Psalms 48

1 A psalm of the Korahites. A song.	1 [Song Psalm Of the sons of Korah] Great is Yahweh and most worthy of praise in the city of our God,the holy mountain,
2 Great is the LORD and highly praised in the city of our God: The holy mountain,	2 towering in beauty, the joy of the whole world: Mount Zion in the heart of the north, the settlement ofthe great king;
3 fairest of heights, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, the heights of Zaphon, the city of the great king.	3 God himself among its palaces has proved himself its bulwark.
4 God is its citadel, renowned as a stronghold.	4 For look, kings made al iance, together they advanced;
5 See! The kings assembled, together they invaded.	5 without a second glance, when they saw, they panicked and fled away.
6 When they looked they were astounded; terrified, they were put to flight!	6 Trembling seized them on the spot, pains like those of a woman in labour;
7 Trembling seized them there, anguish, like a woman's labor,	7 it was the east wind, that wrecker of ships from Tarshish.
8 As when the east wind wrecks the ships of Tarshish!	8 What we had heard we saw for ourselves in the city of our God, in the city of Yahweh Sabaoth, whichGod has established for ever.Pause
9 What we had heard we now see in the city of the LORD of hosts, In the city of our God, founded to last forever. Selah	9 We reflect on your faithful love, God, in your temple!
10 O God, within your temple we ponder your steadfast love.	10 Both your name and your praise, God, are over the whole wide world. Your right hand is ful of savingjustice,
11 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches the ends of the earth. Your right hand is fully victorious.	11 Mount Zion rejoices, the daughters of Judah delight because of your saving justice.
12 Mount Zion is glad! The cities of Judah rejoice because of your saving deeds!	12 Go round Zion, walk right through her, count her bastions,
13 Go about Zion, walk all around it, note the number of its towers.	13 admire her walls, examine her palaces, to tel future generations
14 Consider the ramparts, examine its citadels, that you may tell future generations:	14 that such is God; our God for ever and ever, he is our guide!
15 "Yes, so mighty is God, our God who leads us always!"
