1 Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.	1 (Di David: quando si contraffece davanti ad Achimelec, e, da lui licenziato, se ne andò).
2 Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.	2 Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo, ed avrò sempre la sua lode nella mia bocca.
3 Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.	3 L'anima mia si glorierà nel Signore: lo sentanogli umili e si rallegrino.
4 The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.	4 Magnificate meco il Signore, esaltiamo insieme il suo nome.
5 He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.	5 Ho cercato il Signore ed Egli m'ha esaudito, m'ha liberato da tutte le mie tribolazioni.
6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.	6 Accostatevi a lui e sarete illuminati, e i vostri volti non avran da arrossire.
7 He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.	7 Questo disgraziato alzò le grida, e il Signore l'esaudì, lo liberò da tutte le sue tribolazioni.
8 Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;	8 L'angelo del Signore si slancia intorno a quelli che lo temono e li salva.
9 for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!	9 Gustate e vedete quanto è soave il Signore! Beato l'uomo che spera in lui!
10 Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;	10 Temete il Signore voi tutti, o santi suoi, perchè nulla manca a coloro che lo temono.
11 but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.	11 I ricchi si trovan nel bisogno e patiscono la fame, ma chi cerca il Signore non è privo d'alcun bene.
12 How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.	12 Venite, figli, ascoltatemi: io v'insegnerò il timor del Signore.
13 From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,	13 Chi è che brama la vita e desidera vedere dei giorni lieti?
14 from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;	14 Preserva la tua lingua dal male, e i tuoi labbri non parlino con inganno.
15 he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.	15 Evita il male e fa il bene, cerca la pace e seguila.
16 A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;	16 Gli occhi del Signore sopra i giusti, le sue orecchie sono intente alle loro preghiere.
17 it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.	17 Ma la faccia del Signore è sopra quelli che fanno il male, per disperdere dal mondo la loro memoria.
18 But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,	18 I giusti alzano le grida, e il Signore li ascolta e li libera da tutte le tribolazioni.
19 to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.	19 Il Signore sta vicino a quelli che hanno il cuore afflitto, e salva gli umili di spirito.
20 We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,	20 Molte le tribolazioni dei giusti, ma da tutte li libera il Signore.
21 for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.	21 Egli ha cura di tutti i loro ossi: neppure uno di essi sarà spezzato.
22 Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.	22 La morte dei peccatori è orribile, e quelli che odiano il giusto ne porteran la pena.
	23 Il Signore riscatta le anime dei suoi servi: non avran pena tutti quelli che sperano in Lui.
