Psalms 90

1 LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.	1 [Gebet des Moses, des Mannes Gottes.] Herr, du warst uns eine Zuflucht von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.	2 Ehe die Berge geboren wurden, Erde und Welt entstanden, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit bist du, o Gott.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.	3 Du läßt den Menschen zum Staub zurückkehren und sprichst: "Kehret zurück, ihr Menschenkinder!"
4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.	4 Denn tausend Jahre sind vor dir wie der gestrige Tag, der vorüber ist, und wie eine Wache in der Nacht.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.	5 Du säst sie aus von Jahr zu Jahr, sie gleichen dem Gras, das nachwächst.
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.	6 Am Morgen sprießt es und wächst, am Abend welkt es und verdorrt.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.	7 Auch wir vergehen ob deines Zornes, durch deinen Grimm sind wir erschüttert.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.	8 Du stellst unsre Sünden dir vor Augen, unsre geheimen Fehler ins Licht deines Antlitzes.
9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.	9 Wahrlich, all unsre Tage schwinden ob deines Zornes; wir vollenden unsre Jahre wie einen Seufzer.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.	10 Die Zeit unsres Lebens währt insgesamt siebzig Jahre, wenn es hoch kommt, achtzig Jahre, und ihr Gehetze ist Mühsal und Unheil. Ja, eilends ist es dahin, im Fluge vergangen.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.	11 Wer nimmt Kenntnis von der Gewalt deines Zornes und deines Grimmes, wie es der Furcht vor dir entspricht?
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.	12 Unsre Tage zu zählen, das lehre uns, damit wir ein weises Herz erlangen!
13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.	13 Kehre um, o Herr! Wie lange noch? Hab wieder Erbarmen mit deinen Dienern!
14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.	14 Sättige uns am Morgen mit deiner Huld, daß wir frohlocken und jubeln unser Leben lang!
15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.	15 Erfreue uns so viele Tage, wie du uns niederbeugtest, so viele Jahre, wie wir Leid erfuhren!
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.	16 Dein Walten zeige sich an deinen Dienern, an ihren Kindern deine Herrlichkeit!
17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.	17 Die Güte des Herrn, unseres Gottes, sei über uns! Das Werk unsrer Hände lenke über uns, ja, lenke das Werk unsrer Hände!
