¹ Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,	¹ Alleluia, cioè lodate il Signore. Date lode al Signore, e invocate il suo nome: annunziate le opere di lui tralle genti.
² wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,	² Cantate la gloria di lui sugli strumenti di musica: raccontate tutte le sue meraviglie.
³ build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,	³ Gloriatevi nel santo nome di lui: sia nell'allegrezza il cuore di quelli, che cercano il Signore.
⁴ appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.	⁴ Cercate il Signore, e fattevi forti: cercate mai sempre la sua presenza.
⁵ You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;	⁵ Ricordatevi delle meraviglie, che egli fece: de' suoi prodigj, delle leggi, ch'ei pronunziò di sua bocca,
⁶ you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.	⁶ O voi seme di Abramo, servi di lui; o voi figliuoli di Giacobbe gli eletti di lui.
⁷ At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,	⁷ Egli il Signore Dio nostro: i giudizj di lui sono noti a tutta quanta la terra.
⁸ flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;	⁸ Egli si è ricordato sempre della sua alleanza: della parola fermata da lui per mille generazioni.
⁹ you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.	⁹ Della parola, ch'ei diede ad Abramo, e del giuramento suo ad Isacco.
¹⁰ In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,	¹⁰ Giuramento, ch'ei confermò quasi legge a Giocobbe, e ad Israele qual patto sempiterno.
¹¹ supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,	¹¹ Dicendo: A te darò la terra di Chanaan divisa come vostra eredità.
¹² on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.	¹² Bench'ei fossero in piccol numero; pochissimi di numero, e in essa stranieri:
¹³ From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:	¹³ E passarono da una nazione ad un' altra, e da un regno a un altro popolo.
¹⁴ for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,	¹⁴ Non permise, che uomo facesse loro alcun male, e per essi gastigò dei re.
¹⁵ and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.	¹⁵ Non toccate i miei cristi, e non malignate contro de' miei profeti.
¹⁶ The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;	¹⁶ E chiamò sulla terra la fame, tolse tutto il sostegno del pane.
¹⁷ there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;	¹⁷ Mandò avanti di loro un uomo: Giuseppe fu venduto per ischiavo.
¹⁸ for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.	¹⁸ Lo umiliarono inceppandogli i piedi: il ferro trapassò l'anima di lui fino a tanto che si adempisse la sua parola.
¹⁹ He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.	¹⁹ La legge del Signore lo avea messo nel fuoco: il Re mandò a scioglierlo: il principe de' popoli lo liberò.
²⁰ You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;	²⁰ Lo costituì padrone della sua casa, e principe di quanto ei possedeva.
²¹ young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.	²¹ Affinchè egli sua saggezza comunicasse a' suoi grandi, e al senato di lui insegnasse prudenza.
²² The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,	²² E Israele entrò nell'Egitto, e Giacobbe pellegrinò nella terra di Cham.
²³ and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.	²³ E (Dio) moltiplicò grandemente il popol suo, e lo rendette più forte de' suoi nemici.
²⁴ How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.	²⁴ Ei cangiò il cuor di coloro perché prendesser in odio il popol suo, e facesser soverchieria a' suoi servi.
²⁵ Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;	²⁵ Spedì il suo servo Mosè, e Aronne, cui pur egli elesse.
²⁶ there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.	²⁶ E pose nelle lor mani i suoi miracoli, e i prodigj da farsi nella terra di Cham.
²⁷ They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.	²⁷ Mandò le tenebre, e tutto fu oscurità: ed egli non rendette vane le sue parole.
²⁸ You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .	²⁸ Cangiò in sangue le loro acque, e uccise i loro pesci.
²⁹ Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.	²⁹ La terra mandò fuori i ranocchi nelle più segrete stanze dei regi istessi.
³⁰ Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.	³⁰ A una sua parola venner le mosche, e i mosconi per tutto quanto il loro paese.
³¹ Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!	³¹ Mutò di grandine le loro pioggie: piovve sulla loro terra un fuoco divoratore.
³² At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.	³² E percosse le loro viti, e le loro ficaie, e fece in pezzi le piante delle loro regioni.
³³ I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.	³³ A una parola di lui venne la locusta, e il bruco, ed erano senza numero:
³⁴ May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.	³⁴ E mangiaron tutta l'erba de' loro terreni, e mangiarono tutti i frutti de' loro campi.
³⁵ May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.	³⁵ E percosse tutti i primogeniti nella loro terra, le primizie di lor robustezza.
	³⁶ E menò via Israele coll'argento, e coll'oro; e nelle loro tribù non era un malato.
	³⁷ Si rallegrò della loro partenza l'Egitto, perché era sopraffatto dal timore, che avea di essi.
	³⁸ Stese una nuvola, che li coprisse, e fè, che il fuoco gli illuminasse di notte.
	³⁹ Chiesero, e venner le quaglie: e li saziò con pane del cielo.
	⁴⁰ Fendette la pietra, e scorser le acque: sgorgaron fiumi in un luogo di siccità.
	⁴¹ Perché egli ebbe memoria di quella sua santa parola, detta ad Abramo suo servo.
	⁴² E il suo popolo trasse fuora tutto esultante, e i suoi eletti pieni di allegrezza.
	⁴³ E diede loro i paesi delle nazioni, e furon padroni delle fatiche de' popoli,
	⁴⁴ Affinchè osservino i suoi comandamenti, e amino la sua legge.
