BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Oíd, pues, reyes, y enteded. Aprended, jueces de los confines de la tierra.	1 Listen then, kings, and understand; rulers of remotest lands, take warning;
2 Estad atentos los que gobernáis multitudes y estáis orgullosos de la muchedumbre de vuestros pueblos.	2 hear this, you who govern great populations, taking pride in your hosts of subject nations!
3 Porque del Señor habéis recibido el poder, del Altísimo, la soberanía; él examinará vuestras obras y sondeará vuestras intenciones.	3 For sovereignty is given to you by the Lord and power by the Most High, who will himself probe youracts and scrutinise your intentions.
4 Si, como ministros que sois de su reino, no habéis juzgado rectamente, ni observado la ley, ni caminado siguiendo la voluntad de Dios,	4 If therefore, as servants of his kingdom, you have not ruled justly nor observed the law, nor fol owed thewil of God,
5 terrible y repentino se presentará ante vosotros. Porque un juicio implacable espera a los que están en lo alto;	5 he wil fal on you swiftly and terribly. On the highly placed a ruthless judgement falls;
6 al pequeño, por piedad, se le perdona, pero los poderosos serán poderosamente examinados.	6 the lowly are pardoned, out of pity, but the mighty wil be mightily tormented.
7 Que el Señor de todos ante nadie retrocede, no hay grandeza que se le imponga; al pequeño como al grande él mismo los hizo y de todos tiene igual cuidado,	7 For the Lord of al does not cower before anyone, he does not stand in awe of greatness, since hehimself has made small and great and provides for al alike;
8 pero una investigación severa aguarda a los que están en el poder.	8 but a searching trial awaits those who wield power.
9 A vosotros, pues, soberanos, se dirigen mis palabras para que aprendaís sabiduría y no faltéis;	9 So, monarchs, my words are meant for you, so that you may learn wisdom and not fal into error;
10 porque los que guarden santamente las cosas santas, serán reconocidos santos, y los que se dejen instruir en ellas, encontrarán defensa.	10 for those who in holiness observe holy things will be adjudged holy, and, accepting instruction fromthem, wil find their defence in them.
11 Desead, pues, mis palabras; ansiadlas, que ellas os instruirán.	11 Set your heart, therefore, on what I have to say, listen with a wil , and you wil be instructed.
12 Radiante e inmarcesible es la Sabiduría. Fácilmente la contemplan los que la aman y la encuentran los que la buscan.	12 Wisdom is bril iant, she never fades. By those who love her, she is readily seen, by those who seekher, she is readily found.
13 Se anticipa a darse a conocer a los que la anhelan.	13 She anticipates those who desire her by making herself known first.
14 Quien madruge para buscarla, no se fatigará, que a su puerta la encontrará sentada.	14 Whoever gets up early to seek her will have no trouble but wil find her sitting at the door.
15 Pensar en ella es la perfección de la prudencia, y quien por ella se desvele, pronto se verá sin cuidados.	15 Meditating on her is understanding in its perfect form, and anyone keeping awake for her will soon befree from care.
16 Pues ella misma va por todas partes buscando a los que son dignos de ella: se les muestra benévola en los caminos y les sale al encuentro en todos sus pensamientos.	16 For she herself searches everywhere for those who are worthy of her, benevolently appearing to them on their ways, anticipating their every thought.
17 Pues su comienzo es el deseo más verdadero de instrucción, la preocupación por la instrucción es el amor,	17 For Wisdom begins with the sincere desire for instruction, care for instruction means loving her,
18 el amor es la observancia de sus leyes, la atención a las leyes es la garantía de la incorruptibilidad	18 loving her means keeping her laws, attention to her laws guarantees incorruptibility,
19 y la incorruptibilidad hace estar cerca de Dios;	19 and incorruptibility brings us near to God;
20 por tanto, el deseo de la Sabiduría conduce a la realeza.	20 the desire for Wisdom thus leads to sovereignty.
21 Si, pues, gustáis de tronos y cetros, soberanos de los pueblos, apreciad la Sabiduría para reinéis eternamente.	21 If then thrones and sceptres delight you, monarchs of the nations, honour Wisdom, so that you mayreign for ever.
22 Qué es la Sabiduría y cómo ha nacido lo voy a declarar; no os ocultaré los misterios, sino que seguiré sus huellas desde el comienzo de su existencia, pondré su conocimiento al descubierto y no me apartaré de la verdad.	22 What Wisdom is and how she was born, I shal now explain; I shal hide no mysteries from you, butshall fol ow her steps from the outset of her origin, setting out what we know of her in ful light, without departingfrom the truth.
23 Tampoco me acompañará en mi camino la envidia mezquina, que nada tiene que ver con la Sabiduría.	23 Blighting envy is no companion for me, for envy has nothing in common with Wisdom.
24 Pues la abundancia de sabios es la salvación del mundo y un rey prudente, la estabilidad del pueblo.	24 In the greatest number of the wise lies the world's salvation, in a sagacious king the stability of apeople.
25 Dejaos, pues, instruir por mis palabras: os serán útiles.	25 Learn, therefore, from my words; the gain will be yours.
