Psalms 97

¹ Yahweh is king! Let earth rejoice, the many isles be glad!	¹ A Psalm of David himself. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has performed wonders. His right hand has accomplished salvation for him, with his holy arm.
² Cloud, black cloud enfolds him, saving justice and judgement the foundations of his throne.	² The Lord has made known his salvation. He has revealed his justice in the sight of the nations.
³ Fire goes before him, sets ablaze his enemies al around;	³ He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
⁴ his lightning-flashes light up the world, the earth sees it and quakes.	⁴ Sing joyfully to God, all the earth. Sing and exult, and sing psalms.
⁵ The mountains melt like wax, before the Lord of all the earth.	⁵ Sing psalms to the Lord with stringed instruments, with strings and the voice of a psalmist,
⁶ The heavens proclaim his saving justice, all nations see his glory.	⁶ with subtle wind instruments and the voice of woodwinds. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king.
⁷ Shame on all who serve images, who pride themselves on their idols; bow down to him, al you gods!	⁷ Let the sea be moved and all its fullness, the whole world and all who dwell in it.
⁸ Zion hears and is glad, the daughters of Judah exult, because of your judgements, Yahweh.	⁸ The rivers will clap their hands, the mountains will exult together,
⁹ For you are Yahweh, Most High over al the earth, far transcending al gods.	⁹ before the presence of the Lord. For he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the whole world with justice, and the peoples with fairness.
¹⁰ Yahweh loves those who hate evil, he keeps safe his faithful, rescues them from the clutches of thewicked.
¹¹ Light dawns for the upright, and joy for honest hearts.
¹² Rejoice in Yahweh, you who are upright, praise his unforgettable holiness.
