1 Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?	1 Chama para ver se te respondem; a qual dos santos te dirigirás?
2 Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.	2 O arrebatamento mata o insensato, a inveja leva o tolo à morte.
3 I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.	3 Vi o insensato deitar raiz, e de repente sua morada apodreceu.
4 His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;	4 Seus filhos são privados de qualquer socorro, são pisados à porta, ninguém os defende.
5 their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.	5 O faminto come sua colheita e a leva embora, por detrás da cerca de espinhos, e os sequiosos engolem seus bens.
6 No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.	6 Pois o mal não sai do pó, e o sofrimento não brota da terra:
7 It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.	7 é o homem quem causa o sofrimento como as faíscas voam no ar.
8 If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.	8 Por isso, eu rogarei a Deus, apresentarei minha súplica ao Senhor.
9 His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.	9 Ele faz coisas grandes e insondáveis, maravilhas incalculáveis;
10 He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.	10 espalha a chuva sobre a terra, e derrama as águas sobre os campos;
11 If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,	11 exalta os humildes, e dá nova alegria aos que estão de luto;
12 he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.	12 frustra os projetos dos maus, cujas mãos não podem executar os planos;
13 He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.	13 apanha os jeitosos em suas próprias manhas, e os projetos dos astutos se tornam prematuros;
14 In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.	14 em pleno dia encontram as trevas, e andam às apalpadelas ao meio-dia como se fosse noite.
15 He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.	15 Salva o fraco da espada da língua deles, e o pobre da mão do poderoso;
16 Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.	16 volta a esperança ao infeliz, e é fechada a boca da iniqüidade.
17 Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!	17 Bem-aventurado o homem a quem Deus corrige! Não desprezes a lição do Todo-poderoso,
18 For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.	18 pois ele fere e cuida; se golpeia, sua mão cura.
19 Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.	19 Seis vezes te salvará da angústia, e, na sétima, o mal não te atingirá.
20 In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.	20 No tempo de fome, te preservará da morte, e, no combate, do gume da espada;
21 You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.	21 estarás a coberto do açoite da língua, não terás medo quando vires a ruína;
22 You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.	22 rirás das calamidades e da fome, não temerás as feras selvagens.
23 You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.	23 Farás um pacto com as pedras do chão, e os animais dos campos estarão em paz contigo.
24 You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.	24 Dentro de tua tenda conhecerás a paz, visitarás tuas terras, onde nada faltará;
25 You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.	25 verás tua posteridade multiplicar-se, e teus descendentes crescerem como a erva dos campos.
26 At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.	26 Entrarás maduro no sepulcro, como um feixe de trigo que se recolhe a seu tempo.
27 Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!	27 Eis o que observamos; é assim; eis o que aprendemos; tira proveito disso.
