1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,	1 Alleluia, cioè lodate il Signore. Date lode al Signore, e invocate il suo nome: annunziate le opere di lui tralle genti.
2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,	2 Cantate la gloria di lui sugli strumenti di musica: raccontate tutte le sue meraviglie.
3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,	3 Gloriatevi nel santo nome di lui: sia nell'allegrezza il cuore di quelli, che cercano il Signore.
4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.	4 Cercate il Signore, e fattevi forti: cercate mai sempre la sua presenza.
5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;	5 Ricordatevi delle meraviglie, che egli fece: de' suoi prodigj, delle leggi, ch'ei pronunziò di sua bocca,
6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.	6 O voi seme di Abramo, servi di lui; o voi figliuoli di Giacobbe gli eletti di lui.
7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,	7 Egli il Signore Dio nostro: i giudizj di lui sono noti a tutta quanta la terra.
8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;	8 Egli si è ricordato sempre della sua alleanza: della parola fermata da lui per mille generazioni.
9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.	9 Della parola, ch'ei diede ad Abramo, e del giuramento suo ad Isacco.
10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,	10 Giuramento, ch'ei confermò quasi legge a Giocobbe, e ad Israele qual patto sempiterno.
11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,	11 Dicendo: A te darò la terra di Chanaan divisa come vostra eredità.
12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.	12 Bench'ei fossero in piccol numero; pochissimi di numero, e in essa stranieri:
13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:	13 E passarono da una nazione ad un' altra, e da un regno a un altro popolo.
14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,	14 Non permise, che uomo facesse loro alcun male, e per essi gastigò dei re.
15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.	15 Non toccate i miei cristi, e non malignate contro de' miei profeti.
16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;	16 E chiamò sulla terra la fame, tolse tutto il sostegno del pane.
17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;	17 Mandò avanti di loro un uomo: Giuseppe fu venduto per ischiavo.
18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.	18 Lo umiliarono inceppandogli i piedi: il ferro trapassò l'anima di lui fino a tanto che si adempisse la sua parola.
19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.	19 La legge del Signore lo avea messo nel fuoco: il Re mandò a scioglierlo: il principe de' popoli lo liberò.
20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;	20 Lo costituì padrone della sua casa, e principe di quanto ei possedeva.
21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.	21 Affinchè egli sua saggezza comunicasse a' suoi grandi, e al senato di lui insegnasse prudenza.
22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,	22 E Israele entrò nell'Egitto, e Giacobbe pellegrinò nella terra di Cham.
23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.	23 E (Dio) moltiplicò grandemente il popol suo, e lo rendette più forte de' suoi nemici.
24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.	24 Ei cangiò il cuor di coloro perché prendesser in odio il popol suo, e facesser soverchieria a' suoi servi.
25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;	25 Spedì il suo servo Mosè, e Aronne, cui pur egli elesse.
26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.	26 E pose nelle lor mani i suoi miracoli, e i prodigj da farsi nella terra di Cham.
27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.	27 Mandò le tenebre, e tutto fu oscurità: ed egli non rendette vane le sue parole.
28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .	28 Cangiò in sangue le loro acque, e uccise i loro pesci.
29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.	29 La terra mandò fuori i ranocchi nelle più segrete stanze dei regi istessi.
30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.	30 A una sua parola venner le mosche, e i mosconi per tutto quanto il loro paese.
31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!	31 Mutò di grandine le loro pioggie: piovve sulla loro terra un fuoco divoratore.
32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.	32 E percosse le loro viti, e le loro ficaie, e fece in pezzi le piante delle loro regioni.
33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.	33 A una parola di lui venne la locusta, e il bruco, ed erano senza numero:
34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.	34 E mangiaron tutta l'erba de' loro terreni, e mangiarono tutti i frutti de' loro campi.
35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.	35 E percosse tutti i primogeniti nella loro terra, le primizie di lor robustezza.
	36 E menò via Israele coll'argento, e coll'oro; e nelle loro tribù non era un malato.
	37 Si rallegrò della loro partenza l'Egitto, perché era sopraffatto dal timore, che avea di essi.
	38 Stese una nuvola, che li coprisse, e fè, che il fuoco gli illuminasse di notte.
	39 Chiesero, e venner le quaglie: e li saziò con pane del cielo.
	40 Fendette la pietra, e scorser le acque: sgorgaron fiumi in un luogo di siccità.
	41 Perché egli ebbe memoria di quella sua santa parola, detta ad Abramo suo servo.
	42 E il suo popolo trasse fuora tutto esultante, e i suoi eletti pieni di allegrezza.
	43 E diede loro i paesi delle nazioni, e furon padroni delle fatiche de' popoli,
	44 Affinchè osservino i suoi comandamenti, e amino la sua legge.
