JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 O mort, quelle amertume que ta pensée pour l'homme qui vit heureux et au milieu de sesbiens, pour l'homme arrivé à qui tout réussit et qui peut encore goûter la nourriture.	1 O death, how bitter is the memory of you: to a man who has peace in his substance,
2 O mort, ta sentence est la bienvenue pour l'homme misérable et privé de ses forces, pour levieillard usé, agité de soucis, révolté et à bout de patience.	2 to a quiet man, and to him whose ways are directed properly in all things, and who still has the strength to take nourishment.
3 Ne redoute pas l'arrêt de la mort, souviens-toi de ceux d'avant toi et de ceux d'après toi.	3 O death, your judgment is good to the indigent man, and to him whose strength has diminished,
4 C'est la loi que le Seigneur a portée sur toute chair; pourquoi se révolter contre le bon plaisirdu Très-Haut? Que tu vives dix ans, cent ans, mille ans, au shéol on ne te reprochera pas ta vie.	4 who is failing due to old age, and who is anxious about all things, and to the unbelieving man who has lost patience.
5 De méchants garnements, tels sont les fils des pécheurs, ceux qui hantent les maisons desimpies.	5 Do not choose to dread the judgment of death. Remember the things that occurred before you, and the things that will occur after you. This judgment is from the Lord upon all flesh.
6 L'héritage des fils des pécheurs va à la ruine, leur postérité est l'objet d'un continuelreproche.	6 And what will happen to you is well-pleasing to the Most High, whether in ten, or one hundred, or one thousand years.
7 Un père impie est insulté par ses enfants, car c'est de lui qu'ils tiennent le déshonneur.	7 For death is no indictment of life.
8 Malheur à vous, impies, qui avez délaissé la loi du Dieu Très-Haut.	8 The sons of sinners, and those who pass their time in the manner of the houses of the impious, become sons of abominations.
9 A votre naissance vous ne naissez que pour la malédiction; à votre mort la malédiction serapour vous.	9 The inheritance of the sons of sinners will perish, and continual disgrace will be with their offspring.
10 Tout ce qui vient de la terre retourne à la terre, ainsi vont les impies de la malédiction à laruine.	10 The sons of an impious father will complain, for they are in disgrace because of him.
11 Le deuil des hommes s'adresse à leurs dépouilles mais le nom maudit des pécheurss'efface.	11 Woe to you, impious men, who have abandoned the law of the Most High Lord!
12 Aie souci de ton nom, car il te restera bien mieux que mille fortunes en or.	12 And when you are born, you will be born into a curse; and when you die, your portion will be in a curse.
13 Une vie heureuse dure un certain nombre de jours, mais un nom honoré demeure à jamais.	13 All things that are from the earth shall return to the earth. Similarly, the impious will proceed from a curse unto perdition.
14 Mes enfants, gardez en paix mes instructions. Sagesse cachée et trésor invisible, à quoicela peut-il servir?	14 The grieving of men is in their body, but the name of the impious will be wiped away.
15 Mieux vaut un homme qui cache sa folie qu'un homme qui cache sa sagesse.	15 Have concern for your good name. For this will continue with you, more so than a thousand precious and great treasures.
16 Ainsi donc éprouvez la honte selon ce que je vais dire, car il n'est pas bon de se plier àtoute espèce de honte et tout n'est pas exactement apprécié de tous.	16 A good life has its number of days, but a good name will continue forever.
17 Ayez honte de la débauche devant un père et une mère et du mensonge devant un chef etun puissant;	17 Sons, practice discipline peacefully. For what use is there in either concealed wisdom, or undiscovered treasure?
18 du délit devant un juge et un magistrat et de l'impiété devant l'assemblée du peuple;	18 Better is the man who hides his foolishness than the man who hides his wisdom.
19 de la perfidie devant un compagnon ou un ami et du vol devant ton village;	19 Yet truly, have respect for these things which proceed from my mouth.
20 devant la vérité de Dieu et l'alliance, aie honte de plier les coudes à table,	20 For it is not good to observe every reverence. And all things do not please all persons in their beliefs.
21 de l'affront en recevant ou en donnant, de rester sans réponse devant ceux qui te saluent,	21 Have shame of these things: of fornication before father and mother, and of a lie before the first leader and the powerful,
22 d'arrêter ton regard sur une prostituée, de repousser ton compatriote,	22 of a crime before a ruler or a judge, of iniquity before a congregation or a people,
23 de t'approprier la part d'un autre ou le cadeau qui lui est fait, de regarder une femme enpuissance de mari,	23 of injustice before a companion or a friend, and of the place in which you live,
24 d'avoir des privautés avec une servante, -- ne t'approche pas de son lit! --	24 of theft, and of the truth before God, and of the covenant, of reclining to eat bread, and of deceitfulness in giving or receiving,
25 d'avoir des paroles blessantes devant tes amis, -- après avoir donné ne fais pas dereproches! --	25 of silence before those who greet you, of looking upon a woman of fornication, and of averting your face from a relative.
26 de répéter ce que tu entends dire et de révéler les secrets.	26 You should not avert your face from your neighbor, nor should you take away a portion and not restore it.
27 Alors tu connaîtras la véritable honte et tu trouveras grâce devant tous les hommes.	27 You should not stare at another man’s wife, and nor pursue his handmaid, nor approach her bed.
	28 Avoid reproachful speeches before friends, and when you give, you should not place blame.
