1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said to them,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Aaron, il leur dit:
2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Of al animals living on land these are the creatures you may eat:	2 “Voici ce que vous direz aux Israélites: Parmi toutes les bêtes qui sont sur la terre, voici celles que vous mangerez.
3 "You may eat any animal that has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, and that is a ruminant.	3 Vous pourrez manger de tout animal qui a le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu et qui rumine,
4 The fol owing, which either chew the cud or have a cloven hoof, are the ones that you may not eat: youwil regard the camel as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	4 mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui ruminent seulement, ou qui ont seulement le sabot divisé. C’est le cas du chameau, qui rumine, mais dont le sabot n’est pas divisé: il sera impur pour vous.
5 you wil regard the coney as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	5 De même la marmotte, qui rumine, mais qui n’a pas le sabot divisé: elle sera impure pour vous.
6 you wil regard the hare as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;	6 De même le lièvre, qui rumine, mais qui n’a pas le sabot divisé,: il sera impur pour vous.
7 you wil regard the pig as unclean, because though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is nota ruminant.	7 De même le porc, qui a le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu, mais qui ne rumine pas: il sera impur pour vous.
8 You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you wil regard them as unclean.	8 Vous ne mangerez pas leur viande et vous ne toucherez pas à leur cadavre, ils seront impurs à vos yeux.
9 "Of al that lives in water, these you may eat: "Anything that has fins and scales, and lives in the water, whether in sea or river, you may eat.	9 Parmi tous les animaux qui vivent dans l’eau, voici ceux que vous pourrez manger: vous mangerez tous ceux qui ont des écailles et qui vivent, soit dans la mer, soit dans les rivières.
10 But anything in sea or river that does not have fins and scales, of al the smal water-creatures and althe living things found there, you wil regard as detestable.	10 Mais vous aurez en horreur, parmi tout ce qui vit et s’agite dans les eaux, tous les êtres vivants qui n’ont ni nageoires ni écailles, aussi bien dans la mer que dans les rivières.
11 You wil regard them as detestable; you must not eat their meat and you wil regard their carcases asdetestable.	11 Vous les aurez en horreur, vous ne mangerez pas leur chair et vous aurez en dégoût leur cadavre.
12 Anything that lives in water, but not having fins and scales, you wil regard as detestable.	12 Vous aurez en horreur tout ce qui vit et s’agite dans l’eau et qui n’a ni nageoires ni écailles.
13 "Of the birds these are the ones that you wil regard as detestable; they may not be eaten, they aredetestable for eating: "The tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	13 Parmi les oiseaux, voici ceux que vous aurez en horreur, ceux que vous ne mangerez pas, car ils sont répugnants:
14 the kite, the various kinds of buzzard,	14 l’aigle et le vautour, quelle que soit leur espèce,
15 all kinds of raven,	15 toutes les espèces de corbeaux,
16 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the various kinds of hawk,	16 l’autruche, le chat-huant, la mouette et toutes les sortes d’éperviers,
17 horned owl, night owl, cormorant, barn owl,	17 le hibou, le cormoran et la chouette,
18 ibis, pelican, white vulture,	18 le cygne, le pélican et le vautour royal,
19 stork, the various kinds of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.	19 la cigogne, toutes les espèces de hérons, la huppe et la chauve-souris.
20 "Al winged insects moving on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.	20 Vous aurez en horreur tous les insectes ailés qui marchent à quatre pattes.
21 Of al these winged insects you may eat only the fol owing: those with the sort of legs above their feetwhich enable them to leap over the ground.	21 Mais parmi tous les insectes ailés qui marchent à quatre pattes, vous pourrez manger ceux qui ont des jambes plus hautes que les autres pattes et qui sautent sur la terre.
22 These are the ones you may eat: the various kinds of migratory locust, the various kinds of solhamlocust, hargol locust and hagab locust.	22 C’est ainsi que vous pourrez manger les sauterelles de toutes espèces, la Solam comme la Hargol ou la Hagab.
23 But al other winged insects on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.	23 Mais vous aurez en horreur tous les autres insectes ailés qui marchent à quatre pattes.
24 "By the fol owing you wil be made unclean. Anyone who touches the carcase of one wil be uncleanuntil evening.	24 Tous ces animaux vous rendront impurs et celui qui touchera leur cadavre sera impur jusqu’au soir.
25 Anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.	25 Si quelqu’un touche leur cadavre, il lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir.
26 Animals that have hoofs, but not cloven, and that are not ruminant, you wil regard as unclean;anyone who touches them will be unclean.	26 Tout animal qui a le sabot divisé mais qui n’a pas le pied fourchu et qui ne rumine pas, sera impur à vos yeux. Si quelqu’un le touche il sera impur.
27 Those four-footed animals which walk on the flat of their paws you wil regard as unclean; anyonewho touches their carcases wil be unclean until evening,	27 Vous regarderez comme impur tout quadrupède qui marche sur la plante des pieds. Si quelqu’un touche son cadavre, il sera impur jusqu’au soir.
28 and anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.You will regard them as unclean.	28 Et si quelqu’un transporte son cadavre, il lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir. Ces animaux seront impurs à vos yeux.
