Psalms 105

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, cal on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!	1 הודו ליהוה קראו בשמו הודיעו בעמים עלילותיו
2 Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!	2 שירו לו זמרו לו שיחו בכל נפלאותיו
3 Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!	3 התהללו בשם קדשו ישמח לב מבקשי יהוה
4 Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence!	4 דרשו יהוה ועזו בקשו פניו תמיד
5 Remember the marvels he has done, his wonders, the judgements he has spoken.	5 זכרו נפלאותיו אשר עשה מפתיו ומשפטי פיו
6 Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!	6 זרע אברהם עבדו בני יעקב בחיריו
7 He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world.	7 הוא יהוה אלהינו בכל הארץ משפטיו
8 He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,	8 זכר לעולם בריתו דבר צוה לאלף דור
9 which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.	9 אשר כרת את אברהם ושבועתו לישחק
10 He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant with Israel,	10 ויעמידה ליעקב לחק לישראל ברית עולם
11 saying, 'To you I give a land, Canaan, your allotted birthright.'	11 לאמר לך אתן את ארץ כנען חבל נחלתכם
12 When they were insignificant in numbers, a handful of strangers in the land,	12 בהיותם מתי מספר כמעט וגרים בה
13 wandering from country to country, from one kingdom and nation to another,	13 ויתהלכו מגוי אל גוי מממלכה אל עם אחר
14 he al owed no one to oppress them; for their sake he instructed kings,	14 לא הניח אדם לעשקם ויוכח עליהם מלכים
15 'Do not touch my anointed ones, to my prophets you may do no harm.'	15 אל תגעו במשיחי ולנביאי אל תרעו
16 He cal ed down famine on the land, he took away their food supply;	16 ויקרא רעב על הארץ כל מטה לחם שבר
17 he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.	17 שלח לפניהם איש לעבד נמכר יוסף
18 So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons.	18 ענו בכבל רגליו ברזל באה נפשו
19 In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.	19 עד עת בא דברו אמרת יהוה צרפתהו
20 The king sent orders to release him, the ruler of nations set him free;	20 שלח מלך ויתירהו משל עמים ויפתחהו
21 he put him in charge of his household, the ruler of al he possessed,	21 שמו אדון לביתו ומשל בכל קנינו
22 to instruct his princes as he saw fit, to teach his counsel ors wisdom.	22 לאסר שריו בנפשו וזקניו יחכם
23 Then Israel migrated to Egypt, Jacob settled in the country of Ham.	23 ויבא ישראל מצרים ויעקב גר בארץ חם
24 He made his people increase in numbers, he gave them more strength than their enemies,	24 ויפר את עמו מאד ויעצמהו מצריו
25 whose heart he turned to hate his own people, to double-cross his servants.	25 הפך לבם לשנא עמו להתנכל בעבדיו
26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, the man of his choice.	26 שלח משה עבדו אהרן אשר בחר בו
27 They worked there the wonders he commanded, marvels in the country of Ham.	27 שמו בם דברי אתותיו ומפתים בארץ חם
28 Darkness he sent, and darkness fel , but that nation defied his orders.	28 שלח חשך ויחשך ולא מרו את דבריו
29 He turned their rivers to blood, and kil ed al the fish in them.	29 הפך את מימיהם לדם וימת את דגתם
30 Their country was overrun with frogs, even in the royal apartments;	30 שרץ ארצם צפרדעים בחדרי מלכיהם
31 at his word came flies, and mosquitoes throughout the country.	31 אמר ויבא ערב כנים בכל גבולם
32 He gave them hail as their rain, flames of fire in their land;	32 נתן גשמיהם ברד אש להבות בארצם
33 he blasted their vine and their fig tree, and shattered the trees of the country.	33 ויך גפנם ותאנתם וישבר עץ גבולם
34 At his word came locusts, hoppers beyond al counting;	34 אמר ויבא ארבה וילק ואין מספר
35 they devoured every green thing in the land, devoured al the produce of the soil.	35 ויאכל כל עשב בארצם ויאכל פרי אדמתם
36 He struck al the first-born in their land, the flower of all their manhood;	36 ויך כל בכור בארצם ראשית לכל אונם
37 he led Israel out with silver and gold; in their tribes there was none who stumbled.	37 ויוציאם בכסף וזהב ואין בשבטיו כושל
38 Egypt was glad at their leaving, for terror of Israel had seized them.	38 שמח מצרים בצאתם כי נפל פחדם עליהם
39 He spread out a cloud to cover them, and fire to light up the night.	39 פרש ענן למסך ואש להאיר לילה
40 They asked and he brought them quails, food from heaven to their hearts' content;	40 שאל ויבא שלו ולחם שמים ישביעם
41 he opened a rock, the waters gushed out, and flowed in dry ground as a river.	41 פתח צור ויזובו מים הלכו בציות נהר
42 Faithful to his sacred promise, given to his servant Abraham,	42 כי זכר את דבר קדשו את אברהם עבדו
43 he led out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.	43 ויוצא עמו בששון ברנה את בחיריו
44 He gave them the territories of nations, they reaped the fruit of other people's labours,	44 ויתן להם ארצות גוים ועמל לאמים יירשו
45 on condition that they kept his statutes, and remained obedient to his laws.	45 בעבור ישמרו חקיו ותורתיו ינצרו הללו יה
