1 Final y, brothers, pray for us that the Lord's message may spread quickly, and be received with honouras it was among you;	1 Per il resto, fratelli, pregate per noi, perché la parola del Signore corra e sia glorificata, come lo è anche tra voi,
2 and pray that we may be preserved from bigoted and evil people, for not everyone has faith.	2 e veniamo liberati dagli uomini corrotti e malvagi. La fede infatti non è di tutti.
3 You can rely on the Lord, who wil give you strength and guard you from the evil One,	3 Ma il Signore è fedele: egli vi confermerà e vi custodirà dal Maligno.
4 and we, in the Lord, have every confidence in you, that you are doing and wil go on doing al that wetel you.	4 Riguardo a voi, abbiamo questa fiducia nel Signore: che quanto noi vi ordiniamo già lo facciate e continuerete a farlo.
5 May the Lord turn your hearts towards the love of God and the perseverance of Christ.	5 Il Signore guidi i vostri cuori all’amore di Dio e alla pazienza di Cristo.
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge you, brothers, to keep away from any of the brothers wholives an undisciplined life, not in accordance with the tradition you received from us.	6 Fratelli, nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, vi raccomandiamo di tenervi lontani da ogni fratello che conduce una vita disordinata, non secondo l’insegnamento che vi è stato trasmesso da noi.
7 You know how you should take us as your model: we were not undisciplined when we were with you,	7 Sapete in che modo dovete prenderci a modello: noi infatti non siamo rimasti oziosi in mezzo a voi,
8 nor did we ever accept food from anyone without paying for it; no, we worked with unsparing energy,night and day, so as not to be a burden on any of you.	8 né abbiamo mangiato gratuitamente il pane di alcuno, ma abbiamo lavorato duramente, notte e giorno, per non essere di peso ad alcuno di voi.
9 This was not because we had no right to be, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to imitate.	9 Non che non ne avessimo diritto, ma per darci a voi come modello da imitare.
10 We urged you when we were with you not to let anyone eat who refused to work.	10 E infatti quando eravamo presso di voi, vi abbiamo sempre dato questa regola: chi non vuole lavorare, neppure mangi.
11 Now we hear that there are some of you who are living lives without any discipline, doing no workthemselves but interfering with other people's.	11 Sentiamo infatti che alcuni fra voi vivono una vita disordinata, senza fare nulla e sempre in agitazione.
12 In the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge and cal on people of this kind to go on quietly working and earningthe food that they eat.	12 A questi tali, esortandoli nel Signore Gesù Cristo, ordiniamo di guadagnarsi il pane lavorando con tranquillità.
13 My brothers, never slacken in doing what is right.	13 Ma voi, fratelli, non stancatevi di fare il bene.
14 If anyone refuses to obey what I have written in this letter, take note of him and have nothing to dowith him, so that he wil be ashamed of himself,	14 Se qualcuno non obbedisce a quanto diciamo in questa lettera, prendete nota di lui e interrompete i rapporti, perché si vergogni;
15 though you are not to treat him as an enemy, but to correct him as a brother.	15 non trattatelo però come un nemico, ma ammonitelo come un fratello.
16 May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at al times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.	16 Il Signore della pace vi dia la pace sempre e in ogni modo. Il Signore sia con tutti voi.
