1 Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.	1 - Di David, quando mutò il suo volto in presenza di Achimelech, e cacciato da costui se n'andò.
2 Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.	2 Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo, sempre la sua lode sarà sulla mia bocca.
3 Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.	3 Nel Signore si glorierà l'anima mia: odano gli afflitti e si rallegrino.
4 The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.	4 Magnificate il Signore con me, ed esaltiamo il suo nome insieme.
5 He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.	5 Ho cercato il Signore e m'ha esaudito, e da tutte le mie ambasce m'ha liberato.
6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.	6 Accostatevi a lui e sarete illuminati, e i vostri volti non arrossiranno.
7 He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.	7 Questo miserello gridò, e il Signore l'ha esaudito, e da tutte le sue angustie l'ha liberato.
8 Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;	8 S'accampa l'angelo del Signoreattorno a quei che lo temono e li salva.
9 for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!	9 Gustate e vedete com'è soave il Signore: beato l'uomo che spera [e si rifugia] in lui.
10 Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;	10 Temete il Signore, o voi tutti suoi fedeli, perchè nulla manca a color che lo temono.
11 but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.	11 Ricchi cadono in miseria e patiscon la fame; ma chi cerca il Signore non è privo di bene alcuno.
12 How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.	12 Venite, figliuoli, ascoltatemi: il timor del Signore io v'insegnerò.
13 From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,	13 Qual è l'uomo che ama la vitae brama veder giorni felici?
14 from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;	14 Tieni lontana la tua lingua dal male e le tue labbra dal parlar con frode.
15 he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.	15 Allontànati dal male e fa' il bene, cerca la pace e corrile dietro.
16 A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;	16 Gli occhi del Signore [son rivolti] ai giustie i suoi orecchi alle suppliche loro.
17 it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.	17 Ma la faccia del Signore [sta fissa] su quei che fanno il male, per sterminar dalla terra la loro memoria.
18 But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,	18 Gridano i giusti e il Signore gli ascolta, e da tutte le loro tribolazioni li libera.
19 to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.	19 Vicino è il Signore ai tribolati di cuore, e gli affranti di spirito ei salva.
20 We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,	20 Molte le tribolazioni de' giusti; ma da tutte li libera il Signore.
21 for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.	21 Ha cura il Signore di tutte le loro ossa: neppur uno non ne sarà spezzato.
22 Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.	22 La morte de' peccatori è orribile, e quelli che odiano il giusto saran colpiti.
	23 Riscatta il Signore l'anima de' suoi servi, e non saran colpiti quanti sperano in lui.
