Psalms 33

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.	1 רַנְּנוּ צַדִּיקִים בַּיהוָה לַיְשָׁרִים נָאוָה תְהִלָּה
2 Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.	2 הֹודוּ לַיהוָה בְּכִנֹּור בְּנֵבֶל עָשֹׂור זַמְּרוּ־לֹו
3 Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.	3 שִׁירוּ־לֹו שִׁיר חָדָשׁ הֵיטִיבוּ נַגֵּן בִּתְרוּעָה
4 The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.	4 כִּי־יָשָׁר דְּבַר־יְהוָה וְכָל־מַעֲשֵׂהוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָה
5 He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.	5 אֹהֵב צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט חֶסֶד יְהוָה מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ
6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.	6 בִּדְבַר יְהוָה שָׁמַיִם נַעֲשׂוּ וּבְרוּחַ פִּיו כָּל־צְבָאָם
7 He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.	7 כֹּנֵס כַּנֵּד מֵי הַיָּם נֹתֵן בְּאֹצָרֹות תְּהֹומֹות
8 Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;	8 יִירְאוּ מֵיְהוָה כָּל־הָאָרֶץ מִמֶּנּוּ יָגוּרוּ כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל
9 for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!	9 כִּי הוּא אָמַר וַיֶּהִי הוּא־צִוָּה וַיַּעֲמֹד
10 Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;	10 יְהוָה הֵפִיר עֲצַת־גֹּויִם הֵנִיא מַחְשְׁבֹות עַמִּים
11 but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.	11 עֲצַת יְהוָה לְעֹולָם תַּעֲמֹד מַחְשְׁבֹות לִבֹּו לְדֹר וָדֹר
12 How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.	12 אַשְׁרֵי הַגֹּוי אֲשֶׁר־יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו הָעָם ׀ בָּחַר לְנַחֲלָה לֹו
13 From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,	13 מִשָּׁמַיִם הִבִּיט יְהוָה רָאָה אֶת־כָּל־בְּנֵי הָאָדָם
14 from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;	14 מִמְּכֹון־שִׁבְתֹּו הִשְׁגִּיחַ אֶל כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ
15 he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.	15 הַיֹּצֵר יַחַד לִבָּם הַמֵּבִין אֶל־כָּל־מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם
16 A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;	16 אֵין־הַמֶּלֶךְ נֹושָׁע בְּרָב־חָיִל גִּבֹּור לֹא־יִנָּצֵל בְּרָב־כֹּחַ
17 it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.	17 שֶׁקֶר הַסּוּס לִתְשׁוּעָה וּבְרֹב חֵילֹו לֹא יְמַלֵּט
18 But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,	18 הִנֵּה עֵין יְהוָה אֶל־יְרֵאָיו לַמְיַחֲלִים לְחַסְדֹּו
19 to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.	19 לְהַצִּיל מִמָּוֶת נַפְשָׁם וּלְחַיֹּותָם בָּרָעָב
20 We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,	20 נַפְשֵׁנוּ חִכְּתָה לַיהוָה עֶזְרֵנוּ וּמָגִנֵּנוּ הוּא
21 for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.	21 כִּי־בֹו יִשְׂמַח לִבֵּנוּ כִּי בְשֵׁם קָדְשֹׁו בָטָחְנוּ
22 Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.	22 יְהִי־חַסְדְּךָ יְהוָה עָלֵינוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר יִחַלְנוּ לָךְ
	23 נִטְּשׁוּ חֲבָלָיִךְ בַּל־יְחַזְּקוּ כֵן־תָּרְנָם בַּל־פָּרְשׂוּ נֵס אָז חֻלַּק עַד־שָׁלָל מַרְבֶּה פִּסְחִים בָּזְזוּ בַז
	24 וּבַל־יֹאמַר שָׁכֵן חָלִיתִי הָעָם הַיֹּשֵׁב בָּהּ נְשֻׂא עָוֹן
