BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel tempo - oracolo del Signore - io sarò Dio per tutte le tribù di Israele ed esse saranno il mio popolo".	1 When that time comes, Yahweh declares, I shal be the God of al the families of Israel, and they wil bemy people.
2 Così dice il Signore: "Ha trovato grazia nel deserto un popolo di scampati alla spada; Israele si avvia a una quieta dimora".	2 Yahweh says this: They have found pardon in the desert, those who have survived the sword. Israel ismarching to his rest.
3 Da lontano gli è apparso il Signore: "Ti ho amato di amore eterno, per questo ti conservo ancora pietà.	3 Yahweh has appeared to me from afar; I have loved you with an everlasting love and so I stil maintainmy faithful love for you.
4 Ti edificherò di nuovo e tu sarai riedificata, vergine di Israele. Di nuovo ti ornerai dei tuoi tamburi e uscirai fra la danza dei festanti.	4 I shal build you once more, yes, you wil be rebuilt, Virgin of Israel! Once more in your best attire, andwith your tambourines, you wil go out dancing gaily.
5 Di nuovo pianterai vigne sulle colline di Samaria; i piantatori, dopo aver piantato, raccoglieranno.	5 Once more you wil plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria (those who plant wil themselvesenjoy the fruit).
6 Verrà il giorno in cui grideranno le vedette sulle montagne di Èfraim: Su, saliamo a Sion, andiamo dal Signore nostro Dio".	6 Yes, a day will come when the watchmen shout on the mountains of Ephraim, 'Up! Let us go up toZion, to Yahweh our God!'
7 Poiché dice il Signore: "Innalzate canti di gioia per Giacobbe, esultate per la prima delle nazioni, fate udire la vostra lode e dite: Il Signore ha salvato il suo popolo, un resto di Israele".	7 For Yahweh says this: Shout with joy for Jacob! Hail the chief of nations! Proclaim! Praise! Shout,'Yahweh has saved his people, the remnant of Israel!'
8 Ecco, li riconduco dal paese del settentrione e li raduno all'estremità della terra; fra di essi sono il cieco e lo zoppo, la donna incinta e la partoriente; ritorneranno qui in gran folla.	8 Watch, I shall bring them back from the land of the north and gather them in from the far ends of theearth. With them, the blind and the lame, women with child, women in labour, al together: a mighty throng willreturn here!
9 Essi erano partiti nel pianto, io li riporterò tra le consolazioni; li condurrò a fiumi d'acqua per una strada diritta in cui non inciamperanno; perché io sono un padre per Israele, Èfraim è il mio primogenito.	9 In tears they wil return, in prayer I shal lead them. I shal guide them to streams of water, by a smoothpath where they wil not stumble. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born son.
10 Ascoltate, popoli, la parola del Signore, annunziatela alle isole più lontane e dite: "Chi ha disperso Israele lo raduna e lo costudisce come un pastore il suo gregge",	10 Listen, nations, to the word of Yahweh. On the farthest coasts and islands proclaim it, say, 'He whoscattered Israel is gathering him, wil guard him as a shepherd guarding his flock.'
11 perché il Signore ha redento Giacobbe, lo ha riscattato dalle mani del più forte di lui.	11 For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, rescued him from a hand stronger than his own.
12 Verranno e canteranno inni sull'altura di Sion, affluiranno verso i beni del Signore, verso il grano, il mosto e l'olio, verso i nati dei greggi e degli armenti. Essi saranno come un giardino irrigato, non languiranno più.	12 They wil come, shouting for joy on the heights of Zion, thronging towards Yahweh's lavish gifts, forwheat, new wine and oil, sheep and cattle; they will be like a wel -watered garden, they wil sorrow no more.
13 Allora si allieterà la vergine alla danza; i giovani e i vecchi gioiranno. Io cambierò il loro lutto in gioia, li consolerò e li renderò felici, senza afflizioni.	13 The young girl will then take pleasure in the dance, and young men and old alike; I shal change theirmourning into gladness, comfort them, give them joy after their troubles;
14 Sazierò di delizie l'anima dei sacerdoti e il mio popolo abbonderà dei miei beni. Parola del Signore.	14 I shal refresh my priests with rich food, and my people wil gorge themselves on my lavish gifts,Yahweh declares.
