| 1 Efraim mi ha circondato di menzogna e la casa di Israele di tradimento. Anche (Giuda se la spassa continuamente con e rimane fedele alle prostitute. | 1 Ephraim feedeth on the wind, and followeth the burning heat: all the day long he multiplied lies and desolation: and he hath made a covenant with the Assyrians, and carried oil into Egypt. |
| 2 Efraim si pasce di aria, insegue il vento d’oriente tutto il giorno, accumula menzogna e falsità, fanno un patto con l’Assiria e portano unguenti in Egitto. | 2 Therefore there is a judgment of the Lord with Juda, and a visitation for Jacob: he will render to him according to his ways, and according to his devices. |
| 3 Jahve ha una lite con Giuda per punire Giacobbe secondo la sua condotta: lo ricompenserà secondo le sue azioni. | 3 In the womb he supplanted his brother: and by his strength he had success with an angel. |
| 4 Nel seno materno tenne per il calcagno il fratello e nella sua età matura fu forte contro Dio. | 4 And he prevailed over the angel, and was strengthened: he wept, and made supplication to him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us. |
| 5 Lottò contro l’angelo e questi restò superiore, pianse e implorò da lui mercè. A Bethel lo trovò e qui parlò con lui. | 5 Even the Lord the God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial. |
| 6 Jahve è il Dio degli eserciti: Jahve è il suo nome. | 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God : keep mercy and judgment, and hope in thy God always. |
| 7 Tu dunque ti volgerai al tuo Dio: serba amore e rettitudine e spera nel tuo Dio continuamente. | 7 He is like Chanaan, there is a deceitful balance in his hand, he hath loved oppression. |
| 8 Canaan ha in mano bilance false, egli ama defraudare. | 8 And Ephraim said: But yet I am become rich, I have found me an idol: all my labours shall not find me the iniquity that I have committed. |
| 9 Efraim disse: « Eppure sono diventato ricco, mi sono acquistato una sostanza ». Ma tutti i suoi proventi non basterebbero a causa dell’ingiustizia con cui ha peccato. | 9 And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, will yet cause thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the feast. |
| 10 Ora, io, Jahve tuo Dio fino dalla terra d’Egitto, voglio di nuovo farti abitare in capanne come nei giorni della festa. | 10 And I have spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and I have used similitudes by the ministry of the prophets. |
| 11 Parlerò ai profeti, io che: avevo moltiplicato le visioni, e per mezzo dei profeti parlerò con parabole. | 11 If Galaad be an idol, then in vain were they in Galgal offering sacrifices with bullocks: for their altars also are as heaps in the furrows of the field. |
| 12 In Galaad-della-falsità hanno amato. solo la menzogna, in in Galgala hanno fatto sacrifici, ai buoi: certo; i loro altari saranno come mucchi di pietre sui solchi, della campagna. | 12 Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and was a keeper for a wife. |
| 13 Giacobbe fuggì nella campagna di Aram e Israele prestò servizio per una moglie; per una moglie fece il guardiano. | 13 But the Lord by a prophet brought Israel out of Egypt: and he was preserved by a prophet. |
| 14 Per mezzo di un profeta Jahve fece uscire dall’Egitto: Israele e questo per il profeta fu protetto: | 14 Ephraim hath provoked me to wrath with his bitterness, and his blood shall come upon him, and his Lord will render his reproach unto him. |
| 15 Efraim lo provocò a sdegno amaramente, perciò il suo sangue sarà versato su di lui e il suo Signore gli renderà il suo obbrobrio. | |
