2 Thessalonians 3

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Final y, brothers, pray for us that the Lord's message may spread quickly, and be received with honouras it was among you;	1 Enfin, frères, priez pour nous, demandant que la parole du Seigneur accomplisse sa courseet soit glorifiée, comme elle le fait chez vous,
2 and pray that we may be preserved from bigoted and evil people, for not everyone has faith.	2 et que nous soyons délivrés de ces hommes égarés et mauvais - car la foi n'est pas donnéeà tous.
3 You can rely on the Lord, who wil give you strength and guard you from the evil One,	3 Mais le Seigneur est fidèle: il vous affermira et vous gardera du Mauvais.
4 and we, in the Lord, have every confidence in you, that you are doing and wil go on doing al that wetel you.	4 Nous avons d'ailleurs, dans le Seigneur, toute confiance en vous: ce que nous vousprescrivons, vous le faites et vous continuerez de le faire.
5 May the Lord turn your hearts towards the love of God and the perseverance of Christ.	5 Que le Seigneur dirige vos coeurs vers l'amour de Dieu et la constance du Christ.
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge you, brothers, to keep away from any of the brothers wholives an undisciplined life, not in accordance with the tradition you received from us.	6 Or nous vous prescrivons, frères, au nom du Seigneur Jésus Christ, de vous tenir àdistance de tout frère qui mène une vie désordonnée et ne se conforme pas à la tradition que vous avez reçue denous.
7 You know how you should take us as your model: we were not undisciplined when we were with you,	7 Car vous savez bien comment il faut nous imiter. Nous n'avons pas eu une viedésordonnée parmi vous,
8 nor did we ever accept food from anyone without paying for it; no, we worked with unsparing energy,night and day, so as not to be a burden on any of you.	8 nous ne nous sommes fait donner par personne le pain que nous mangions, mais de nuitcomme de jour nous étions au travail, dans le labeur et la fatigue, pour n'être à la charge d'aucun de vous:
9 This was not because we had no right to be, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to imitate.	9 non pas que nous n'en ayons le pouvoir, mais nous entendions vous proposer en nous unmodèle à imiter.
10 We urged you when we were with you not to let anyone eat who refused to work.	10 Et puis, quand nous étions près de vous, nous vous donnions cette règle: si quelqu'un neveut pas travailler, qu'il ne mange pas non plus.
11 Now we hear that there are some of you who are living lives without any discipline, doing no workthemselves but interfering with other people's.	11 Or nous entendons dire qu'il en est parmi vous qui mènent une vie désordonnée, netravaillant pas du tout mais se mêlant de tout.
12 In the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge and cal on people of this kind to go on quietly working and earningthe food that they eat.	12 Ceux-là, nous les invitons et engageons dans le Seigneur Jésus Christ à travailler dans lecalme et à manger le pain qu'ils auront eux-mêmes gagné.
13 My brothers, never slacken in doing what is right.	13 Pour vous, frères, ne vous lassez pas de faire le bien.
14 If anyone refuses to obey what I have written in this letter, take note of him and have nothing to dowith him, so that he wil be ashamed of himself,	14 Si quelqu'un n'obéit pas aux indications de cette lettre, notez-le, et, pour sa confusion,cessez de frayer avec lui;
15 though you are not to treat him as an enemy, but to correct him as a brother.	15 cependant ne le traitez pas en ennemi, mais reprenez-le comme un frère.
16 May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at al times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.	16 Que le Seigneur de la paix vous donne lui-même la paix en tout temps et de toutemanière. Que le Seigneur soit avec vous tous.
17 This greeting is in my own hand-PAUL. It is the mark of genuineness in every letter; this is my own writing.	17 Ce salut est de ma main, à moi Paul. C'est le signe qui distingue toutes mes lettres. Voiciquelle est mon écriture.
