Leviticus 11

1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said to them,	1 Jahvè si rivolse a Mosè e ad Aronne:
2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Of al animals living on land these are the creatures you may eat:	2 «Dite ai figli di Israele: “Questi sono gli animali terrestri di cui potete mangiare.
3 "You may eat any animal that has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, and that is a ruminant.	3 Potete mangiare ogni quadrupede con lo zoccolo spaccato e l’unghia divisa e ruminante.
4 The fol owing, which either chew the cud or have a cloven hoof, are the ones that you may not eat: youwil regard the camel as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	4 Ma tra i ruminanti o quelli che hanno lo zoccolo spaccato, non mangerete i seguenti: sarà impuro per voi il cammello poiché, sebbene sia un ruminante, non ha lo zoccolo spaccato;
5 you wil regard the coney as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	5 sarà impuro per voi l’irace poiché, sebbene sia un ruminante, non ha lo zoccolo spaccato;
6 you wil regard the hare as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	6 sarà impura per voi la lepre poiché, sebbene sia un ruminante, non ha lo zoccolo spaccato;
7 you wil regard the pig as unclean, because though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is nota ruminant.	7 sarà impuro per voi il porco poiché, pur avendo lo zoccolo spaccato e l’unghia divisa, non è un ruminante.
8 You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you wil regard them as unclean.	8 Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete le loro carogne: saranno impuri per voi.
9 "Of al that lives in water, these you may eat: "Anything that has fins and scales, and lives in the water, whether in sea or river, you may eat.	9 Questi sono gli animali acquatici, di cui potete mangiare. Potete mangiare tutto ciò che ha pinne e squame, nelle acque dei mari e dei torrenti.
10 But anything in sea or river that does not have fins and scales, of al the smal water-creatures and althe living things found there, you wil regard as detestable.	10 Ma sarà in abominio per voi tutto ciò che, nei mari e nei torrenti, non ha pinne o squame, ogni verme che guizza nell’acqua e ogni animale che sta nell’acqua,
11 You wil regard them as detestable; you must not eat their meat and you wil regard their carcases asdetestable.	11 sarà in abominio per voi: non dovete mangiarne la carne e avrete in orrore le loro carogne.
12 Anything that lives in water, but not having fins and scales, you wil regard as detestable.	12 Sarà in abominio per voi ogni animale acquatico che non ha pinne e squame.
13 "Of the birds these are the ones that you wil regard as detestable; they may not be eaten, they aredetestable for eating: "The tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	13 Tra i volatili avrete in orrore e non mangerete — questi saranno per voi in abominio — l'aquila, l’ossifraga, la strige,
14 the kite, the various kinds of buzzard,	14 il nibbio e tutti gli uccelli rapaci,
15 all kinds of raven,	15 tutte le specie di corvi;
16 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the various kinds of hawk,	16 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano, tutti gli sparvieri,
17 horned owl, night owl, cormorant, barn owl,	17 il gufo, il martin pescatore, l’ibis,
18 ibis, pelican, white vulture,	18 il cigno, il pellicano, la folaga,
19 stork, the various kinds of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.	19 la cicogna, le varie specie di aironi, l’upupa, il pipistrello.
20 "Al winged insects moving on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.	20 Sarà in abominio per voi ogni bestiola alata che cammina su quattro zampe.
21 Of al these winged insects you may eat only the fol owing: those with the sort of legs above their feetwhich enable them to leap over the ground.	21 Ma, tra le bestiole alate che camminano su quattro zampe, potrete mangiare quelle che hanno due zampe sopra i piedi per saltare sulla terra,
22 These are the ones you may eat: the various kinds of migratory locust, the various kinds of solhamlocust, hargol locust and hagab locust.	22 e cioè potrete mangiare le varie specie di locuste, di cavallette, di acridi, di grilli.
23 But al other winged insects on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.	23 Sarà in abominio per voi ogni altra bestiola alata che cammina su quattro zampe.
24 "By the fol owing you wil be made unclean. Anyone who touches the carcase of one wil be uncleanuntil evening.	24 Da esse contrarrete impurità: chiunque ne toccherà: la carogna diventerà impuro fino a sera
25 Anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.	25 e chiunque la trasporterà si laverà le vesti e rimarrà impuro fino a sera.
26 Animals that have hoofs, but not cloven, and that are not ruminant, you wil regard as unclean;anyone who touches them will be unclean.	26 Sarà impuro per voi ogni animale che ha lo zoccolo spaccato ma l’unghia non divisa e che non sia ruminante: chiunque lo toccherà diventerà impuro.
27 Those four-footed animals which walk on the flat of their paws you wil regard as unclean; anyonewho touches their carcases wil be unclean until evening,	27 Sarà impuro per voi ogni animale quadrupede che cammina sulle palme dei piedi: chiunque ne toccherà la carogna diventerà impuro fino a sera
28 and anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.You will regard them as unclean.	28 e chiunque ne trasporterà la carogna si laverà le vesti e rimarrà impuro fino a sera. Essi sono impuri per voi.
