1 Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?	1 Appelle maintenant! Est-ce qu'on te répondra? Auquel des saints t'adresseras-tu?
2 Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.	2 En vérité, le dépit tue l'insensé et l'emportement fait mourir le sot.
3 I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.	3 J'ai vu ceci, moi: l'un d'eux prenait racine, quand sa demeure fut soudain maudite.
4 His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;	4 Ses fils sont privés de tout appui, accablés à la Porte sans défenseur;
5 their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.	5 leur moisson nourrit des affamés, car Dieu la leur ôte de la bouche, et des hommes altérés convoitentleurs biens.
6 No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.	6 Non, la misère ne sourd pas de terre, la peine ne germe pas du sol.
7 It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.	7 C'est l'homme qui engendre la peine comme le vol des aigles recherche l'altitude.
8 If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.	8 Pour moi, j'aurais recours à Dieu, à lui j'exposerais ma cause.
9 His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.	9 Il est l'auteur d'oeuvres grandioses et insondables, de merveilles qu'on ne peut compter.
10 He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.	10 Il répand la pluie sur la terre, envoie les eaux sur les campagnes.
11 If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,	11 S'il veut relever les humiliés, pousser les affligés au comble du bonheur,
12 he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.	12 il déjoue les desseins des astucieux, incapables de mener à bien leurs intrigues.
13 He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.	13 Il prend les sages au piège de leurs astuces, rend stupides les conseillers retors.
14 In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.	14 En plein jour ils se heurtent aux ténèbres, ils tâtonnent à midi comme dans la nuit.
15 He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.	15 Il arrache de leur gueule l'homme ruiné et le pauvre des mains du puissant.
16 Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.	16 Alors le faible renaît à l'espoir et l'injustice doit fermer la bouche.
17 Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!	17 Oui, heureux l'homme que Dieu corrige! Aussi, ne méprise pas la leçon de Shaddaï.
18 For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.	18 Lui, qui blesse, puis panse la plaie, qui meurtrit, puis guérit de sa main,
19 Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.	19 six fois de l'angoisse il te délivrera, et une septième le mal t'épargnera.
20 In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.	20 Dans une famine, il te sauvera de la mort; à la guerre, des atteintes de l'épée.
21 You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.	21 Tu seras à l'abri du fouet de la langue, sans crainte à l'approche du pillard.
22 You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.	22 Tu riras de la sécheresse et du gel et tu ne craindras pas les bêtes de la terre.
23 You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.	23 Tu auras un pacte avec les pierres des champs, les bêtes sauvages seront en paix avec toi.
24 You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.	24 Tu trouveras ta tente prospère, ton bercail au complet quand tu le visiteras.
25 You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.	25 Tu verras ta postérité s'accroître, tes rejetons pousser comme l'herbe des champs.
26 At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.	26 Tu entreras dans la tombe bien mûr, comme on entasse la meule en son temps.
27 Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!	27 Tout cela, nous l'avons observé: c'est la vérité! A toi d'écouter et d'en faire ton profit.