15 Così dice il Signore: "Una voce si ode da Rama, lamento e pianto amaro: Rachele piange i suoi figli, rifiuta d'essere consolata perché non sono più".	15 Yahweh says this: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamenting and weeping bitterly: it is Rachel weeping forher children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.
16 Dice il Signore: "Trattieni la voce dal pianto, i tuoi occhi dal versare lacrime, perché c'è un compenso per le tue pene; essi torneranno dal paese nemico.	16 Yahweh says this: Stop your lamenting dry your eyes, for your labour wil have a reward, Yahwehdeclares, and they will return from the enemy's country.
17 C'è una speranza per la tua discendenza: i tuoi figli ritorneranno entro i loro confini.	17 There is hope for your future after al , Yahweh declares, your children wil return to their homeland.
18 Ho udito Èfraim rammaricarsi: Tu mi hai castigato e io ho subito il castigo come un giovenco non domato. Fammi ritornare e io ritornerò, perché tu sei il Signore mio Dio.	18 I have indeed heard Ephraim's grieving, 'You flogged me, I took a flogging, like a young, untrainedbull. Bring me back, let me come back, for you are Yahweh my God!
19 Dopo il mio smarrimento, mi sono pentito; dopo essermi ravveduto, mi sono battuto l'anca. Mi sono vergognato e ne provo confusione, perché porto l'infamia della mia giovinezza.	19 For, since I turned away, I have repented; having understood, I beat my breast. I was deeplyashamed, I blushed, aware of the disgrace incurred when I was young.'
20 Non è forse Èfraim un figlio caro per me, un mio fanciullo prediletto? Infatti dopo averlo minacciato, me ne ricordo sempre più vivamente. Per questo le mie viscere si commuovono per lui, provo per lui profonda tenerezza". Oracolo del Signore.	20 Is Ephraim, then, so dear a son to me, a child so favoured, that whenever I mention him I rememberhim lovingly still? That is why I yearn for him, why I must take pity on him, Yahweh declares.
21 Pianta dei cippi, metti pali indicatori, sta' bene attenta alla strada, alla via che hai percorso. Ritorna, vergine di Israele, ritorna alle tue città.	21 Set up your signposts, raise yourself landmarks, fix your mind on the road, the way by which youwent. Come home, Virgin of Israel, come home to these towns of yours.
22 Fino a quando andrai vagando, figlia ribelle? Poiché il Signore crea una cosa nuova sulla terra: la donna cingerà l'uomo!	22 How long wil you hesitate, rebellious daughter? For Yahweh is creating something new on earth: theWoman sets out to find her Husband again.
23 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: "Si dirà ancora questa parola nel paese di Giuda e nelle sue città, quando avrò cambiato la loro sorte: Il Signore ti benedica, o dimora di giustizia, monte santo.	23 Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, 'In the country of Judah and in its towns, they will usethese words once more, when I bring their captives home: "Yahweh bless you, home of saving justice, holymountain!"
24 Vi abiteranno insieme Giuda e tutte le sue città, agricoltori e allevatori di greggi.	24 'And in this country, Judah and al its towns, the ploughmen and those who wander with their flocks,wil live together,
25 Poiché ristorerò copiosamente l'anima stanca e sazierò ogni anima che languisce".	25 for I shal give the weary al they need and satisfy al those whose strength has gone.'
26 A questo punto mi sono destato e ho guardato; il mio sonno mi parve soave.	26 At this, I awoke and saw that my sleep had been sweet to me.
27 "Ecco verranno giorni - dice il Signore - nei quali renderò feconda la casa di Israele e la casa di Giuda per semenza di uomini e di bestiame.	27 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shall sow the House of Israel and the House ofJudah with the seed both of people and of cattle.
28 Allora, come ho vegliato su di essi per sradicare e per demolire, per abbattere e per distruggere e per affliggere con mali, così veglierò su di essi per edificare e per piantare". Parola del Signore.	28 And as I once watched over them to uproot, to knock down, to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster,so now I shall watch over them to build and to plant, Yahweh declares.
