Lettera ai Filippesi 1

1 Paolo, e Timoteo servi di Gesù Cristo a tutti i santi in Cristo Gesù, che sono a Filippi, insieme co' vescovi, e diaconi.	1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.
2 Grazia a voi, e pace da Dio padre nostro, e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Rendo grazie al mio Dio ogni volta ché mi ricordo di voi,	3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,
4 (Porgendo sempre suppliche per tutti voi in ogni mia orazione con gaudio)	4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy
5 A motivo della partecipazione vostra al vangelo di Cristo dal primo dì fino ad ora:	5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.
6 Avendo pur questa speranza, che colui, il quale ha principiato in voi la buona opera, la perfezionerà fino al giorno di Cristo Gesù:	6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.
7 Conforme è giusto, ch'io pensi così di tutti voi, a motivo, che ho fisso in cuore, come voi e nelle mie catene, e nella difesa, e confermazione del vangelo siete tutti compagni del mio gaudio.	7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.
8 Imperocché testimone è a me Dio, in qual modo io ami tutti voi nello viscere di Gesù Cristo.	8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;
9 E questo io domando, che la carità vostra abbondi ancora più, e più in cognizione, e in ogni discernimento:	9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding
10 Affinchè eleggiate il meglio, affinchè siate schietti, e sicuri da inciampo fino al giorno di Cristo,	10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,
11 Ricolmi di frutti di giustizia per Gesù Cristo a lode e gloria di Dio.	11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.
12 Or io voglio, che voi sappiate, o fratelli, come le cose avvenutemi si sono maggiormente rivolte in profitto del vangelo:	12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.
13 Di modo, che le catene mie per Cristo sono diventate note a tutto il pretorio, e a tutti gli altri.	13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,
14 E molti de' fratelli nel Signore preso coraggio dalle mie catene, hanno avuto maggior ardimento di annunziare senza timore la parola di Dio.	14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.
15 Alcuni veramente per invidia, e per picca, alcuni poi ancora con buona volontà predicano Cristo;	15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;
16 Alcuni per carità sapendo, com'io sono stato collocato alla difesa del vangelo;	16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.
17 Altri poi per picca annunziano Cristo, non sinceramente, credendo di aggiungere afflizione alle mie catene.	17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.
18 Ma che? Purché in ogni modo, o per pretesto, o con lealtà Cristo sia predicato; di questo io pur godo, e ancora ne goderò.	18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;
19 Imperocché io so, che questo gioverammi a salute per la vostra orazione, e pel soccorso dello Spirito di Gesù Cristo,	19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;
20 Secondo la aspettazione, e speranza mia, che in niuna cosa sarò confuso: ma con tutta fidanza come sempre, così adesso sarà esaltato Cristo nel corpo mio sia per la morte, sia per la vita.	20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.
21 Imperocché il mio vivere è Cristo, ed il morire un guadagno.	21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.
22 Se poi questo vivere nella carne compie a me pel lavoro, o io qual cosa mi elegga, non so.	22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.
23 E sono messo alle strette da due lati: bramando di essere disciolta, e di esser con Cristo, che è meglio d'assai:	23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-
24 Ma il restar nella carne (è) necessario riguardo a voi.	24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.
25 E affidato su questo io so, che resterò, e farò mia dimora con tutti voi per vostro profitto, e per gaudio della fede:	25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,
26 Onde più abbondanti siano le vostre congratulazioni riguardo a me in Cristo Gesù nel mio nuovo ritorno a voi.	26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.
27 Diportatevi soltanto, come esige il vangelo di Cristo: affinchè o venga io, e vi vegga, o lontano senta parlar di voi, siate costanti in un solo spirito, in una sola anima, cooperando per la fede del vangelo:	27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,
28 Nè per cosa alcuna siate atterriti dagli avversari; quel, che è per essi causa di perdizione, lo è di salute per voi, e questo è da Dio:	28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.
29 Imperocché per mezzo di Cristo a voi è stato dato il dono non solo di credere in lui, ma anche di patire per lui:	29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;
30 Sostenendo lo stesso conflitto, che vedeste in me, e ora avete udito di me.	30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.
