1 Libro de la generación de Jesucristo, hijo de David, hijo de Abraham:	1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham engendró a Isaac, Isaac engendró a Jacob, Jacob engendró a Judá y a sus hermanos,	2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 Judá engrendró, de Tamar, a Fares y a Zara, Fares engendró a Esrom, Esrom engendró a Aram,	3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 Aram engendró a Aminadab, Aminadab engrendró a Naassón, Naassón engendró a Salmón,	4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 Salmón engendró, de Rajab, a Booz, Booz engendró, de Rut, a Obed, Obed engendró a Jesé,	5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 Jesé engendró al rey David. David engendró, de la que fue mujer de Urías, a Salomón,	6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 Salomón engendró a Roboam, Roboam engendró a Abiá, Abiá engendró a Asaf,	7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 Asaf engendró a Josafat, Josafat engendró a Joram, Joram engendró a Ozías,	8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 Ozías engendró a Joatam, Joatam engendró a Acaz, Acaz engendró a Ezequías,	9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 Ezequías engendró a Manasés, Manasés engendró a Amón, Amón engendró a Josías,	10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 Josías engendró a Jeconías y a sus hermanos, cuando la deportación a Babilonia.	11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 Después de la deportación a Babilonia, Jeconías engendró a Salatiel, Salatiel engendró a Zorobabel,	12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 Zorobabel engendró a Abiud, Abiud engendró a Eliakim, Eliakim engendró a Azor,	13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 Azor engendró a Sadoq, Sadoq engendró a Aquim, Aquim engendró a Eliud,	14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 Eliud engendró a Eleazar, Eleazar engendró a Mattán, Mattán engendró a Jacob,	15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 y Jacob engendró a José, el esposo de María, de la que nació Jesús, llamado Cristo.	16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Así que el total de las generaciones son: desde Abraham hasta David, catorce generaciones; desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce generaciones; desde la deportación a Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce generaciones.	17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 La generación de Jesucristo fue de esta manera: Su madre, María, estaba desposada con José y, antes de empezar a estar juntos ellos, se encontró encinta por obra del Espíritu Santo.	18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Su marido José, como era justo y no quería ponerla en evidencia, resolvió repudiarla en secreto.	19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 Así lo tenía planeado, cuando el Angel del Señor se le apareció en sueños y le dijo: «José, hijo de David, no temas tomar contigo a María tu mujer porque lo engendrado en ella es del Espíritu Santo.	20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 Dará a luz un hijo, y tú le pondrás por nombre Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados».	21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliese el oráculo del Señor por medio del profeta:	22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Ved que la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrán por nombre Emmanuel, que traducido significa: «Dios con nosotros».	23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Despertado José del sueño, hizo como el Angel del Señor le había mandado, y tomó consigo a su mujer.	24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 Y no la conocía hasta que ella dio a luz un hijo, y le puso por nombre Jesús.	25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
