1 A senhora Sabedoria edifica sua casa; a senhora Loucura destrói a sua com as próprias mãos.	1 Wisdom builds her house, but Folly tears hers down with her own hands.
2 Quem caminha direito teme o Senhor; o que anda desviado o despreza.	2 He who walks uprightly fears the LORD, but he who is devious in his ways spurns him.
3 A boca do néscio encerra a vara para seu orgulho, mas os lábios do sábio são uma proteção para si mesmo.	3 In the mouth of the fool is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise preserve them.
4 Onde não há bois, a manjedoura está vazia; a abundância da colheita provém da força do gado.	4 Where there are no oxen, the crib remains empty; but large crops come through the strength of the bull.
5 A testemunha fiel não mente; a testemunha falsa profere falsidades.	5 A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness utters lies.
6 O mofador busca a sabedoria, mas em vão; ao homem entendido a ciência é fácil.	6 The senseless man seeks in vain for wisdom, but knowledge is easy to the man of intelligence.
7 Afasta-te da presença do tolo: em seus lábios não encontrarás palavras sábias.	7 To avoid the foolish man, take steps! But knowing lips one meets with by surprise.
8 A sabedoria do prudente está no cuidar do seu procedimento; a loucura dos insensatos consiste na fraude.	8 The shrewd man's wisdom gives him knowledge of his way, but the folly of fools is their deception.
9 O insensato zomba do pecado; a benevolência {de Deus} é para os homens retos.	9 Guilt lodges in the tents of the arrogant, but favor in the house of the just.
10 O coração conhece suas próprias amarguras; o estranho não pode partilhar de sua alegria.	10 The heart knows its own bitterness, and in its joy no one else shares.
11 A habitação dos pérfidos será destruída, mas a tenda dos justos florescerá.	11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 Há caminho que parece reto ao homem; seu fim, porém, é o caminho da morte.	12 Sometimes a way seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death!
13 Mesmo no sorrir, o coração pode estar triste; a alegria pode findar na aflição.	13 Even in laughter the heart may be sad, and the end of joy may be sorrow.
14 O extraviado será saciado com seus próprios erros; o homem de bem, com seus atos.	14 The scoundrel suffers the consequences of his ways, and the good man reaps the fruit of his paths.
15 O ingênuo acredita em tudo o que se diz; o prudente vigia seus passos.	15 The simpleton believes everything, but the shrewd man measures his steps.
16 O sábio teme o mal e dele se aparta, mas o insensato que se eleva dá-se por seguro.	16 The wise man is cautious and shuns evil; the fool is reckless and sure of himself.
17 O homem violento comete loucura; o dissimulado atrai a si o ódio.	17 The quick-tempered man makes a fool of himself, but the prudent man is at peace.
18 Os ingênuos têm por herança a loucura; os prudentes, a ciência como coroa.	18 The adornment of simpletons is folly, but shrewd men gain the crown of knowledge.
19 Diante dos bons humilham-se os maus e os ímpios ante as portas do justo.	19 Evil men must bow down before the good, and the wicked, at the gates of the just.
20 Até mesmo ao seu companheiro o pobre é odioso; numerosos são os amigos do rico.	20 Even by his neighbor the poor man is hated, but the friends of the rich are many.
21 Quem despreza seu próximo comete um pecado; feliz aquele que tem compaixão dos desgraçados.	21 He sins who despises the hungry; but happy is he who is kind to the poor!
22 Porventura não erram os que maquinam o mal? Os que planejam o bem adquirem favor e verdade.	22 Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those intent on good gain kindness and constancy.
23 Para todo esforço há fruto, muito palavrório só produz penúria.	23 In all labor there is profit, but mere talk tends only to penury.
24 Para o sábio a riqueza é uma coroa. A loucura dos insensatos permanece loucura.	24 The crown of the wise is resourcefulness; the diadem of fools is folly.
25 A testemunha fiel salva vidas; o que profere mentiras é falso.	25 The truthful witness saves lives, but he who utters lies is a betrayer.
26 No temor do Senhor {o justo} encontra apoio sólido; seus filhos nele encontrarão abrigo.	26 In the fear of the LORD is a strong defense; even for one's children he will be a refuge.
27 O temor do Senhor é uma fonte de vida para escapar aos laços da morte.	27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that a man may avoid the snares of death.
28 A multidão do povo é a glória de um rei; a falta de população é a ruína de um príncipe.	28 In many subjects lies the glory of the king; but if his people are few, it is the prince's ruin.
29 O paciente dá prova de bom senso; quem se arrebata rapidamente manifesta sua loucura.	29 The patient man shows much good sense, but the quick-tempered man displays folly at its height.
30 Um coração tranqüilo é a vida do corpo, enquanto a inveja é a cárie dos ossos.	30 A tranquil mind gives life to the body, but jealousy rots the bones.
31 O opressor do pobre ultraja seu criador, mas honra-o o que se compadece do indigente.	31 He who oppresses the poor blasphemes his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy glorifies him.
32 É por causa de sua própria malícia que cai o ímpio; o justo, porém, até na morte conserva a confiança.	32 The wicked man is overthrown by his wickedness, but the just man finds a refuge in his honesty.
33 No coração do prudente repousa a sabedoria. Entre os tolos ela se fará conhecer?	33 In the heart of the intelligent wisdom abides, but in the bosom of fools it is unknown.
34 A justiça enaltece uma nação; o pecado é a vergonha dos povos.	34 Virtue exalts a nation, but sin is a people's disgrace.
35 O servidor inteligente goza do favor do rei, mas a sua ira fere o desonrado.	35 The king favors the intelligent servant, but the worthless one incurs his wrath.
