1 Dopo questi fatti il Signore designò altri settantadue discepoli e li inviò a due a due avanti a sé in ogni città e luogo dove stava per recarsi.	1 After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come.
2 Diceva loro: "La messe è molta, ma gli operai sono pochi. Pregate dunque il padrone della messe perché mandi operai per la sua messe.	2 And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
3 Andate: ecco io vi mando come agnelli in mezzo a lupi;	3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.
4 non portate borsa, né bisaccia, né sandali e non salutate nessuno lungo la strada.	4 Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road.
5 In qualunque casa entriate, prima dite: Pace a questa casa.	5 Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house!'
6 Se vi sarà un figlio della pace, la vostra pace scenderà su di lui, altrimenti ritornerà su di voi.	6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you.
7 Restate in quella casa, mangiando e bevendo di quello che hanno, perché l'operaio è degno della sua mercede. Non passate di casa in casa.	7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house.
8 Quando entrerete in una città e vi accoglieranno, mangiate quello che vi sarà messo dinanzi,	8 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you;
9 curate i malati che vi si trovano, e dite loro: Si è avvicinato a voi il regno di Dio.	9 heal the sick in it and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
10 Ma quando entrerete in una città e non vi accoglieranno, uscite sulle piazze e dite:	10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say,
11 Anche la polvere della vostra città che si è attaccata ai nostri piedi, noi la scuotiamo contro di voi; sappiate però che il regno di Dio è vicino.	11 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off against you; nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.'
12 Io vi dico che in quel giorno Sòdoma sarà trattata meno duramente di quella città.	12 I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
13 Guai a te, Corazin, guai a te, Betsàida! Perché se in Tiro e Sidone fossero stati compiuti i miracoli compiuti tra voi, già da tempo si sarebbero convertiti vestendo il sacco e coprendosi di cenere.	13 "Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Beth-saida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 Perciò nel giudizio Tiro e Sidone saranno trattate meno duramente di voi.	14 But it shall be more tolerable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.
15 E tu, Cafàrnao, 'sarai innalzata fino al cielo? Fino agli inferi sarai precipitata!'	15 And you, Caperna-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.
16 Chi ascolta voi ascolta me, chi disprezza voi disprezza me. E chi disprezza me disprezza colui che mi ha mandato".	16 "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."
17 I settantadue tornarono pieni di gioia dicendo: "Signore, anche i demòni si sottomettono a noi nel tuo nome".	17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!"
18 Egli disse: "Io vedevo satana cadere dal cielo come la folgore.	18 And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19 Ecco, io vi ho dato il potere di camminare sopra i serpenti e gli scorpioni e sopra ogni potenza del nemico; nulla vi potrà danneggiare.	19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you.
20 Non rallegratevi però perché i demòni si sottomettono a voi; rallegratevi piuttosto che i vostri nomi sono scritti nei cieli".	20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
21 In quello stesso istante Gesù esultò nello Spirito Santo e disse: "Io ti rendo lode, Padre, Signore del cielo e della terra, che hai nascosto queste cose ai dotti e ai sapienti e le hai rivelate ai piccoli. Sì, Padre, perché così a te è piaciuto.	21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.
22 Ogni cosa mi è stata affidata dal Padre mio e nessuno sa chi è il Figlio se non il Padre, né chi è il Padre se non il Figlio e colui al quale il Figlio lo voglia rivelare".	22 All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."
23 E volgendosi ai discepoli, in disparte, disse: "Beati gli occhi che vedono ciò che voi vedete.	23 Then turning to the disciples he said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see what you see!
24 Vi dico che molti profeti e re hanno desiderato vedere ciò che voi vedete, ma non lo videro, e udire ciò che voi udite, ma non l'udirono".	24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."
25 Un dottore della legge si alzò per metterlo alla prova: "Maestro, che devo fare per ereditare la vita eterna?".	25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
26 Gesù gli disse: "Che cosa sta scritto nella Legge? Che cosa vi leggi?".	26 He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?"
27 Costui rispose: "'Amerai il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, con tutta la tua anima, con tutta la tua forza' e con tutta la tua mente e 'il prossimo tuo come te stesso'".	27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."
28 E Gesù: "Hai risposto bene; fa' questo e vivrai".	28 And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live."
29 Ma quegli, volendo giustificarsi, disse a Gesù: "E chi è il mio prossimo?".	29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
30 Gesù riprese: "Un uomo scendeva da Gerusalemme a Gèrico e incappò nei briganti che lo spogliarono, lo percossero e poi se ne andarono, lasciandolo mezzo morto.	30 Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 Per caso, un sacerdote scendeva per quella medesima strada e quando lo vide passò oltre dall'altra parte.	31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.
32 Anche un levita, giunto in quel luogo, lo vide e passò oltre.	32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 Invece un Samaritano, che era in viaggio, passandogli accanto lo vide e n'ebbe compassione.	33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion,
34 Gli si fece vicino, gli fasciò le ferite, versandovi olio e vino; poi, caricatolo sopra il suo giumento, lo portò a una locanda e si prese cura di lui.	34 and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 Il giorno seguente, estrasse due denari e li diede all'albergatore, dicendo: Abbi cura di lui e ciò che spenderai in più, te lo rifonderò al mio ritorno.	35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.'
36 Chi di questi tre ti sembra sia stato il prossimo di colui che è incappato nei briganti?".	36 Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?"
37 Quegli rispose: "Chi ha avuto compassione di lui". Gesù gli disse: "Va' e anche tu fa' lo stesso".	37 He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."
38 Mentre erano in cammino, entrò in un villaggio e una donna, di nome Marta, lo accolse nella sua casa.	38 Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 Essa aveva una sorella, di nome Maria, la quale, sedutasi ai piedi di Gesù, ascoltava la sua parola;	39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.
40 Marta invece era tutta presa dai molti servizi. Pertanto, fattasi avanti, disse: "Signore, non ti curi che mia sorella mi ha lasciata sola a servire? Dille dunque che mi aiuti".	40 But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me."
41 Ma Gesù le rispose: "Marta, Marta, tu ti preoccupi e ti agiti per molte cose,	41 But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;
42 ma una sola è la cosa di cui c'è bisogno. Maria si è scelta la parte migliore, che non le sarà tolta".	42 one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her."
