¹ Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.	¹ Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright.
² Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.	² Praise the LORD with the lyre, make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
³ Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.	³ Sing to him a new song, play skilfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
⁴ The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.	⁴ For the word of the LORD is upright; and all his work is done in faithfulness.
⁵ He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.	⁵ He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.
⁶ By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.	⁶ By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.
⁷ He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.	⁷ He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle; he put the deeps in storehouses.
⁸ Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;	⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD, let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
⁹ for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!	⁹ For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood forth.
¹⁰ Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;	¹⁰ The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nought; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
¹¹ but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.	¹¹ The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
¹² How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.	¹² Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
¹³ From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,	¹³ The LORD looks down from heaven, he sees all the sons of men;
¹⁴ from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;	¹⁴ from where he sits enthroned he looks forth on all the inhabitants of the earth,
¹⁵ he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.	¹⁵ he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds.
¹⁶ A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;	¹⁶ A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
¹⁷ it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.	¹⁷ The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save.
¹⁸ But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,	¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,
¹⁹ to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.	¹⁹ that he may deliver their soul from death, and keep them alive in famine.
²⁰ We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,	²⁰ Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and shield.
²¹ for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.	²¹ Yea, our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.
²² Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.	²² Let thy steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in thee.
