Ezechiele 14

1 Vennero a trovarmi alcuni anziani d'Israele e sedettero dinanzi a me.	1 When certain elders of Israel came and sat down before me,
2 Mi fu rivolta allora questa parola del Signore:	2 the word of the LORD came to me:
3 "Figlio dell'uomo, questi uomini hanno posto idoli nel loro cuore e tengono fisso lo sguardo all'occasione della loro iniquità appena si mostri. Mi lascerò interrogare da loro?	3 Son of man, these men have the memory of their idols fresh in their hearts, and they keep the occasion of their sin before them. Why should I allow myself to be consulted by them?
4 Parla quindi e di' loro: Dice il Signore Dio: Qualunque Israelita avrà innalzato i suoi idoli nel proprio cuore e avrà rivolto lo sguardo all'occasione della propria iniquità e verrà dal profeta, gli risponderò io, il Signore, riguardo alla moltitudine dei suoi idoli,	4 Therefore speak with them, and say to them: Thus says the Lord GOD: If anyone of the house of Israel, holding the memory of his idols in his heart and keeping the occasion of his sin before him, has recourse to a prophet, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person because of his many idols.
5 per raggiungere al cuore gli Israeliti, che si sono allontanati da me a causa di tutti i loro idoli.	5 Thus would I bring back to their senses the house of Israel, who have become estranged from me through all their idols.
6 Riferisci pertanto al popolo d'Israele: Dice il Signore Dio: Convertitevi, abbandonate i vostri idoli e distogliete la faccia da tutte le vostre immondezze,	6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Return and be converted from your idols; turn yourselves away from all your abominations.
7 poiché a qualunque Israelita e a qualunque straniero abitante in Israele, che si allontana da me e innalza nel suo cuore i suoi idoli e rivolge lo sguardo all'occasione della propria iniquità e poi viene dal profeta a consultarmi, risponderò io, il Signore, da me stesso.	7 For if anyone of the house of Israel or any alien resident in Israel is estranged from me, and holds the memory of his idols in his heart and keeps the occasion of his sin before him, yet asks a prophet to consult me for him, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person.
8 Distoglierò la faccia da costui e ne farò un esempio e un proverbio, e lo sterminerò dal mio popolo: saprete così che io sono il Signore.	8 I will turn against that man, and make of him an example and a byword. I will cut him off from the midst of my people. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
9 Se un profeta si lascia sedurre e fa una profezia, io, il Signore, ho sedotto quel profeta: stenderò la mano contro di lui e lo cancellerò dal mio popolo Israele.	9 As for the prophet, if he is beguiled into speaking a word, I, the LORD, shall have beguiled that prophet; I will stretch out my hand against him and root him out of my people Israel.
10 Ambedue porteranno la pena della loro iniquità. La pena di chi consulta sarà uguale a quella del profeta,	10 Each shall receive punishment for his sin, the inquirer and the prophet shall be punished alike,
11 perché gli Israeliti non vadano più errando lontano da me, né più si contaminino con tutte le loro prevaricazioni: essi saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro Dio. Parola del Signore".	11 so that the house of Israel may no longer stray from me and may no longer be defiled by all their sins. Thus they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord GOD.
12 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	12 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:
13 "Figlio dell'uomo, se un paese pecca contro di me e si rende infedele, io stendo la mano sopra di lui e gli tolgo la riserva del pane e gli mando contro la fame e stérmino uomini e bestie;	13 Son of man, when a land sins against me by breaking faith, I stretch out my hand against it and break its staff of bread, I let famine loose upon it and cut off from it both man and beast;
14 anche se nel paese vivessero questi tre uomini: Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, essi con la loro giustizia salverebbero solo se stessi, dice il Signore Dio.	14 and even if these three men were in it, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they could save only themselves by their virtue, says the Lord GOD.
15 Oppure se io infestassi quel paese di bestie feroci, che lo privassero dei suoi figli e ne facessero un deserto che nessuno potesse attraversare a causa delle bestie feroci,	15 If I were to cause wild beasts to prowl the land, depopulating it so that it became a waste, traversed by none because of the wild beasts,
16 anche se in mezzo a quella terra ci fossero questi tre uomini, giuro com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore Dio: non salverebbero né figli né figlie, soltanto loro si salverebbero, ma la terra sarebbe un deserto.	16 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear they could save neither sons nor daughters; they alone would be saved, and the land would be a waste.
17 Oppure, se io mandassi la spada contro quel paese e dicessi: Spada, percorri quel paese; e sterminassi uomini e bestie,	17 Or if I brought the sword upon this country, commanding the sword to pass through the land cutting off from it man and beast,
18 anche se in mezzo a quel paese ci fossero questi tre uomini, giuro com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore: non salverebbero né figli né figlie, soltanto loro si salverebbero.	18 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would be unable to save either sons or daughters; they alone would be saved.
19 Oppure, se io mandassi la peste contro quella terra e sfogassi nella strage lo sdegno e sterminassi uomini e bestie,	19 Or if I were to send pestilence into this land, pouring out upon it my bloodthirsty fury, cutting off from it man and beast,
20 anche se in mezzo a quella terra ci fossero Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, giuro com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore Dio: non salverebbero né figli né figlie, soltanto essi si salverebbero per la loro giustizia.	20 even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear that they could save neither son nor daughter; they would save only themselves by their virtue.
21 Dice infatti il Signore Dio: Quando manderò contro Gerusalemme i miei quattro tremendi castighi: la spada, la fame, le bestie feroci e la peste, per estirpare da essa uomini e bestie,	21 Thus says the Lord GOD: Even though I send Jerusalem my four cruel punishments, the sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast,
22 ecco vi sarà in mezzo un residuo che si metterà in salvo con i figli e le figlie. Essi verranno da voi perché vediate la loro condotta e le loro opere e vi consoliate del male che ho mandato contro Gerusalemme, di quanto ho mandato contro di lei.	22 still some survivors shall be left in it who will bring out sons and daughters; when they come out to you, you shall see their conduct and their actions and be consoled regarding the evil I have brought on Jerusalem (all that I have brought upon it).
23 Essi vi consoleranno quando vedrete la loro condotta e le loro opere e saprete che non invano ho fatto quello che ho fatto in mezzo a lei". Parola del Signore Dio.	23 They shall console you when you see their conduct and actions, for you shall then know that it was not without reason that I did to it what I did, says the Lord GOD.