29 "Of the smal creatures which crawl along the ground, these are the ones which you wil regard asunclean: the mole, the rat, the various kinds of lizard:	29 Tra gli animali che strisciano sulla terra saranno impuri per voi la talpa; il topo campestre e tutte le specie di lucertole,
30 gecko, koah, letaah, chameleon and tinshamet.	30 il gèco, il topo-ragno; il ramarro, la tartaruga, il camaleonte.
31 "Of al the smal creatures, these are the animals which you must regard as disgusting. Anyone whotouches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.	31 Tra gli animali che strisciano, questi saranno impuri per voi: chiunque li toccherà, quando sono morti, sarà impuro fino a sera.
32 "Any object on which one of these creatures fal s when it is dead becomes unclean: wooden utensil,clothing, skin, sacking, any utensil whatever. It must be immersed in water and wil remain unclean until evening:then it wil be clean.	32 Sarà impura ogni cosa su cui cada, morto, uno di essi: si tratti di un oggetto di legno, di un vestito, di una pelle, di un sacco o di qualsiasi altro oggetto di cui ci si serve: sarà messo nell’acqua e sarà impuro fino a sera; dopo, sarà puro.
33 If the creature fal s into an earthenware vessel, the vessel must be broken; whatever the vesselcontains is unclean.	33 Se uno di essi cade in un vaso di terracotta, tutto il contenuto sarà impuro e spezzerete il vaso;
34 Any edible food wil be unclean if the water touches it; any drinkable liquid will be unclean, no matterwhat its container.	34 sarà impuro ogni commestibile su cui vada l’acqua di quel recipiente; sarà impura ogni bevanda che si beve in qualsiasi recipiente si trovi.
35 Anything on which the carcase of such a creature may fal wil be unclean: be it oven or stove, it mustbe destroyed; for they are unclean and you wil regard them as unclean	35 Sarà impuro ogni oggetto su cui cada la carogna di uno di essi: forno e pentole saranno distrutti come impuri e li tratterete come tali.
36 (although springs, wel s and stretches of water wil remain clean); anyone who touches one of theircarcases wil be unclean.	36 Tuttavia le fonti, le cisterne e le distese di acqua resteranno pure; ma sarà impuro chi tocca la carogna delle bestiole.
37 If one of their carcases fal s on any kind of seed, the seed will remain clean;	37 Se la carogna di una di esse cade sopra una qualsiasi semente, questa rimane pura;
38 but if the seed has been moistened and one of their carcases fal s on it, you wil regard it as unclean.	38 ma se la semente su cui cade è bagnata con acqua, la considererete impura.
39 "If one of the animals that you use as food dies, anyone who touches the carcase wil be unclean untilevening;	39 Se muore un animale della cui carne vi cibate, chi ne tocca la carogna sarà impuro fino a sera;
40 anyone who eats any of the carcase must wash his clothing and will remain unclean until evening;anyone who picks up the carcase must wash his clothing and wil remain unclean until evening.	40 chi ne mangia, si laverà le vesti e sarà impuro fino a sera; chi la trasporta, si laverà le vesti e sarà impuro fino a sera.
41 "Any creature that swarms on the ground is detestable for eating; it must not be eaten.	41 Ogni bestiola che striscia sulla terra è in abominio: non la mangerete.
42 Anything that moves on its bel y, anything that moves on four legs or more -- in short all the creaturesthat swarm on the ground -- you will not eat, since they are detestable.	42 Non mangerete, perché è in abominio tutto ciò che si trascina sul ventre, cammina su quattro o più zampe, nessuna bestiola insomma che striscia sulla terra.
43 Do not make yourselves detestable with al these swarming creatures; do not defile yourselves withthem, do not be defiled by them.	43 Non dovete mettere voi stessi in abominio con queste bestiole che strisciano: non contaminatevi né rendetevi impuri con esse.
44 For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I amholy: do not defile yourselves with all these creatures that swarm on the ground.	44 Poiché il vostro Dio sono io, Jahvè, voi vi siete santificati e siete santi poiché io sono santo: non rendetevi impuri con qualsiasi bestiola che striscia sulla terra.
45 Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you must therefore be holybecause I am holy." '	45 Sono io, Jahvè, che vi ho fatto uscire dalla terra d’Egitto per essere il vostro Dio: voi quindi sarete santi, poiché io sono santo.
46 Such is the law concerning animals, birds, al living creatures that move in water and al creaturesthat swarm on the ground.	46 Questa è la legge riguardo ai quadrupedi, ai volatili, agli animali che guizzano nell’acqua e che strisciano sulla terra,
47 Its purpose is to distinguish the clean from the unclean, the creatures that may be eaten from thosethat may not be eaten.	47 per distinguere l’impuro dal puro, gli animali che si possono mangiare da quelli che non si possono mangiare”».
