1 A balança fraudulenta é abominada pelo Senhor, mas o peso justo lhe é agradável.	1 False scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a full weight is his delight.
2 Vindo o orgulho, virá também a ignomínia, mas a sabedoria mora com os humildes.	2 When pride comes, disgrace comes; but with the humble is wisdom.
3 A integridade dos justos serve-lhes de guia; mas a perversidade dos pérfidos arrasta-os à ruína.	3 The honesty of the upright guides them; the faithless are ruined by their duplicity.
4 No dia da cólera a riqueza não terá proveito, mas a justiça salva da morte.	4 Wealth is useless on the day of wrath, but virtue saves from death.
5 A justiça do homem íntegro aplana-lhe o caminho, mas o ímpio se abisma em sua própria impiedade.	5 The honest man's virtue makes his way straight, but by his wickedness the wicked man falls.
6 A justiça dos retos os salva, mas em sua própria cobiça os pérfidos se prendem.	6 The virtue of the upright saves them, but the faithless are caught in their own intrigue.
7 Morto o ímpio, desaparece sua esperança, a esperança dos iníquos perecerá.	7 When a wicked man dies his hope perishes, and what is expected from strength comes to nought.
8 O justo livra-se da angústia; em seu lugar cai o malvado.	8 The just man escapes trouble, and the wicked man falls into it in his stead.
9 Com os lábios, o hipócrita arruína o seu próximo, mas os justos serão salvos pela ciência.	9 With his mouth the impious man would ruin his neighbor, but through their knowledge the just make their escape.
10 Com a felicidade dos justos, exulta a cidade; com a perdição dos ímpios solta brados de alegria.	10 When the just prosper, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
11 Uma cidade prospera pela bênção dos justos, mas é destruída pelas palavras dos maus.	11 Through the blessing of the righteous the city is exalted, but through the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
12 Quem despreza seu próximo demonstra falta de senso; o homem sábio guarda silêncio.	12 He who reviles his neighbor has no sense, but the intelligent man keeps silent.
13 O perverso trai os segredos, enquanto um coração leal os mantém ocultos.	13 A newsmonger reveals secrets, but a trustworthy man keeps a confidence.
14 Por falta de direção cai um povo; onde há muitos conselheiros, ali haverá salvação.	14 For lack of guidance a people falls; security lies in many counselors.
15 Quem fica por fiador de um estranho cairá na desventura; o que evita os laços viverá tranqüilo.	15 He is in a bad way who becomes surety for another, but he who hates giving pledges is safe.
16 Uma mulher graciosa obtém honras, mas os laboriosos alcançam fortuna.	16 A gracious woman wins esteem, but she who hates virtue is covered with shame. (The slothful become impoverished, but the diligent gain wealth.)
17 O homem liberal faz bem a si próprio, mas o cruel prejudica a sua própria carne.	17 A kindly man benefits himself, but a merciless man harms himself.
18 O ímpio obtém um lucro falaz, mas o que semeia justiça receberá uma recompensa certa.	18 The wicked man makes empty profits, but he who sows virture has a sure reward.
19 Quem pratica a justiça o faz para a vida, mas quem segue o mal corre para a morte.	19 Virtue directs toward life, but he who pursues evil does so to his death.
20 Os homens de coração perverso são odiosos ao Senhor; os de conduta íntegra são objeto de seus favores.	20 The depraved in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those who walk blamelessly are his delight.
21 Na verdade, o iníquo não ficará impune, mas a posteridade dos justos será salva.	21 Truly the evil man shall not go unpunished, but those who are just shall escape.
22 Um anel de ouro no focinho de um porco: tal é a mulher formosa e insensata.	22 Like a golden ring in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman with a rebellious disposition.
23 O desejo dos justos é unicamente o bem; o que espera os ímpios é a cólera.	23 The desire of the just ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 Há quem dá com liberalidade e obtém mais. Outros poupam demais e vivem na indigência.	24 One man is lavish yet grows still richer; another is too sparing, yet is the poorer.
25 A alma generosa será cumulada de bens; e o que largamente dá, largamente receberá.	25 He who confers benefits will be amply enriched, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
26 O povo amaldiçoa o que esconde o trigo, mas a bênção virá sobre a cabeça dos que o vendem.	26 Him who monopolizes grain, the people curse-- but blessings upon the head of him who distributes it!
27 Quem investiga o bem busca o favor; o que busca o mal será por ele oprimido.	27 He who seeks the good commands favor, but he who pursues evil will have evil befall him.
28 Quem confia em sua riqueza cairá, enquanto os justos reverdecerão como a folhagem.	28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but like green leaves the just flourish.
29 O que perturba sua casa herda o vento, e o néscio será escravo do sábio.	29 He who upsets his household has empty air for a heritage; and the fool will become slave to the wise man.
30 O fruto do justo é uma árvore de vida; o que conquista as almas é sábio.	30 The fruit of virtue is a tree of life, but violence takes lives away.
31 Se o justo recebe na terra sua recompensa, quanto mais o perverso e o pecador!	31 If the just man is punished on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
