Leviticus 11

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said to them,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Aaron, et leur dit:
2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Of al animals living on land these are the creatures you may eat:	2 Parlez aux Israélites, dites-leur: Voici, entre tous les animaux terrestres, les bêtes que vouspourrez manger.
3 "You may eat any animal that has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, and that is a ruminant.	3 Tout animal qui a le sabot fourchu, fendu en deux ongles, et qui rumine, vous pourrez le manger.
4 The fol owing, which either chew the cud or have a cloven hoof, are the ones that you may not eat: youwil regard the camel as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	4 Voici seulement, parmi ceux qui ruminent ou qui ont le sabot fourchu, les espèces que vous nepourrez manger. Vous tiendrez pour impur le chameau parce que, bien que ruminant, il n'a pas le sabot fourchu;
5 you wil regard the coney as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	5 vous tiendrez pour impur le daman parce que, bien que ruminant, il n'a pas le sabot fourchu;
6 you wil regard the hare as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	6 vous tiendrez pour impur le lièvre parce que, bien que ruminant, il n'a pas le sabot fourchu;
7 you wil regard the pig as unclean, because though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is nota ruminant.	7 vous tiendrez pour impur le porc parce que tout en ayant le sabot fourchu, fendu en deux ongles,il ne rumine pas.
8 You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you wil regard them as unclean.	8 Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair ni ne toucherez à leur cadavre, vous les tiendrez pourimpurs.
9 "Of al that lives in water, these you may eat: "Anything that has fins and scales, and lives in the water, whether in sea or river, you may eat.	9 Parmi tout ce qui vit dans l'eau, vous pourrez manger ceci. Tout ce qui a nageoires et écailles etvit dans l'eau, mers ou fleuves, vous en pourrez manger.
10 But anything in sea or river that does not have fins and scales, of al the smal water-creatures and althe living things found there, you wil regard as detestable.	10 Mais tout ce qui n'a point nageoires et écailles, dans les mers ou dans les fleuves, entre toutesles bestioles des eaux et tous les êtres vivants qui s'y trouvent, vous les tiendrez pour immondes.
11 You wil regard them as detestable; you must not eat their meat and you wil regard their carcases asdetestable.	11 Vous les tiendrez pour immondes, vous n'en mangerez point la chair et vous aurez en dégoûtleurs cadavres.
12 Anything that lives in water, but not having fins and scales, you wil regard as detestable.	12 Tout ce qui vit dans l'eau sans avoir nageoires et écailles, vous le tiendrez pour immonde.
13 "Of the birds these are the ones that you wil regard as detestable; they may not be eaten, they aredetestable for eating: "The tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	13 Voici, parmi les oiseaux, ceux que vous tiendrez pour immondes; on n'en mangera pas, c'estchose immonde: le vautour-griffon, le gypaète, l'orfraie,
14 the kite, the various kinds of buzzard,	14 le milan noir, les différentes espèces de milan rouge,
15 all kinds of raven,	15 toutes les espèces de corbeau,
16 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the various kinds of hawk,	16 l'autruche, le chat-huant, la mouette et les différentes espèces d'épervier,
17 horned owl, night owl, cormorant, barn owl,	17 le hibou, le cormoran, la chouette,
18 ibis, pelican, white vulture,	18 l'ibis, le pélican, le vautour blanc,
19 stork, the various kinds of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.	19 la cigogne et les différentes espèces de héron, la huppe, la chauve-souris.
20 "Al winged insects moving on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.	20 Toutes les bestioles ailées qui marchent sur quatre pattes, vous les tiendrez pour immondes.
21 Of al these winged insects you may eat only the fol owing: those with the sort of legs above their feetwhich enable them to leap over the ground.	21 De toutes ces bestioles ailées qui marchent sur quatre pattes vous ne pourrez manger que celles-ci: celles qui ont des pattes au-dessus de leurs pieds, pour sauter sur le sol.
22 These are the ones you may eat: the various kinds of migratory locust, the various kinds of solhamlocust, hargol locust and hagab locust.	22 Voici celles dont vous pourrez manger: les différentes espèces de sauterelles migratrices, desauterelles solham, de sauterelles hargol, de sauterelles hagab.
23 But al other winged insects on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.	23 Mais toutes les bestioles ailées à quatre pattes, vous les tiendrez pour immondes.
24 "By the fol owing you wil be made unclean. Anyone who touches the carcase of one wil be uncleanuntil evening.	24 Vous contracterez d'elles une impureté: quiconque touchera leur cadavre sera impur jusqu'ausoir.
25 Anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.	25 Quiconque transportera leur cadavre devra nettoyer ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu'au soir.
26 Animals that have hoofs, but not cloven, and that are not ruminant, you wil regard as unclean;anyone who touches them will be unclean.	26 Quant aux animaux qui ont un sabot, mais non fendu, et qui ne ruminent pas, vous les tiendrezpour impurs, quiconque les touchera sera impur.
27 Those four-footed animals which walk on the flat of their paws you wil regard as unclean; anyonewho touches their carcases wil be unclean until evening,	27 Ceux des animaux à quatre pattes qui marchent sur la plante des pieds, vous les tiendrez pourimpurs; quiconque touchera leur cadavre sera impur jusqu'au soir,
28 and anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.You will regard them as unclean.	28 et quiconque transportera leur cadavre devra nettoyer ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu'au soir.Vous les tiendrez pour impurs.
