Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.
20 Tu conosci i comandamenti: 'Non commettere adulterio, non uccidere, non rubare, non testimoniare il falso, onora tuo padre e tua madre'".	20 You know the commandments, 'You shall not commit adultery; you shall not kill; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother.'"
21 Costui disse: "Tutto questo l'ho osservato fin dalla mia giovinezza".	21 And he replied, "All of these I have observed from my youth."
22 Udito ciò, Gesù gli disse: "Una cosa ancora ti manca: vendi tutto quello che hai, distribuiscilo ai poveri e avrai un tesoro nei cieli; poi vieni e seguimi".	22 When Jesus heard this he said to him, "There is still one thing left for you: sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
23 Ma quegli, udite queste parole, divenne assai triste, perché era molto ricco.	23 But when he heard this he became quite sad, for he was very rich.
24 Quando Gesù lo vide, disse: "Quant'è difficile, per coloro che possiedono ricchezze entrare nel regno di Dio.	24 Jesus looked at him (now sad) and said, "How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!
25 È più facile per un cammello passare per la cruna di un ago che per un ricco entrare nel regno di Dio!".	25 For it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."
26 Quelli che ascoltavano dissero: "Allora chi potrà essere salvato?".	26 Those who heard this said, "Then who can be saved?"
27 Rispose: "Ciò che è impossibile agli uomini, è possibile a Dio".	27 And he said, "What is impossible for human beings is possible for God."
28 Pietro allora disse: "Noi abbiamo lasciato tutte le nostre cose e ti abbiamo seguito".	28 Then Peter said, "We have given up our possessions and followed you."
29 Ed egli rispose: "In verità vi dico, non c'è nessuno che abbia lasciato casa o moglie o fratelli o genitori o figli per il regno di Dio,	29 He said to them, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God
30 che non riceva molto di più nel tempo presente e la vita eterna nel tempo che verrà".	30 who will not receive (back) an overabundant return in this present age and eternal life in the age to come."
31 Poi prese con sé i Dodici e disse loro: "Ecco, noi andiamo a Gerusalemme, e tutto ciò che fu scritto dai profeti riguardo al Figlio dell'uomo si compirà.	31 Then he took the Twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem and everything written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
32 Sarà consegnato ai pagani, schernito, oltraggiato, coperto di sputi	32 He will be handed over to the Gentiles and he will be mocked and insulted and spat upon;
33 e, dopo averlo flagellato, lo uccideranno e il terzo giorno risorgerà".	33 and after they have scourged him they will kill him, but on the third day he will rise."
34 Ma non compresero nulla di tutto questo; quel parlare restava oscuro per loro e non capivano ciò che egli aveva detto.	34 But they understood nothing of this; the word remained hidden from them and they failed to comprehend what he said.
35 Mentre si avvicinava a Gèrico, un cieco era seduto a mendicare lungo la strada.	35 Now as he approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
36 Sentendo passare la gente, domandò che cosa accadesse.	36 and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
37 Gli risposero: "Passa Gesù il Nazareno!".	37 They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
38 Allora incominciò a gridare: "Gesù, figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!".	38 He shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!"
39 Quelli che camminavano avanti lo sgridavano, perché tacesse; ma lui continuava ancora più forte: "Figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!".	39 The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me!"
40 Gesù allora si fermò e ordinò che glielo conducessero. Quando gli fu vicino, gli domandò:	40 Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
41 "Che vuoi che io faccia per te?". Egli rispose: "Signore, che io riabbia la vista".	41 "What do you want me to do for you?" He replied, "Lord, please let me see."
42 E Gesù gli disse: "Abbi di nuovo la vista! La tua fede ti ha salvato".	42 Jesus told him, "Have sight; your faith has saved you."
43 Subito ci vide di nuovo e cominciò a seguirlo lodando Dio. E tutto il popolo, alla vista di ciò, diede lode a Dio.	43 He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
