1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,	1 Benedici il Signore, anima mia!Sei tanto grande, Signore, mio Dio!Sei rivestito di maestà e di splendore,
2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,	2 avvolto di luce come di un manto,tu che distendi i cieli come una tenda,
3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,	3 costruisci sulle acque le tue alte dimore,fai delle nubi il tuo carro,cammini sulle ali del vento,
4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.	4 fai dei venti i tuoi messaggerie dei fulmini i tuoi ministri.
5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;	5 Egli fondò la terra sulle sue basi:non potrà mai vacillare.
6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.	6 Tu l’hai coperta con l’oceano come una veste;al di sopra dei monti stavano le acque.
7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,	7 Al tuo rimprovero esse fuggirono,al fragore del tuo tuono si ritrassero atterrite.
8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;	8 Salirono sui monti, discesero nelle valli,verso il luogo che avevi loro assegnato;
9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.	9 hai fissato loro un confine da non oltrepassare,perché non tornino a coprire la terra.
10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,	10 Tu mandi nelle valli acque sorgiveperché scorrano tra i monti,
11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,	11 dissetino tutte le bestie dei campie gli asini selvatici estinguano la loro sete.
12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.	12 In alto abitano gli uccelli del cieloe cantano tra le fronde.
13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:	13 Dalle tue dimore tu irrighi i monti,e con il frutto delle tue opere si sazia la terra.
14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,	14 Tu fai crescere l’erba per il bestiamee le piante che l’uomo coltivaper trarre cibo dalla terra,
15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.	15 vino che allieta il cuore dell’uomo,olio che fa brillare il suo voltoe pane che sostiene il suo cuore.
16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;	16 Sono sazi gli alberi del Signore,i cedri del Libano da lui piantati.
17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;	17 Là gli uccelli fanno il loro nidoe sui cipressi la cicogna ha la sua casa;
18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.	18 le alte montagne per le capre selvatiche,le rocce rifugio per gli iràci.
19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.	19 Hai fatto la luna per segnare i tempie il sole che sa l’ora del tramonto.
20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;	20 Stendi le tenebre e viene la notte:in essa si aggirano tutte le bestie della foresta;
21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.	21 ruggiscono i giovani leoni in cerca di predae chiedono a Dio il loro cibo.
22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,	22 Sorge il sole: si ritiranoe si accovacciano nelle loro tane.
23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.	23 Allora l’uomo esce per il suo lavoro,per la sua fatica fino a sera.
24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.	24 Quante sono le tue opere, Signore!Le hai fatte tutte con saggezza;la terra è piena delle tue creature.
25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;	25 Ecco il mare spazioso e vasto:là rettili e pesci senza numero,animali piccoli e grandi;
26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.	26 lo solcano le navie il Leviatàn che tu hai plasmatoper giocare con lui.
27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.	27 Tutti da te aspettanoche tu dia loro cibo a tempo opportuno.
28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .	28 Tu lo provvedi, essi lo raccolgono;apri la tua mano, si saziano di beni.
29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.	29 Nascondi il tuo volto: li assale il terrore;togli loro il respiro: muoiono,e ritornano nella loro polvere.
30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.	30 Mandi il tuo spirito, sono creati,e rinnovi la faccia della terra.
31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!	31 Sia per sempre la gloria del Signore;gioisca il Signore delle sue opere.
32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.	32 Egli guarda la terra ed essa trema,tocca i monti ed essi fumano.
33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.	33 Voglio cantare al Signore finché ho vita,cantare inni al mio Dio finché esisto.
34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.	34 A lui sia gradito il mio canto,io gioirò nel Signore.
35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.	35 Scompaiano i peccatori dalla terrae i malvagi non esistano più.Benedici il Signore, anima mia.Alleluia.
