Lettera ai Romani 12

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Vi esorto dunque, fratelli, per la misericordia di Dio, ad offrire i vostri corpi come sacrificio vivente, santo e gradito a Dio; è questo il vostro culto spirituale.	1 I urge you, then, brothers, remembering the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, dedicated and acceptable to God; that is the kind of worship for you, as sensible people.
2 Non conformatevi alla mentalità di questo secolo, ma trasformatevi rinnovando la vostra mente, per poter discernere la volontà di Dio, ciò che è buono, a lui gradito e perfetto.	2 Do not model your behaviour on the contemporary world, but let the renewing of your mindstransform you, so that you may discern for yourselves what is the wil of God -- what is good and acceptable andmature.
3 Per la grazia che mi è stata concessa, io dico a ciascuno di voi: non valutatevi più di quanto è conveniente valutarsi, ma valutatevi in maniera da avere di voi una giusta valutazione, ciascuno secondo la misura di fede che Dio gli ha dato.	3 And through the grace that I have been given, I say this to every one of you: never pride yourself onbeing better than you real y are, but think of yourself dispassionately, recognising that God has given to eachone his measure of faith.
4 Poiché, come in un solo corpo abbiamo molte membra e queste membra non hanno tutte la medesima funzione,	4 Just as each of us has various parts in one body, and the parts do not al have the same function:
5 così anche noi, pur essendo molti, siamo un solo corpo in Cristo e ciascuno per la sua parte siamo membra gli uni degli altri.	5 in the same way, al of us, though there are so many of us, make up one body in Christ, and asdifferent parts we are al joined to one another.
6 Abbiamo pertanto doni diversi secondo la grazia data a ciascuno di noi. Chi ha il dono della profezia la eserciti secondo la misura della fede;	6 Then since the gifts that we have differ according to the grace that was given to each of us: if it is agift of prophecy, we should prophesy as much as our faith tells us;
7 chi ha un ministero attenda al ministero; chi l'insegnamento, all'insegnamento;	7 if it is a gift of practical service, let us devote ourselves to serving; if it is teaching, to teaching;
8 chi l'esortazione, all'esortazione. Chi dà, lo faccia con semplicità; chi presiede, lo faccia con diligenza; chi fa opere di misericordia, le compia con gioia.	8 if it is encouraging, to encouraging. When you give, you should give generously from the heart; if youare put in charge, you must be conscientious; if you do works of mercy, let it be because you enjoy doing them.
9 La carità non abbia finzioni: fuggite il male con orrore, attaccatevi al bene;	9 Let love be without any pretence. Avoid what is evil; stick to what is good.
10 amatevi gli uni gli altri con affetto fraterno, gareggiate nello stimarvi a vicenda.	10 In brotherly love let your feelings of deep affection for one another come to expression and regardothers as more important than yourself.
11 Non siate pigri nello zelo; siate invece ferventi nello spirito, servite il Signore.	11 In the service of the Lord, work not halfheartedly but with conscientiousness and an eager spirit.
12 Siate lieti nella speranza, forti nella tribolazione, perseveranti nella preghiera,	12 Be joyful in hope, persevere in hardship; keep praying regularly;
13 solleciti per le necessità dei fratelli, premurosi nell'ospitalità.	13 share with any of God's holy people who are in need; look for opportunities to be hospitable.
14 Benedite coloro che vi perseguitano, benedite e non maledite.	14 Bless your persecutors; never curse them, bless them.
15 Rallegratevi con quelli che sono nella gioia, piangete con quelli che sono nel pianto.	15 Rejoice with others when they rejoice, and be sad with those in sorrow.
16 Abbiate i medesimi sentimenti gli uni verso gli altri; non aspirate a cose troppo alte, piegatevi invece a quelle umili. Non fatevi un'idea troppo alta di voi stessi.	16 Give the same consideration to al others alike. Pay no regard to social standing, but meet humblepeople on their own terms. Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom.
17 Non rendete a nessuno male per male. 'Cercate di compiere il bene davanti a' tutti 'gli uomini'.	17 Never pay back evil with evil, but bear in mind the ideals that all regard with respect.
18 Se possibile, per quanto questo dipende da voi, vivete in pace con tutti.	18 As much as possible, and to the utmost of your ability, be at peace with everyone.
19 Non fatevi giustizia da voi stessi, carissimi, ma lasciate fare all'ira divina. Sta scritto infatti: 'A me la vendetta, sono io che ricambierò', dice il Signore.	19 Never try to get revenge: leave that, my dear friends, to the Retribution. As scripture says:Vengeance is mine -- I wil pay them back, the Lord promises.
20 Al contrario, 'se il tuo nemico ha fame, dagli da mangiare; se ha sete, dagli da bere: facendo questo, infatti, ammasserai carboni ardenti sopra il suo capo'.	20 And more: If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat; if thirsty, something to drink. By this,you wil be heaping red-hot coals on his head.
21 Non lasciarti vincere dal male, ma vinci con il bene il male.	21 Do not be mastered by evil, but master evil with good.
