BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Nel decimo mese del nono anno di Sedecìa re di Giuda, Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia mosse con tutto l'esercito contro Gerusalemme e l'assediò.	1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced on Jerusalem with his entire army, and they laid siege to it.
2 Nel quarto mese dell'anno undecimo di Sedecìa, il nove del mese, fu aperta una breccia nella città,	2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, a breach was made in the city wall.
3 entrarono tutti i generali del re di Babilonia e si stabilirono alla Porta di mezzo; Nergal-Sarèzer di Sin-Magir, Nebosar-Sechim, capo dei funzionari, Nergal-Sarèzer, comandante delle truppe di frontiera e tutti gli altri capi del re di Babilonia.	3 The king of Babylon's officials, al having made their entry, took their seats in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sar-Sechim a high dignitary of state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer, and al theking of Babylon's other officials . . .
4 Appena videro ciò, Sedecìa re di Giuda e tutti i suoi guerrieri fuggirono uscendo di notte per la via del giardino del re, attraverso la porta fra le due mura, e presero la via dell'Araba.	4 On seeing them, Zedekiah king of Judah and al the fighting men fled, leaving the city under cover ofdark, by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls, and made their way towards theArabah.
5 Ma i soldati caldei li inseguirono e raggiunsero Sedecìa nelle steppe di Gèrico, lo presero e lo condussero da Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia a Ribla nel paese di Amat, dove il re pronunziò la sentenza su di lui.	5 But the Chaldaean troops pursued them and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. Theycaptured him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory of Hamath, where hepassed sentence on him.
6 Il re di Babilonia fece sgozzare i figli di Sedecìa, a Ribla, sotto gli occhi di lui; il re di Babilonia fece anche sgozzare tutti i notabili di Giuda.	6 The king of Babylon had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylonalso had al the leading men of Judah put to death.
7 Cavò poi gli occhi a Sedecìa e lo legò con catene per condurlo a Babilonia.	7 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, carried him off to Babylon.
8 I Caldei diedero alle fiamme la reggia e le case del popolo e demolirono le mura di Gerusalemme.	8 The Chaldaeans burnt down the royal palace and the private houses, and demolished the wal s ofJerusalem.
9 Tutto il resto del popolo rimasto in città e i disertori che erano passati a lui e tutto il resto del popolo, Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, li deportò a Babilonia.	9 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported the remainder of the population left behind in the city,the deserters who had gone over to him, and the rest of the artisans to Babylon.
10 Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, lasciò nel paese di Giuda i poveri del popolo, che non avevano nulla, assegnando loro vigne e campi in tale occasione.	10 But Nebuzaradan commander of the guard left some of the poor people behind in the country ofJudah, those who had nothing, at the same time giving them vineyards and fields.
11 Quanto a Geremia, Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia aveva dato queste disposizioni a Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie:	11 With regard to Jeremiah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given the fol owing orders toNebuzaradan, commander of the guard,
12 "Prendilo e tieni gli occhi su di lui, non fargli alcun male, ma fa' per lui ciò che egli ti dirà".	12 'Take him, look after him; do him no harm, but treat him as he may ask you.'
13 Essi allora - cioè Nabuzaradàn, capo delle guardie, Nabusazbàn capo dei funzionari, Nergal-Sarèzer, comandante delle truppe di frontiera e tutti gli alti ufficiali del re di Babilonia -	13 He entrusted this mission to (Nebuzaradan commander of the guard,) Nebushazban the high dignitaryof state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer and al the king of Babylon's other officials.
14 mandarono a prendere Geremia dall'atrio della prigione e lo consegnarono a Godolia figlio di Achikàm, figlio di Safàn, perché lo conducesse a casa. Così egli rimase in mezzo al popolo.	14 These despatched men to take Jeremiah from the Court of the Guard and turned him over toGedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan for safe conduct home. So he remained among the people.
15 A Geremia era stata rivolta questa parola del Signore, quando era ancora rinchiuso nell'atrio della prigione:	15 While Jeremiah was confined in the Court of the Guard, the word of Yahweh came to him as follows,
16 "Va' a dire a Ebed-Mèlech l'Etiope: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: Ecco io pongo in atto le mie parole contro questa città, a sua rovina e non a suo bene; in quel giorno esse si avvereranno sotto i tuoi occhi.	16 'Go and say to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Yahweh, God of Israel says this: Look, I am about toperform my words about this city for its ruin and not for its prosperity. That day they will come true before youreyes.
17 Ma io ti libererò in quel giorno - oracolo del Signore - e non sarai consegnato in mano agli uomini che tu temi.	17 But I shal rescue you that day, Yahweh declares, and you will not be handed over to the hands of themen you fear.
18 Poiché, certo, io ti salverò; non cadrai di spada, ma ti sarà conservata la vita come tuo bottino, perché hai avuto fiducia in me. Oracolo del Signore".	18 Yes, I shal certainly rescue you: you wil not fall to the sword; you wil escape with your life, becauseyou have put your trust in me, Yahweh declares."
