1 Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?	1 Ruf doch! Ist einer, der dir Antwort gibt? An wen von den Heiligen willst du dich wenden?
2 Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.	2 Den Toren bringt der Ärger um, Leidenschaft tötet den Narren.
3 I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.	3 Wohl sah ich einen Toren Wurzel fassen, doch plötzlich musste ich seine Wohnstatt verwünschen.
4 His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;	4 Weit weg vom Heil sind seine Kinder, werden zertreten im Tor, sind ohne Helfer.
5 their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.	5 Seine Ernte verzehrt der Hungernde, selbst aus Dornen holt er sie heraus, Durstige lechzen nach seinem Gut.
6 No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.	6 Denn nicht aus dem Staub geht Unheil hervor, nicht aus dem Ackerboden sprosst die Mühsal,
7 It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.	7 sondern der Mensch ist zur Mühsal geboren, wie Feuerfunken, die hochfliegen.
8 If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.	8 Ich aber, ich würde Gott befragen und Gott meine Sache vorlegen,
9 His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.	9 der Großes und Unergründliches tut, Wunder, die niemand zählen kann.
10 He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.	10 Er spendet Regen über die Erde hin und sendet Wasser auf die weiten Fluren,
11 If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,	11 um Niedere hoch zu erheben, damit Trauernde glücklich werden.
12 he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.	12 Er zerbricht die Ränke der Listigen, damit ihre Hände nichts Rechtes vollbringen.
13 He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.	13 Weise fängt er in ihrer List, damit der Schlauen Plan sich überstürzt.
14 In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.	14 Am hellen Tag stoßen sie auf Finsternis, am Mittag tappen sie umher wie in der Nacht.
15 He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.	15 Er rettet vor dem Schwert ihres Mundes, aus der Hand des Starken den Armen.
16 Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.	16 Hoffnung wird den Geringen zuteil, die Bosheit muss ihr Maul verschließen.
17 Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!	17 Ja, wohl dem Mann, den Gott zurechtweist. Die Zucht des Allmächtigen verschmähe nicht!
18 For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.	18 Denn er verwundet und er verbindet, er schlägt, doch seine Hände heilen auch.
19 Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.	19 In sechs Drangsalen wird er dich retten, in sieben rührt kein Leid dich an.
20 In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.	20 In Hungerzeiten rettet er dich vom Tod, im Krieg aus der Gewalt des Schwertes.
21 You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.	21 Du bist geborgen vor der Geißel der Zunge, brauchst nicht zu bangen, dass Verwüstung kommt.
22 You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.	22 Über Verwüstung und Hunger kannst du lachen, von wilden Tieren hast du nichts zu fürchten.
23 You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.	23 Mit den Steinen des Feldes bist du verbündet, die Tiere des Feldes werden Frieden mit dir halten.
24 You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.	24 Du wirst erfahren, dass dein Zelt in Frieden bleibt; prüfst du dein Heim, so fehlt dir nichts.
25 You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.	25 Du wirst erfahren, dass deine Nachkommen zahlreich sind, deine Sprösslinge wie das Gras der Erde.
26 At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.	26 Bei voller Kraft steigst du ins Grab, wie man Garben einbringt zu ihrer Zeit.
27 Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!	27 Ja, das haben wir erforscht, so ist es. Wir haben es gehört. Nimm auch du es an!
