1 Any hope you might have would be futile, the mere sight of him would overwhelm you.	1 תמשך לויתן בחכה ובחבל תשקיע לשנו
2 When roused, he grows ferocious, who could ever stand up to him?	2 התשים אגמון באפו ובחוח תקוב לחיו
3 Who has ever attacked him with impunity? No one beneath al heaven!	3 הירבה אליך תחנונים אם ידבר אליך רכות
4 Next I wil talk of his limbs and describe his matchless strength-	4 היכרת ברית עמך תקחנו לעבד עולם
5 who can undo the front of his tunic or pierce the double armour of his breastplate?	5 התשחק בו כצפור ותקשרנו לנערותיך
6 Who dare open the gates of his mouth? Terror reigns round his teeth!	6 יכרו עליו חברים יחצוהו בין כנענים
7 His back is like rows of shields, sealed with a stone seal,	7 התמלא בשכות עורו ובצלצל דגים ראשו
8 touching each other so close that no breath could pass between,	8 שים עליו כפך זכר מלחמה אל תוסף
9 sticking to one another making an impervious whole.	9 הן תחלתו נכזבה הגם אל מראיו יטל
10 His sneezes radiate light, his eyes are like the eyelashes of the dawn.	10 לא אכזר כי יעורנו ומי הוא לפני יתיצב
11 From his mouth come fiery torches, sparks of fire fly out of it.	11 מי הקדימני ואשלם תחת כל השמים לי הוא
12 His nostrils belch smoke like a cauldron boiling on the fire.	12 לא אחריש בדיו ודבר גבורות וחין ערכו
13 His breath could kindle coals, flame issues from his mouth.	13 מי גלה פני לבושו בכפל רסנו מי יבוא
14 His strength resides in his neck, violence leaps before him as he goes.	14 דלתי פניו מי פתח סביבות שניו אימה
15 The strips of his flesh are jointed together, firmly set in and immovable.	15 גאוה אפיקי מגנים סגור חותם צר
16 His heart is as hard as rock unyielding as the lower mil stone.	16 אחד באחד יגשו ורוח לא יבוא ביניהם
17 When he stands up, the waves take fright and the bil ows of the sea retreat.	17 איש באחיהו ידבקו יתלכדו ולא יתפרדו
18 Sword may strike but will not stick in him, no more will spear, javelin or lance.	18 עטישתיו תהל אור ועיניו כעפעפי שחר
19 Iron means no more to him than straw, nor bronze than rotten wood.	19 מפיו לפידים יהלכו כידודי אש יתמלטו
20 No arrow can make him flee, a sling-stone tickles him like hay.	20 מנחיריו יצא עשן כדוד נפוח ואגמן
21 Club seems to him like straw, he laughs at the whirring javelin.	21 נפשו גחלים תלהט ולהב מפיו יצא
22 He has sharp potsherds underneath, and moves across the slime like a harrow.	22 בצוארו ילין עז ולפניו תדוץ דאבה
23 He makes the depths seethe like a cauldron, he makes the sea fume like a scent burner.	23 מפלי בשרו דבקו יצוק עליו בל ימוט
24 Behind him he leaves a glittering wake -- a white fleece seems to float on the deeps.	24 לבו יצוק כמו אבן ויצוק כפלח תחתית
25 He has no equal on earth, being created without fear.	25 משתו יגורו אלים משברים יתחטאו
26 He looks the haughtiest in the eye; of al the lordly beasts he is king.	26 משיגהו חרב בלי תקום חנית מסע ושריה
	27 יחשב לתבן ברזל לעץ רקבון נחושה
	28 לא יבריחנו בן קשת לקש נהפכו לו אבני קלע
	29 כקש נחשבו תותח וישחק לרעש כידון
	30 תחתיו חדודי חרש ירפד חרוץ עלי טיט
	31 ירתיח כסיר מצולה ים ישים כמרקחה
	32 אחריו יאיר נתיב יחשב תהום לשיבה
	33 אין על עפר משלו העשו לבלי חת
	34 את כל גבה יראה הוא מלך על כל בני שחץ