29 "Of the smal creatures which crawl along the ground, these are the ones which you wil regard asunclean: the mole, the rat, the various kinds of lizard:	29 Voici, parmi les bestioles qui rampent sur terre, celles que vous tiendrez pour impures: la taupe,le rat et les différentes espèces de lézards:
30 gecko, koah, letaah, chameleon and tinshamet.	30 gecko, koah, letaah, caméléon et tinchamète.
31 "Of al the smal creatures, these are the animals which you must regard as disgusting. Anyone whotouches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.	31 Parmi toutes les bestioles ce sont ces animaux que vous tiendrez pour impurs. Quiconque lestouchera quand ils sont morts sera impur jusqu'au soir.
32 "Any object on which one of these creatures fal s when it is dead becomes unclean: wooden utensil,clothing, skin, sacking, any utensil whatever. It must be immersed in water and wil remain unclean until evening:then it wil be clean.	32 Tout objet sur lequel tombe l'un d'entre eux, une fois mort, en devient impur: tout ustensile debois, vêtement, peau, sac, quelque ustensile que ce soit. On le passera dans l'eau et il restera impur jusqu'au soir;puis il sera pur.
33 If the creature fal s into an earthenware vessel, the vessel must be broken; whatever the vesselcontains is unclean.	33 Tout vase d'argile dans lequel tombera l'un d'entre eux, vous le briserez; son contenu en estimpur.
34 Any edible food wil be unclean if the water touches it; any drinkable liquid will be unclean, no matterwhat its container.	34 Toute nourriture dont on mange sera impure, même humectée d'eau; tout breuvage dont on boitsera impur, quel qu'en soit le récipient.
35 Anything on which the carcase of such a creature may fal wil be unclean: be it oven or stove, it mustbe destroyed; for they are unclean and you wil regard them as unclean	35 Tout ce sur quoi tombe l'un de leurs cadavres sera impur; four et fourneau seront détruits carimpurs ils sont et impurs ils seront pour vous
36 (although springs, wel s and stretches of water wil remain clean); anyone who touches one of theircarcases wil be unclean.	36 (toutefois sources, citernes, et étendues d'eau resteront pures); quiconque touche à l'un de leurscadavres sera impur.
37 If one of their carcases fal s on any kind of seed, the seed will remain clean;	37 Si l'un de leurs cadavres tombe sur une semence quelconque, elle restera pure,
38 but if the seed has been moistened and one of their carcases fal s on it, you wil regard it as unclean.	38 mais si la graine a été humectée d'eau et si un de leurs cadavres tombe dessus, vous la tiendrezpour impure.
39 "If one of the animals that you use as food dies, anyone who touches the carcase wil be unclean untilevening;	39 Si vient à périr un des animaux qui vous servent de nourriture, celui qui en touchera le cadavresera impur jusqu'au soir,
40 anyone who eats any of the carcase must wash his clothing and will remain unclean until evening;anyone who picks up the carcase must wash his clothing and wil remain unclean until evening.	40 celui qui mangera de sa chair morte devra nettoyer ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu'au soir,celui qui transportera son cadavre devra nettoyer ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu'au soir.
41 "Any creature that swarms on the ground is detestable for eating; it must not be eaten.	41 Toute bestiole qui grouille sur terre est immonde, on n'en mangera pas.
42 Anything that moves on its bel y, anything that moves on four legs or more -- in short all the creaturesthat swarm on the ground -- you will not eat, since they are detestable.	42 Tout ce qui se traîne sur le ventre, tout ce qui marche sur quatre pattes ou plus, bref toutes lesbestioles qui grouillent sur terre, vous n'en mangerez pas car elles sont immondes.
43 Do not make yourselves detestable with al these swarming creatures; do not defile yourselves withthem, do not be defiled by them.	43 Ne vous rendez pas vous-mêmes immondes avec toutes ces bestioles grouillantes, ne vouscontaminez pas avec elles et ne soyez pas contaminés par elles.
44 For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I amholy: do not defile yourselves with all these creatures that swarm on the ground.	44 Car c'est moi, Yahvé, qui suis votre Dieu. Vous vous êtes sanctifiés et vous êtes devenus saintscar je suis saint; ne vous rendez donc pas impurs avec toutes ces bestioles qui rampent sur terre.
45 Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you must therefore be holybecause I am holy." '	45 Oui, c'est moi Yahvé qui vous ai fait monter du pays d'Egypte pour être votre Dieu: vous serezdonc saints parce que je suis saint.
46 Such is the law concerning animals, birds, al living creatures that move in water and al creaturesthat swarm on the ground.	46 Telle est la loi concernant les animaux, les oiseaux, tout être vivant qui se meut dans l'eau ettout être qui rampe sur terre.
47 Its purpose is to distinguish the clean from the unclean, the creatures that may be eaten from thosethat may not be eaten.	47 Elle a pour but de séparer le pur et l'impur, les bêtes que l'on peut manger et celles que l'on nedoit pas manger.
