A psalm of the Korahites. A song. | 1 Canticum. Psalmus. Filiorum Core. |
Great is the LORD and highly praised in the city of our God: The holy mountain, | 2 Magnus Dominus et laudabilis nimis in civitate Dei nostri. |
fairest of heights, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, the heights of Zaphon, the city of the great king. | 3 Mons sanctus eius collis speciosus, exsultatio universae terrae. Mons Sion, extrema aquilonis, civitas regis magni. |
God is its citadel, renowned as a stronghold. | 4 Deus in domibus eius notus factus est ut refugium. |
See! The kings assembled, together they invaded. | 5 Quoniam ecce reges congregati sunt, convenerunt in unum. |
When they looked they were astounded; terrified, they were put to flight! | 6 Ipsi cum viderunt, sic admirati sunt, conturbati sunt, diffugerunt; |
Trembling seized them there, anguish, like a woman's labor, | 7 illic tremor apprehendit eos, dolores ut parturientis. |
As when the east wind wrecks the ships of Tarshish! | 8 In spiritu orientis conteres naves Tharsis. |
What we had heard we now see in the city of the LORD of hosts, In the city of our God, founded to last forever. Selah | 9 Sicut audivimus, sic vidimus in civitate Domini virtutum, in civitate Dei nostri; Deus fundavit eam in aeternum. |
O God, within your temple we ponder your steadfast love. | 10 Recogitamus, Deus, misericordiam tuam in medio templi tui. |
Like your name, O God, your praise reaches the ends of the earth. Your right hand is fully victorious. | 11 Secundum nomen tuum, Deus, sic et laus tua in fines terrae; iustitia plena est dextera tua. |
Mount Zion is glad! The cities of Judah rejoice because of your saving deeds! | 12 Laetetur mons Sion, et exsultent filiae Iudae propter iudicia tua. |
Go about Zion, walk all around it, note the number of its towers. | 13 Circumdate Sion et complectimini eam, numerate turres eius. |
Consider the ramparts, examine its citadels, that you may tell future generations: | 14 Ponite corda vestra in virtute eius et percurrite domos eius, ut enarretis in progenie altera. |
"Yes, so mighty is God, our God who leads us always!" | 15 Quoniam hic est Deus, Deus noster in aeternum et in saeculum saeculi; ipse ducet nos in saecula. |
