Proverbi 2

BIBBIA CEI 1974	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figlio mio, se tu accoglierai le mie parole e custodirai in te i miei precetti,	1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
2 tendendo il tuo orecchio alla sapienza, inclinando il tuo cuore alla prudenza,	2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
3 se appunto invocherai l'intelligenza e chiamerai la saggezza,	3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
4 se la ricercherai come l'argento e per essa scaverai come per i tesori,	4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
5 allora comprenderai il timore del Signore e troverai la scienza di Dio,	5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
6 perché il Signore dà la sapienza, dalla sua bocca esce scienza e prudenza.	6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
7 Egli riserva ai giusti la sua protezione, è scudo a coloro che agiscono con rettitudine,	7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
8 vegliando sui sentieri della giustizia e custodendo le vie dei suoi amici.	8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
9 Allora comprenderai l'equità e la giustizia, e la rettitudine con tutte le vie del bene,	9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 perché la sapienza entrerà nel tuo cuore e la scienza delizierà il tuo animo.	10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,
11 La riflessione ti custodirà e l'intelligenza veglierà su di te,	11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
12 per salvarti dalla via del male, dall'uomo che parla di propositi perversi,	12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
13 da coloro che abbandonano i retti sentieri per camminare nelle vie delle tenebre,	13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
14 che godono nel fare il male, gioiscono dei loro propositi perversi;	14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
15 i cui sentieri sono tortuosi e le cui strade sono oblique,	15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
16 per salvarti dalla donna straniera, dalla forestiera che ha parole seducenti,	16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
17 che abbandona il compagno della sua giovinezza e dimentica l'alleanza con il suo Dio.	17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
18 La sua casa conduce verso la morte e verso il regno delle ombre i suoi sentieri.	18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
19 Quanti vanno da lei non fanno ritorno, non raggiungono i sentieri della vita.	19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
20 Per questo tu camminerai sulla strada dei buoni e ti atterrai ai sentieri dei giusti,	20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
21 perché gli uomini retti abiteranno nel paese e gli integri vi resteranno,	21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
22 ma i malvagi saranno sterminati dalla terra, gli infedeli ne saranno strappati.	22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
