Levitico 12

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Locutus est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
2 “ Loquere fi liis Israel et dices ad eos: Mulier, si, suscepto semine, pepererit masculum, immunda erit septem diebus iuxta dies separationis menstruae,	2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If a woman becomes pregnant and gives birth to a boy, she wil beunclean for seven days as when in a state of pol ution due to menstruation.
3 et die octavo circumcidetur infantulus;	3 On the eighth day the child's foreskin must be circumcised,
4 ipsa vero triginta tribus diebus manebit in sanguine purificationis suae; omne sanctum non tanget nec ingredietur sanctuarium, donec impleantur dies purificationis eius.	4 and she wil wait another thirty-three days for her blood to be purified. She wil not touch anythingconsecrated nor go to the sanctuary until the time of her purification is over.
5 Sin autem feminam pepererit, immunda erit duabus hebdomadibus iuxta ritum fluxus menstrui, et sexaginta ac sex diebus manebit in sanguine purificationis suae.	5 "If she gives birth to a girl, she wil be unclean for two weeks, as during her monthly periods; and willwait another sixty-six days for her blood to be purified.
6 Cumque expleti fuerint dies purificationis suae pro filio sive pro filia, deferet agnum anniculum in holocaustum et pullum columbae sive turturem pro peccato ad ostium tabernaculi conventus et tradet sacerdoti.	6 "When the period of her purification is over, for either boy or girl, she wil bring the priest at theentrance to the Tent of Meeting a lamb one year old for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or turtledove as asacrifice for sin.
7 Qui offeret illa coram Domino et expiabit eam; et sic mundabitur a profluvio sanguinis sui: ista est lex parientis masculum aut feminam.	7 The priest must offer this before Yahweh, perform the rite of expiation for her, and she wil be purified from her discharge of blood. "Such is the law concerning a woman who gives birth to either a boy or a girl.
8 Quod si non invenerit manus eius, nec potuerit offerre agnum, sumet duos turtures vel duos pullos columbae, unum in holocaustum et alterum pro peccato; expiabitque eam sacerdos, et sic mundabitur ”.	8 If she cannot afford a lamb, she must take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for the burntoffering and the other for the sacrifice for sin. The priest will perform the rite of expiation for her and she wil bepurified." '
