Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?1 Therefore call, if there are any who will respond to you, and turn to one or another of the saints.
Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.2 Truly, anger condemns the foolish to death, and envy kills the petty.
I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.3 I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I have cursed his excellence without hesitation.
His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;4 His sons will be far from prosperity and will be crushed at the gate, and there will be none who can rescue them.
their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.5 Their harvest, the starving will eat. The armed man will rob him, and the thirsty will drink his resources.
No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.6 Nothing on earth occurs without a reason, and sorrow does not rise from the earth.
It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.7 Man is born to labor, and the bird to fly.
If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.8 Therefore, because of this, I will beg the Lord, and place my eloquence before God.
His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.9 He does great and unfathomable and miraculous things without number.
He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.10 He gives rain over the face of the earth and irrigates all things with the waters.
If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,11 He places the humble on high and encourages the grieving towards health.
he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.12 He dispels the thoughts of the spiteful, lest their hands be able to complete what they had begun.
He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.13 He catches the wise in their cleverness and dissipates the counsel of the perverse.
In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.14 They will encounter darkness in the daytime, and they will grope at midday just as in the night.
He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.15 Thereafter, he will act to save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.
Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.16 And there will be hope for those in need, for iniquity will diminish its speech.
Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!17 Blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore, do not reject the chastisement of the Lord.
For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.18 For he wounds and he cures; he strikes and his hands will heal.
Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.19 He will deliver you into six tribulations, and in the seventh, evil will not touch you.
In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.20 During famine, he will rescue you from death, and during war, from the hand of the sword.
You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you will not fear calamity when it arrives.
You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.22 In desolation and in famine, you will laugh, and you will not dread the beasts of the earth.
You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.23 For you are in harmony with the stones of the land, and the beasts of the earth will make peace with you.
You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.24 And you will know that your home has peace, and, concerning your appearance, you will not sin.
You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.25 Likewise, you will know that your offspring will be manifold and your progeny will be like the grass of the earth.
At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.26 You will enter the grave with abundance, just as a crop of wheat is gathered in its time.
Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!27 Behold, this is just as we have found it, which you have heard; walk it through your mind.
