Final y, brothers, pray for us that the Lord's message may spread quickly, and be received with honouras it was among you;1 Concerning other things, brothers, pray for us, so that the Word of God may advance and be glorified, just as it is among you,
and pray that we may be preserved from bigoted and evil people, for not everyone has faith.2 and so that we may be freed from pertinacious and evil men. For not everyone is faithful.
You can rely on the Lord, who wil give you strength and guard you from the evil One,3 But God is faithful. He will strengthen you, and he will guard you from evil.
and we, in the Lord, have every confidence in you, that you are doing and wil go on doing al that wetel you.4 And we have confidence about you in the Lord, that you are doing, and will continue to do, just as we have instructed.
May the Lord turn your hearts towards the love of God and the perseverance of Christ.5 And may the Lord direct your hearts, in the charity of God and with the patience of Christ.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge you, brothers, to keep away from any of the brothers wholives an undisciplined life, not in accordance with the tradition you received from us.6 But we strongly caution you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to draw yourselves away from every brother who is walking in disorder and not according to the tradition that they received from us.
You know how you should take us as your model: we were not undisciplined when we were with you,7 For you yourselves know the manner in which you ought to imitate us. For we were not disorderly among you.
nor did we ever accept food from anyone without paying for it; no, we worked with unsparing energy, night and day, so as not to be a burden on any of you.8 Nor did we eat bread from anyone for free, but rather, we worked night and day, in hardship and weariness, so as not to be burdensome to you.
This was not because we had no right to be, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to imitate.9 It was not as if we had no authority, but this was so that we might present ourselves as an example to you, in order to imitate us.
We urged you when we were with you not to let anyone eat who refused to work.10 Then, too, while we were with you, we insisted on this to you: that if anyone was not willing to work, neither should he eat.
Now we hear that there are some of you who are living lives without any discipline, doing no workthemselves but interfering with other people's.11 For we have heard that there are some among you who act disruptively, not working at all, but eagerly meddling.
In the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge and cal on people of this kind to go on quietly working and earningthe food that they eat.12 Now we charge those who act in this way, and we beg them in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work in silence and eat their own bread.
My brothers, never slacken in doing what is right.13 And you, brothers, do not grow weak in doing good.
If anyone refuses to obey what I have written in this letter, take note of him and have nothing to dowith him, so that he wil be ashamed of himself,14 But if anyone does not obey our word by this epistle, take note of him and do not keep company with him, so that he may be ashamed.
though you are not to treat him as an enemy, but to correct him as a brother.15 But do not be willing to consider him as an enemy; instead, correct him as a brother.
May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at al times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.16 Then may the Lord of peace himself give you an everlasting peace, in every place. May the Lord be with all of you.
This greeting is in my own hand-PAUL. It is the mark of genuineness in every letter; this is my own writing.17 The greeting of Paul with my own hand, which is the seal in every epistle. So do I write.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
