Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.1 To David, when he changed his appearance in the sight of Abimelech, and so he dismissed him, and he went away.
Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.2 I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise will be ever in my mouth.
Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.3 In the Lord, my soul will be praised. May the meek listen and rejoice.
The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.4 Magnify the Lord with me, and let us extol his name in itself.
He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.5 I sought the Lord, and he heeded me, and he carried me away from all my tribulations.
By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.6 Approach him and be enlightened, and your faces will not be confounded.
He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.7 This poor one cried out, and the Lord heeded him, and he saved him from all his tribulations.
Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;8 The Angel of the Lord will encamp around those who fear him, and he will rescue them.
for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!9 Taste and see that the Lord is sweet. Blessed is the man who hopes in him.
Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;10 Fear the Lord, all you his saints. For there is no destitution for those who fear him.
but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.11 The rich have been needy and hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not be deprived of any good thing.
How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.12 Come forward, sons. Listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,13 Which is the man who wills life, who chooses to see good days?
from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;14 Prohibit your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.
he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.15 Turn away from evil, and do good. Inquire about peace, and pursue it.
A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;16 The eyes of the Lord are on the just, and his ears are with their prayers.
it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.17 But the countenance of the Lord is upon those who do evil, to perish the remembrance of them from the earth.
But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,18 The just cried out, and the Lord heard them, and he freed them from all their tribulations.
to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.19 The Lord is near to those who are troubled in heart, and he will save the humble in spirit.
We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,20 Many are the afflictions of the just, but from them all the Lord will free them.
for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.21 The Lord preserves all of their bones, not one of them shall be broken.
Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.22 The death of a sinner is very harmful, and those who hate the just will fare badly.
The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants, and none of those who hope in him will fare badly.
