Livro dos Provérbios 15

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Uma resposta branda aplaca o furor, uma palavra dura excita a cólera.	1 A mild answer turns away wrath, sharp words stir up anger.
2 A língua dos sábios ornamenta a ciência, a boca dos imbecis transborda loucura.	2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge welcome, the mouth of a fool spews fol y.
3 Em todo o lugar estão os olhos do Senhor, observando os maus e os bons.	3 The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere: observing the wicked and the good.
4 A língua sã é uma árvore de vida; a língua perversa corta o coração.	4 The tongue that soothes is a tree of life; the perverse tongue, a breaker of hearts.
5 O néscio desdenha a instrução de seu pai, mas o que atende à repreensão torna-se sábio.	5 Only a fool spurns a father's discipline, whoever accepts correction is discreet.
6 Na casa do justo há riqueza abundante, mas perturbação nos frutos dos maus.	6 In the house of the upright there is no lack of treasure, the earnings of the wicked are fraught withanxiety.
7 Os lábios do sábio destilam saber, e não assim é o coração dos insensatos.	7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.
8 Os sacrifícios dos pérfidos são abominação para o Senhor, a oração dos homens retos lhe é agradável.	8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him is the prayer of the honest.
9 O Senhor abomina o caminho do mau, mas ama o que se prende à justiça.	9 The conduct of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, but he loves the person whose goal is uprightness.
10 Severa é a correção para o que se afasta do caminho, e o que aborrece a repreensão perecerá.	10 Correction is severe for one who leaves the way; whoever hates being reprimanded wil die.
11 A habitação dos mortos e o abismo estão abertos diante do Senhor; quanto mais os corações dos filhos dos homens!	11 Sheol and Perdition lie open to Yahweh; how much more the human heart!
12 O zombador não gosta de quem o repreende, nem vai em busca dos sábios.	12 The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, and wil not choose the wise as companions.
13 O coração contente alegra o semblante, o coração triste deprime o espírito.	13 Glad heart means happy face, where the heart is sad the spirit is broken.
14 O coração do inteligente procura a ciência; a boca dos tolos sacia-se de loucuras.	14 The heart of the wise seeks knowledge, a fool's mouth feeds on fol y.
15 Para o aflito todos os dias são maus; para um coração contente, são um perpétuo festim.	15 For the poor every day is evil, for the joyous heart it is always festival time.
16 Vale mais o pouco com o temor do Senhor que um grande tesouro com a inquietação.	16 Better to have little and with it fear of Yahweh than immense wealth and with it anxiety.
17 Mais vale um prato de legume com amizade que um boi cevado com ódio.	17 Better a dish of herbs when love is there than a fattened ox and hatred to go with it.
18 O homem iracundo excita questões, mas o paciente apazigua as disputas.	18 The hot-headed provokes disputes, the equable al ays dissension.
19 O caminho do preguiçoso é como uma sebe de espinhos, o caminho dos corretos é sem tropeço.	19 The way of the lazy is like a thorny hedge, the path of the honest is a broad highway.
20 O filho sábio alegra seu pai; o insensato despreza sua mãe.	20 A wise child is a father's joy; only a brute despises his mother.
21 A loucura diverte o insensato, mas o homem inteligente segue o caminho reto.	21 Fol y appeals to someone without sense, a person of understanding goes straight forward.
22 Os projetos malogram por falta de deliberação; conseguem bom êxito com muitos conselheiros.	22 Without deliberation plans come to nothing. Plans succeed where counsellors are many.
23 Saber dar uma resposta é fonte de alegria; como é agradável uma palavra oportuna!	23 Anyone who has a ready answer has joy too: how satisfying is the apt reply!
24 O sábio escala o caminho da vida, para evitar a descida à morada dos mortos.	24 For the prudent, the path of life leads upwards thus avoiding Sheol below.
25 O Senhor destrói a casa dos soberbos, mas firma os limites da viúva.	25 Yahweh pulls down the house of the proud, but he keeps the widow's boundaries intact.
26 Os projetos dos pérfidos são abomináveis ao Senhor, mas as palavras benevolentes são puras.	26 Wicked scheming is abhorrent to Yahweh, but words that are kind are pure.
27 O homem cobiçoso perturba a sua casa, aquele que odeia os subornos viverá.	27 Craving for dishonest gain brings trouble on a house, hatred of bribery earns life.
28 O coração do justo estuda a sua resposta; a boca dos maus, porém, vomita o mal.	28 The heart of the upright reflects before answering, the mouth of the wicked spews out wickedness.
29 O Senhor está longe dos maus, mas atende à oração dos justos.	29 Yahweh keeps his distance from the wicked, but he listens to the prayers of the upright.
30 O brilho dos olhos alegra o coração; uma boa notícia fortifica os ossos.	30 A kindly glance gives joy to the heart, good news lends strength to the bones.
31 Quem der atenção às repreensões salutares habitará entre os sábios.	31 The ear attentive to wholesome correction finds itself at home in the company of the wise.
32 O que rejeita a correção faz pouco caso de sua vida; quem ouve a repreensão adquire sabedoria.	32 Whoever rejects correction lacks self-respect, whoever accepts reproof grows in understanding.
33 O temor do Senhor é uma escola de sabedoria. A humildade precede a glória.	33 The fear of Yahweh is a school of wisdom, before there can be glory, there must be humility.
