Ezechiele 14

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Vennero a trovarmi alcuni anziani d'Israele e sedettero dinanzi a me.	1 Next, some elders of Israel visited me and while they were sitting with me,
2 Mi fu rivolta allora questa parola del Signore:	2 the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
3 "Figlio dell'uomo, questi uomini hanno posto idoli nel loro cuore e tengono fisso lo sguardo all'occasione della loro iniquità appena si mostri. Mi lascerò interrogare da loro?	3 'Son of man, these men have enshrined their foul idols in their hearts and placed the cause of theirsinning right before their eyes. Why should I let myself be consulted by them?
4 Parla quindi e di' loro: Dice il Signore Dio: Qualunque Israelita avrà innalzato i suoi idoli nel proprio cuore e avrà rivolto lo sguardo all'occasione della propria iniquità e verrà dal profeta, gli risponderò io, il Signore, riguardo alla moltitudine dei suoi idoli,	4 So speak to them; tel them this, "Lord Yahweh says this: Every member of the House of Israel whoenshrines his foul idols in his heart and places the cause of his sinning right before his eyes, and who thenapproaches the prophet, wil get this answer from me, Yahweh, as the multiplicity of his idols deserves,
5 per raggiungere al cuore gli Israeliti, che si sono allontanati da me a causa di tutti i loro idoli.	5 and in this way I hope to win back the hearts of the House of Israel who have al been estranged fromme by their foul idols."
6 Riferisci pertanto al popolo d'Israele: Dice il Signore Dio: Convertitevi, abbandonate i vostri idoli e distogliete la faccia da tutte le vostre immondezze,	6 'So say to the House of Israel, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Come back, turn away from your foulidols, turn your backs on al your loathsome practices;
7 poiché a qualunque Israelita e a qualunque straniero abitante in Israele, che si allontana da me e innalza nel suo cuore i suoi idoli e rivolge lo sguardo all'occasione della propria iniquità e poi viene dal profeta a consultarmi, risponderò io, il Signore, da me stesso.	7 for if any member of the House of Israel -- or any foreigner living in Israel -- deserts me to enshrine hisfoul idols in his heart and places the cause of his sinning right before his eyes and then approaches a prophet toconsult me through him, he will get his answer from me, Yahweh.
8 Distoglierò la faccia da costui e ne farò un esempio e un proverbio, e lo sterminerò dal mio popolo: saprete così che io sono il Signore.	8 I shal set my face against that person; I shall make him an example and a byword; I shal rid mypeople of him, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.
9 Se un profeta si lascia sedurre e fa una profezia, io, il Signore, ho sedotto quel profeta: stenderò la mano contro di lui e lo cancellerò dal mio popolo Israele.	9 And if the prophet is seduced into saying something, I, Yahweh, shall have seduced that prophet; Ishall point my finger at him and rid my people Israel of him.
10 Ambedue porteranno la pena della loro iniquità. La pena di chi consulta sarà uguale a quella del profeta,	10 Both wil be punished for their guilt; the prophet's punishment wil be the same as that of the personwho consults him,
11 perché gli Israeliti non vadano più errando lontano da me, né più si contaminino con tutte le loro prevaricazioni: essi saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro Dio. Parola del Signore".	11 so that the House of Israel wil never stray from me again or defile themselves again with thesecrimes, but be my people and I their God -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
12 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	12 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me:
13 "Figlio dell'uomo, se un paese pecca contro di me e si rende infedele, io stendo la mano sopra di lui e gli tolgo la riserva del pane e gli mando contro la fame e stérmino uomini e bestie;	13 'Son of man, when a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I point my finger at it anddestroy its supply of food, inflicting famine on it and denuding it of human and animal,
14 anche se nel paese vivessero questi tre uomini: Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, essi con la loro giustizia salverebbero solo se stessi, dice il Signore Dio.	14 even if the three men, Noah, Danel and Job, were living in it, they would save no one but themselvesby their uprightness -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
15 Oppure se io infestassi quel paese di bestie feroci, che lo privassero dei suoi figli e ne facessero un deserto che nessuno potesse attraversare a causa delle bestie feroci,	15 Were I to unleash wild beasts on that country to rob it of its children and reduce it to a desert whichno one would dare to cross because of the animals,
16 anche se in mezzo a quella terra ci fossero questi tre uomini, giuro com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore Dio: non salverebbero né figli né figlie, soltanto loro si salverebbero, ma la terra sarebbe un deserto.	16 even if these three men were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they would not beable to save either son or daughter; they alone would be saved, and the country would become a desert.
17 Oppure, se io mandassi la spada contro quel paese e dicessi: Spada, percorri quel paese; e sterminassi uomini e bestie,	17 Were I to bring the sword down on that country and say, "Sword, cross the country!" so as to denude it of human and animal,
18 anche se in mezzo a quel paese ci fossero questi tre uomini, giuro com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore: non salverebbero né figli né figlie, soltanto loro si salverebbero.	18 even if these three men were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they would not beable to save either son or daughter; they alone would be saved.
19 Oppure, se io mandassi la peste contro quella terra e sfogassi nella strage lo sdegno e sterminassi uomini e bestie,	19 If I were to send the plague on that country and vent my fury on it by bloodshed, so as to denude it ofhuman and animal,
20 anche se in mezzo a quella terra ci fossero Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, giuro com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore Dio: non salverebbero né figli né figlie, soltanto essi si salverebbero per la loro giustizia.	20 even if Noah and Danel and Job were living there, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- they wouldbe able to save neither son nor daughter, only themselves by their uprightness.
21 Dice infatti il Signore Dio: Quando manderò contro Gerusalemme i miei quattro tremendi castighi: la spada, la fame, le bestie feroci e la peste, per estirpare da essa uomini e bestie,	21 'The Lord Yahweh says this, "Even if I send my four dreadful scourges on Jerusalem-sword, famine,wild beasts and plague -- to denude it of human and animal,
22 ecco vi sarà in mezzo un residuo che si metterà in salvo con i figli e le figlie. Essi verranno da voi perché vediate la loro condotta e le loro opere e vi consoliate del male che ho mandato contro Gerusalemme, di quanto ho mandato contro di lei.	22 even so, there wil be a remnant left, a few men and women who come through; when they come toyou and you see their conduct and actions, you wil take comfort in spite of the disaster which I have brought onJerusalem, in spite of al I have brought on her.
23 Essi vi consoleranno quando vedrete la loro condotta e le loro opere e saprete che non invano ho fatto quello che ho fatto in mezzo a lei". Parola del Signore Dio.	23 They will comfort you, when you see their conduct and actions, and so you wil know that I have notdone in vain al I have done to her -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
