NEW JERUSALEMDOUAI-RHEIMS
Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, cal on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!1 Alleluia. Give glory to the Lord, and call upon his name: declare his deeds among the Gentiles.
Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!2 Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: relate all his wondrous works.
Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence!4 Seek ye the Lord, and be strengthened: seek his face evermore.
Remember the marvels he has done, his wonders, the judgements he has spoken.5 Remember his marvellous works which he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.
Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant; ye sons of Jacob his chosen.
He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world.7 He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever: the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.9 Which he made to Abraham; and his oath to Isaac:
He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant with Israel,10 And he appointed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting testament:
saying, 'To you I give a land, Canaan, your allotted birthright.'11 Saying: To thee will I give the land of Chanaan, the lot of your inheritance.
When they were insignificant in numbers, a handful of strangers in the land,12 When they were but a small number: yea very few, and sojourners therein:
wandering from country to country, from one kingdom and nation to another,13 And they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people.
he al owed no one to oppress them; for their sake he instructed kings,14 He suffered no man to hurt them: and he reproved kings for their sakes.
'Do not touch my anointed ones, to my prophets you may do no harm.'15 Touch ye not my anointed: and do no evil to my prophets.
He cal ed down famine on the land, he took away their food supply;16 And he called a famine upon the land: and he broke in pieces all the support of bread.
he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.17 He sent a man before them: Joseph, who was sold for a slave.
So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons.18 They humbled his feet in fetters: the iron pierced his soul,
In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.19 until his word came. The word of the Lord inflamed him.
The king sent orders to release him, the ruler of nations set him free;20 The king sent, and he released him: the ruler of the people, and he set him at liberty.
he put him in charge of his household, the ruler of al he possessed,21 He made him master of his house, and ruler of all his possession.
to instruct his princes as he saw fit, to teach his counsel ors wisdom.22 That he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his ancients wisdom.
Then Israel migrated to Egypt, Jacob settled in the country of Ham.23 And Israel went into Egypt: and Jacob was a sojourner in the land of Cham.
He made his people increase in numbers, he gave them more strength than their enemies,24 And he increased his people exceedingly: and strengthened them over their enemies,
whose heart he turned to hate his own people, to double-cross his servants.25 He turned their heart to hate his people: and to deal deceitfully with his servants.
He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, the man of his choice.26 He sent Moses his servant: Aaron the man whom he had chosen.
They worked there the wonders he commanded, marvels in the country of Ham.27 He gave them power to shew his signs, and his wonders in the land of Cham.
Darkness he sent, and darkness fel , but that nation defied his orders.28 He sent darkness, and made it obscure: and grieved not his words.
He turned their rivers to blood, and kil ed al the fish in them.29 He turned their waters into blood, and destroyed their fish.
Their country was overrun with frogs, even in the royal apartments;30 Their land brought forth frogs, in the inner chambers of their kings.
at his word came flies, and mosquitoes throughout the country.31 He spoke, and there came divers sorts of flies and sciniphs in all their coasts.
He gave them hail as their rain, flames of fire in their land;32 He gave them hail for rain, a burning fire in the land.
he blasted their vine and their fig tree, and shattered the trees of the country.33 And he destroyed their vineyards and their fig trees: and he broke in pieces the trees of their coasts.
At his word came locusts, hoppers beyond al counting;34 He spoke, and the locust came, and the bruchus, of which there was no number.
they devoured every green thing in the land, devoured al the produce of the soil.35 And they devoured all the grass in their land, and consumed all the fruit of their ground.
He struck al the first-born in their land, the flower of all their manhood;36 And he slew all the firstborn in their land: the firstfruits of all their labour.
he led Israel out with silver and gold; in their tribes there was none who stumbled.37 And he brought them out with silver and gold: and there was not among their tribes one that was feeble.
Egypt was glad at their leaving, for terror of Israel had seized them.38 Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them lay upon them.
He spread out a cloud to cover them, and fire to light up the night.39 He spread a cloud for their protection, and fire to give them light in the night.
They asked and he brought them quails, food from heaven to their hearts' content;40 They asked, and the quail came: and he filled them with the bread of heaven.
he opened a rock, the waters gushed out, and flowed in dry ground as a river.41 He opened the rock, and waters flowed: rivers ran down in the dry land.
Faithful to his sacred promise, given to his servant Abraham,42 Because he remembered his holy word, which he had spoken to his servant Abraham.
he led out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness.
He gave them the territories of nations, they reaped the fruit of other people's labours,44 And he gave them the lands of the Gentiles: and they possessed the labours of the people:
on condition that they kept his statutes, and remained obedient to his laws.45 That they might observe his justifications, and seek after his law.