29 "Of the smal creatures which crawl along the ground, these are the ones which you wil regard asunclean: the mole, the rat, the various kinds of lizard:	29 Parmi les petites bêtes qui rampent sur la terre, voici celles qui seront impures à vos yeux: la belette, la souris, toutes les espèces de lézards,
30 gecko, koah, letaah, chameleon and tinshamet.	30 la musaraigne, le caméléon, la salamandre, le lézard vert et la taupe.
31 "Of al the smal creatures, these are the animals which you must regard as disgusting. Anyone whotouches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.	31 Tous ces reptiles seront impurs à vos yeux. Si quelqu’un touche leur cadavre, il sera impur jusqu’au soir.
32 "Any object on which one of these creatures fal s when it is dead becomes unclean: wooden utensil,clothing, skin, sacking, any utensil whatever. It must be immersed in water and wil remain unclean until evening:then it wil be clean.	32 Tout objet sur lequel tombera leur cadavre sera impur, que ce soit un objet en bois ou en cuir, un vêtement, un sac ou tout autre objet usuel. On le mettra dans l’eau et il restera impur jusqu’au soir, après quoi il sera pur.
33 If the creature fal s into an earthenware vessel, the vessel must be broken; whatever the vesselcontains is unclean.	33 S’il en tombe un morceau dans un vase de terre, tout ce qui sera à l’intérieur de ce vase sera impur et vous le briserez.
34 Any edible food wil be unclean if the water touches it; any drinkable liquid will be unclean, no matterwhat its container.	34 S’il en tombe dans la nourriture, même dans la soupe, cette nourriture sera impure. S’il en tombe dans une boisson, quel que soit le vase qui la contienne, la boisson sera impure.
35 Anything on which the carcase of such a creature may fal wil be unclean: be it oven or stove, it mustbe destroyed; for they are unclean and you wil regard them as unclean	35 Tout objet sur lequel il en tombera quelque chose sera impur. Le four et le vase avec son couvercle seront détruits, ils sont impurs et vous les tiendrez pour tels.
36 (although springs, wel s and stretches of water wil remain clean); anyone who touches one of theircarcases wil be unclean.	36 Mais les sources et les citernes dans lesquelles on ramasse l’eau resteront pures. Quiconque touchera leur cadavre sera impur.
37 If one of their carcases fal s on any kind of seed, the seed will remain clean;	37 S’il tombe quelque chose de leur cadavre sur du grain qui doit être semé, la semence restera pure.
38 but if the seed has been moistened and one of their carcases fal s on it, you wil regard it as unclean.	38 Mais si le grain a été mis dans l’eau et qu’il y tombe quelque chose de leur cadavre, vous le tiendrez pour impur.
39 "If one of the animals that you use as food dies, anyone who touches the carcase wil be unclean untilevening;	39 Si l’un des animaux qui vous servent de nourriture meurt, celui qui touchera le cadavre sera impur jusqu’au soir.
40 anyone who eats any of the carcase must wash his clothing and will remain unclean until evening;anyone who picks up the carcase must wash his clothing and wil remain unclean until evening.	40 Celui qui mangera de son cadavre lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir, celui qui transportera le cadavre lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir.
41 "Any creature that swarms on the ground is detestable for eating; it must not be eaten.	41 Vous aurez en horreur tout reptile qui rampe sur la terre, vous n’en mangerez point.
42 Anything that moves on its bel y, anything that moves on four legs or more -- in short all the creaturesthat swarm on the ground -- you will not eat, since they are detestable.	42 On ne mangera pas ceux qui se traînent sur le ventre ni ceux qui rampent sur la terre avec leurs quatre pieds ou avec un grand nombre de pieds, vous les aurez en horreur.
43 Do not make yourselves detestable with al these swarming creatures; do not defile yourselves withthem, do not be defiled by them.	43 Ne souillez pas votre personne avec tous ces reptiles qui rampent, ne vous rendez pas impurs à cause d’eux, et ne les laissez pas vous rendre impurs.
44 For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I amholy: do not defile yourselves with all these creatures that swarm on the ground.	44 Car je suis Yahvé, votre Dieu; vous vous sanctifierez et vous serez saints, car moi je suis Saint. Vous ne vous souillerez pas avec tous ces reptiles qui rampent sur la terre,
45 Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you must therefore be holybecause I am holy." '	45 car je suis Yahvé qui vous ai fait monter du pays d’Égypte, pour être votre Dieu. Vous serez saints parce que je suis Saint.
46 Such is the law concerning animals, birds, al living creatures that move in water and al creaturesthat swarm on the ground.	46 Voilà donc la loi touchant les quadrupèdes, les oiseaux, tous les êtres vivants qui vivent dans l’eau et tous ceux qui rampent sur la terre.
47 Its purpose is to distinguish the clean from the unclean, the creatures that may be eaten from thosethat may not be eaten.	47 Vous ferez la différence entre ce qui est impur et ce qui est pur, entre l’animal que l’on peut manger et celui que l’on ne doit pas manger.”
