NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, cal on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!	1 CELEBRATE il Signore; predicate il suo Nome; Fate assapere i suoi fatti fra i popoli.
2 Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!	2 Cantategli, salmeggiategli, Ragionate di tutte le sue maraviglie.
3 Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!	3 Gloriatevi nel Nome della sua santità; Rallegrisi il cuor di coloro che cercano il Signore.
4 Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence!	4 Cercate il Signore, e la sua forza; Cercate del continuo la sua faccia.
5 Remember the marvels he has done, his wonders, the judgements he has spoken.	5 Ricordate le sue maraviglie ch’egli ha fatte; I suoi miracoli e i giudicii della sua bocca;
6 Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!	6 O voi, progenie d’Abrahamo, suo servitore; Figliuoli di Giacobbe, suoi eletti.
7 He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world.	7 Egli è il Signore Iddio nostro; I suoi giudicii son per tutta la terra
8 He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,	8 Egli si ricorda in eterno del suo patto, E in mille generazioni della parola ch’egli ha comandata;
9 which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.	9 Del suo patto, ch’egli fece con Abrahamo; E del suo giuramento, ch’egli fece ad Isacco;
10 He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant with Israel,	10 Il quale egli confermò a Giacobbe per istatuto, E ad Israele per patto eterno;
11 saying, 'To you I give a land, Canaan, your allotted birthright.'	11 Dicendo: Io ti darò il paese di Canaan, Per sorte della vostra eredità.
12 When they were insignificant in numbers, a handful of strangers in the land,	12 Quantunque fosser ben poca gente, E forestieri in esso.
13 wandering from country to country, from one kingdom and nation to another,	13 E mentre essi andavano da una gente ad un’altra, Da un regno ad un altro popolo,
14 he al owed no one to oppress them; for their sake he instructed kings,	14 Egli non permise che alcuno li oppressasse; Anzi gastigò eziandio dei re per amor loro,
15 'Do not touch my anointed ones, to my prophets you may do no harm.'	15 E disse: Non toccate i miei unti, E non fate alcun male a’ miei profeti.
16 He cal ed down famine on the land, he took away their food supply;	16 Poi egli chiamò la fame sopra la terra; E ruppe tutto il sostegno del pane.
17 he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.	17 Egli aveva mandato dinanzi a loro un uomo, Cioè Giuseppe, che fu venduto per servo;
18 So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons.	18 I cui piedi furono serrati ne’ ceppi; La cui persona fu messa ne’ ferri.
19 In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.	19 La parola del Signore lo tenne al cimento, Fino al tempo che venne ciò ch’egli aveva detto.
20 The king sent orders to release him, the ruler of nations set him free;	20 Allora il re mandò a farlo sciorre; Il dominator di popoli mandò a largheggiarlo.
21 he put him in charge of his household, the ruler of al he possessed,	21 Egli lo costituì padrone sopra la sua casa, E rettore sopra tutto il suo stato;
22 to instruct his princes as he saw fit, to teach his counsel ors wisdom.	22 Per tenere a freno i suoi principi a suo senno; E per dare ammaestramento a’ suoi anziani.
23 Then Israel migrated to Egypt, Jacob settled in the country of Ham.	23 Poi Israele entrò in Egitto; E Giacobbe dimorò come forestiere nel paese di Cam.
24 He made his people increase in numbers, he gave them more strength than their enemies,	24 E Iddio fece grandemente moltiplicare il suo popolo; E lo rendè più possente che i suoi nemici
25 whose heart he turned to hate his own people, to double-cross his servants.	25 Egli rivolse il cuor loro a odiare il suo popolo, A macchinar frode contro a’ suoi servitori.
26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, the man of his choice.	26 Egli mandò Mosè, suo servitore; Ed Aaronne, il quale egli aveva eletto.
27 They worked there the wonders he commanded, marvels in the country of Ham.	27 Essi eseguirono fra loro i miracoli ch’egli aveva loro detti, E i suoi prodigi nella terra di Cam.
28 Darkness he sent, and darkness fel , but that nation defied his orders.	28 Egli mandò le tenebre, e fece oscurar l’aria; Ed essi non furono ribelli alle sue parole.
29 He turned their rivers to blood, and kil ed al the fish in them.	29 Egli cangiò le acque loro in sangue, E fece morire il lor pesce.
30 Their country was overrun with frogs, even in the royal apartments;	30 La terra loro produsse rane, Ch’entrarono fin nelle camere de’ loro re.
31 at his word came flies, and mosquitoes throughout the country.	31 Alla sua parola venne una mischia d’insetti, E pidocchi in tutte le lor contrade.
32 He gave them hail as their rain, flames of fire in their land;	32 Egli mutò le lor pioggie in gragnuola, E in fuoco divampante nel lor paese;
33 he blasted their vine and their fig tree, and shattered the trees of the country.	33 E percosse le lor vigne, e i lor fichi; E fracassò gli alberi della lor contrada.
34 At his word came locusts, hoppers beyond al counting;	34 Alla sua parola vennero locuste, E bruchi senza numero;
35 they devoured every green thing in the land, devoured al the produce of the soil.	35 Che rosero tutta l’erba nel lor paese, E mangiarono il frutto della lor terra.
36 He struck al the first-born in their land, the flower of all their manhood;	36 Poi egli percosse ogni primogenito nel lor paese, Le primizie d’ogni lor forza.
37 he led Israel out with silver and gold; in their tribes there was none who stumbled.	37 E condusse fuori Israele con oro e con argento; E non vi fu alcuno, fra le sue tribù, che fosse fiacco.
38 Egypt was glad at their leaving, for terror of Israel had seized them.	38 Gli Egizi si rallegrarono della lor partita; Perciocchè lo spavento di essi era caduto sopra loro.
39 He spread out a cloud to cover them, and fire to light up the night.	39 Egli distese la nuvola, per coverta; Ed accese un fuoco, per alluminarli di notte.
40 They asked and he brought them quails, food from heaven to their hearts' content;	40 Alla lor richiesta egli addusse delle quaglie, E li saziò del pane del cielo.
41 he opened a rock, the waters gushed out, and flowed in dry ground as a river.	41 Egli aperse la roccia, e ne colarono acque; Rivi corsero per i luoghi aridi.
42 Faithful to his sacred promise, given to his servant Abraham,	42 Perciocchè egli si ricordò della parola della sua santità, Detta ad Abrahamo, suo servitore;
43 he led out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.	43 E trasse fuori il suo popolo con allegrezza, E i suoi eletti con giubilo;
44 He gave them the territories of nations, they reaped the fruit of other people's labours,	44 E diede loro i paesi delle genti; Ed essi possedettero le fatiche de’ popoli;
45 on condition that they kept his statutes, and remained obedient to his laws.	45 Acciocchè osservassero i suoi statuti, E guardassero le sue leggi. Alleluia