29 "In quei giorni non si dirà più: I padri han mangiato uva acerba e i denti dei figli si sono allegati!	29 'In those days people will no longer say: "The fathers have eaten unripe grapes; the children's teethare set on edge."
30 Ma ognuno morirà per la sua propria iniquità; a ogni persona che mangi l'uva acerba si allegheranno i denti".	30 But each will die for his own guilt. Everyone who eats unripe grapes will have his own teeth set onedge.
31 "Ecco verranno giorni - dice il Signore - nei quali con la casa di Israele e con la casa di Giuda io concluderò una alleanza nuova.	31 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shall make a new covenant with the House ofIsrael (and the House of Judah),
32 Non come l'alleanza che ho conclusa con i loro padri, quando li presi per mano per farli uscire dal paese d'Egitto, una alleanza che essi hanno violato, benché io fossi loro Signore. Parola del Signore.	32 but not like the covenant I made with their ancestors the day I took them by the hand to bring them outof Egypt, a covenant which they broke, even though I was their Master, Yahweh declares.
33 Questa sarà l'alleanza che io concluderò con la casa di Israele dopo quei giorni, dice il Signore: Porrò la mia legge nel loro animo, la scriverò sul loro cuore. Allora io sarò il loro Dio ed essi il mio popolo.	33 No, this is the covenant I shal make with the House of Israel when those days have come, Yahwehdeclares. Within them I shal plant my Law, writing it on their hearts. Then I shal be their God and they wil be mypeople.
34 Non dovranno più istruirsi gli uni gli altri, dicendo: Riconoscete il Signore, perché tutti mi conosceranno, dal più piccolo al più grande, dice il Signore; poiché io perdonerò la loro iniquità e non mi ricorderò più del loro peccato".	34 There wil be no further need for everyone to teach neighbour or brother, saying, "Learn to knowYahweh!" No, they wil al know me, from the least to the greatest, Yahweh declares, since I shal forgive theirguilt and never more cal their sin to mind.'
35 Così dice il Signore che ha fissato il sole come luce del giorno, la luna e le stelle come luce della notte, che solleva il mare e ne fa mugghiare le onde e il cui nome è Signore degli eserciti:	35 Yahweh who provides the sun to shine by day, who regulates moon and stars to shine by night, whostirs the sea, making its waves roar, he whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth, says this,
36 "Quando verranno meno queste leggi dinanzi a me - dice il Signore - allora anche la progenie di Israele cesserà di essere un popolo davanti a me per sempre".	36 'Were this established order ever to pass away before me, Yahweh declares, then the race of Israelwould also cease being a nation for ever before me!'
37 Così dice il Signore: "Se si possono misurare i cieli in alto ed esplorare in basso le fondamenta della terra, anch'io rigetterò tutta la progenie di Israele per ciò che ha commesso". Oracolo del Signore.	37 Yahweh says this, 'Were the heavens above ever to be measured, the foundations of the earth belowever to be fathomed, then I too would reject the whole race of Israel for al that they have done, Yahwehdeclares.'
38 "Ecco verranno giorni - dice il Signore - nei quali la città sarà riedificata per il Signore dalla torre di Cananeèl fino alla porta dell'Angolo.	38 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when the City wil be rebuilt for Yahweh, from theTower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.
39 La corda per misurare si stenderà in linea retta fino alla collina di Gàreb, volgendo poi verso Goà.	39 Then once again the measuring line wil stretch straight to the Hil of Gareb, turning then to Goah.
40 Tutta la valle dei cadaveri e delle ceneri e tutti i campi fino al torrente Cedron, fino all'angolo della porta dei Cavalli a oriente, saranno consacrati al Signore; non sarà più sconvolta né distrutta mai più".	40 And the whole valley, with its corpses and ashes, and al the ground beside the ravine of the Kidronas far as the corner of the Horse Gate, eastwards, will be consecrated to Yahweh. It will never be destroyed ordemolished again.
