BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 All'inizio del regno di Ioiakìm figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, fu rivolta a Geremia questa parola da parte del Signore.	1 At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiahfrom Yahweh,
2 Disse il Signore: "Va' nell'atrio del tempio del Signore e riferisci a tutte le città di Giuda che vengono per adorare nel tempio del Signore tutte le parole che ti ho comandato di annunziare loro; non tralasciare neppure una parola.	2 'Yahweh says this, "Stand in the court of the Temple of Yahweh. To al the people from the towns ofJudah who come to worship in the Temple of Yahweh you wil say everything I have ordered you to say, notomitting one syllable.
3 Forse ti ascolteranno e ognuno abbandonerà la propria condotta perversa; in tal caso disdirò tutto il male che pensavo di fare loro a causa della malvagità delle loro azioni.	3 Perhaps they wil listen and each turn from his evil way: if so, I shal relent and not bring the disaster onthem which I intend because of their misdeeds."
4 Tu dirai dunque loro: Dice il Signore: Se non mi ascolterete, se non camminerete secondo la legge che ho posto davanti a voi	4 Say to them, "Yahweh says this: If you will not listen to me and fol ow my Law which I have given you,
5 e se non ascolterete le parole dei profeti miei servi che ho inviato a voi con costante premura, ma che voi non avete ascoltato,	5 and pay attention to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have never tired of sending to you,although you never have paid attention,
6 io ridurrò questo tempio come quello di Silo e farò di questa città un esempio di maledizione per tutti i popoli della terra".	6 I shal treat this Temple as I treated Shiloh, and make this city a curse for al the nations of the world." '
7 I sacerdoti, i profeti e tutto il popolo udirono Geremia che diceva queste parole nel tempio del Signore.	7 The priests and prophets and al the people heard Jeremiah say these words in the Temple of Yahweh.
8 Ora, quando Geremia finì di riferire quanto il Signore gli aveva comandato di dire a tutto il popolo, i sacerdoti e i profeti lo arrestarono dicendo: "Devi morire!	8 When Jeremiah had finished saying everything that Yahweh had ordered him to say to al the people,the priests and prophets and al the people seized hold of him and said, 'You will die for this!
9 Perché hai predetto nel nome del Signore: Questo tempio diventerà come Silo e questa città sarà devastata, disabitata?". Tutto il popolo si radunò contro Geremia nel tempio del Signore.	9 Why have you made this prophecy in Yahweh's name, "This Temple will become like Shiloh, and thiscity become an uninhabited ruin"?' And the people all crowded in on Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh.
10 I capi di Giuda vennero a sapere queste cose e salirono dalla reggia nel tempio del Signore e sedettero all'ingresso della Porta Nuova del tempio del Signore.	10 Hearing of this, the chief men of Judah came up from the royal palace to the Temple of Yahweh andtook their seats at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.
11 Allora i sacerdoti e i profeti dissero ai capi e a tutto il popolo: "Una sentenza di morte merita quest'uomo, perché ha profetizzato contro questa città come avete udito con i vostri orecchi!".	11 The priests and prophets then said to the chief men and all the people, 'This man deserves to die,since he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.'
12 Ma Geremia rispose a tutti i capi e a tutto il popolo: "Il Signore mi ha mandato a profetizzare contro questo tempio e contro questa città le cose che avete ascoltate.	12 Jeremiah, however, replied to all the chief men and all the people as fol ows, 'Yahweh himself sentme to prophesy against this Temple and this city al the things you have heard.
13 Or dunque migliorate la vostra condotta e le vostre azioni e ascoltate la voce del Signore vostro Dio e il Signore ritratterà il male che ha annunziato contro di voi.	13 So now amend your behaviour and actions, listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh wilrelent about the disaster that he has decreed for you.
14 Quanto a me, eccomi in mano vostra, fate di me come vi sembra bene e giusto;	14 For myself, I am, as you see, in your hands. Do whatever you please or think right with me.
15 ma sappiate bene che, se voi mi ucciderete, attirerete sangue innocente su di voi, su questa città e sui suoi abitanti, perché il Signore mi ha veramente inviato a voi per esporre ai vostri orecchi tutte queste cose".	15 But be sure of this, that if you put me to death, you wil be bringing innocent blood on yourselves, onthis city and on its inhabitants, since Yahweh has truly sent me to you to say al this for you to hear.'
16 I capi e tutto il popolo dissero ai sacerdoti e ai profeti: "Non ci deve essere sentenza di morte per quest'uomo, perché ci ha parlato nel nome del Signore nostro Dio".	16 The chief men and al the people then said to the priests and prophets, 'This man does not deserve todie: he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.'
17 Allora si alzarono alcuni anziani del paese e dissero a tutta l'assemblea del popolo:	17 And some of the country's elders rose to address al the assembled people.
18 "Michea il Morastita, che profetizzava al tempo di Ezechia, re di Giuda, affermò a tutto il popolo di Giuda: Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Sion sarà arata come un campo, Gerusalemme diventerà un cumulo di rovine, il monte del tempio un'altura boscosa!	18 'Micah of Moresheth,' they said, 'who prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, had this tosay to all the people of Judah, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Zion wil become ploughland, Jerusalem a heap ofrubble and the Temple Mount a wooded height."
19 Forse Ezechia re di Giuda e tutti quelli di Giuda lo uccisero? Non temettero piuttosto il Signore e non placarono il volto del Signore e così il Signore disdisse il male che aveva loro annunziato? Noi, invece, stiamo per commettere una grave iniquità a nostro danno".	19 'Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death for this? Did they not rather, fearingYahweh, plead with him, to such effect that Yahweh relented about the disaster which he had decreed for them?Are we now to burden our souls with such a crime?'
20 C'era anche un altro uomo che profetizzava nel nome del Signore, Uria figlio di Semaià da Kiriat-Iearìm; egli profetizzò contro questa città e contro questo paese con parole simili a quelle di Geremia.	20 There was another man, too, who used to prophesy in Yahweh's name, Uriah son of Shemaiah, fromKiriath-Jearim. He prophesied exactly the same things against this city and this country as Jeremiah.
21 Il re Ioiakìm, tutti i suoi prodi e tutti i magistrati udirono le sue parole e il re cercò di ucciderlo, ma Uria lo venne a sapere e per timore fuggì andandosene in Egitto.	21 When King Jehoiakim with all his officers and all the chief men heard what he said, the king wasdetermined to put him to death. On hearing this, Uriah took fright and, fleeing, escaped to Egypt.
22 Allora il re Ioiakìm inviò in Egitto uomini come Elnatàn figlio di Acbòr, e altri con lui.	22 King Jehoiakim, however, sent Elnathan son of Achbor to Egypt with others,
23 Costoro fecero uscire dall'Egitto Uria e lo condussero al re Ioiakìm che lo fece uccidere di spada e fece gettare il suo cadavere nelle fosse della gente del popolo.	23 who brought Uriah back from Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the swordand his body thrown into the common burial ground.
24 Ma la mano di Achikàm figlio di Safàn fu a favore di Geremia, perché non lo consegnassero in potere del popolo per metterlo a morte.	24 But Jeremiah had a protector in Ahikam son of Shaphan, so he was not handed over to the people tobe put to death.
