1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:	1 Господь промовив до Мойсея в Синай-пустині, в наметі зборів, першого дня другого місяця, на другий рік по виході з Єгипетської землі:
2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites by clans and families, taking a count of the namesof al the males, head by head.	2 «Перелічіть усю громаду синів Ізраїля, за родинами їхніми, за батьківськими домами їхніми, рахуючи на ймення поголовно всіх чоловічої статі.
3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;	3 Від двадцятьох років і старше, кожного, хто здатний до військової служби в Ізраїлі, перелічіть їх за полками їхніми, ти й Арон;
4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.	4 і нехай будуть з вами представники від колін, один від кожного, всі голови у своїх батьківських домах.
5 'These are the names of those who must help you: For Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur.	5 Ось імена тих мужів, що стоятимуть при вас: від Рувима: Еліцур, син Шедеура.
6 For Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.	6 Від Симеона: Шелумієл, син Цурішаддая.

15 For Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.'	15 Від Нафталі: Ахіра, син Енана.»
16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.	16 Оці були вибрані з громади, князі з батьківських колін, що були голови над тисячами в Ізраїлі.

18 and on the first day of the second month they mustered the whole community. The Israelitesestablished their pedigrees by clans and families, and one by one the names of all men of twenty years and overwere recorded.	18 і першого дня другого місяця скликали всю громаду й списали за їхніми родами, за батьківськими домами, рахуючи на ймення, від двадцятьох років і вище, поголовно.
19 As Yahweh had ordered, Moses registered them in the desert of Sinai.	19 Як заповідав Господь Мойсеєві, так і перелічив він їх у Синайській пустині.
20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	20 І було синів Рувима, первістка Ізраїля, їхніх нащадків, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків, від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,
21 The total of these for the tribe of Reuben was forty-six thousand five hundred.	21 порахованих з коліна Рувима, 46 500.
22 Once the pedigrees of Simeon's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	22 Синів Симеона, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків, від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,
23 The total of these for the tribe of Simeon was fifty-nine thousand three hundred.	23 порахованих синів Симеона, 59 300.
24 Once the pedigrees of Gad's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	24 Синів Гада, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків, від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,
25 The total of these for the tribe of Gad was forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.	25 порахованих з коліна Гада, 45650.
26 Once the pedigrees of Judah's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	26 Синів Юди, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків, від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,
27 The total of these for the tribe of Judah was seventy-four thousand six hundred.	27 порахованих з коліна Юди, 74600.

32 As regards the descendants of Joseph: once the pedigrees of Ephraim's descendants had beenestablished by clans and families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, wererecorded one by one.	32 Синів Йосифа від Ефраїма, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,

34 Once the pedigrees of Manasseh's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	34 Синів Манассії, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за родинами їхніми, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,

38 Once the pedigrees of Dan's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	38 Синів Дана, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,
39 The total of these for the tribe of Dan was sixty-two thousand seven hundred.	39 порахованих з коліна Дана, 62 700.
40 Once the pedigrees of Asher's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	40 Синів Ашера, нащадків їхніх, порахованих за їхніми родинами, за батьківськими домами їхніми, за числом імен їхніх, поголовно, разом усіх чоловіків від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни,
41 The total of these for the tribe of Asher was forty-one thousand five hundred.	41 порахованих з коліна Ашера, 41 500.
42 Once the pedigrees of Naphtali's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	42
43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 порахованих з коліна Нафталі, 53400.
44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.	44 Оце перечислені, що їх зрахували Мойсей і Арон та дванадцять князів Ізраїля, по одному з кожного батьківського дому.
45 Al the Israelites of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were counted by families.	45 Усіх же порахованих синів Ізраїля, за батьківськими домами їхніми, від двадцятьох років і старше, усіх здатних до війни в Ізраїлі,
46 Altogether, the total came to six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.	46 усіх нараховано 603 550.
47 But the Levites and their tribes were not included in the count.	47 Левітів же, за батьківськими домами їхнього коліна, не пораховано між ними.
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	48 Сказав бо Господь Мойсеєві:
49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,	49 «Тільки Леві коліно не перелічуватимеш і не даси до перепису між синами Ізраїля,
50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.	50 а поставиш їх над храминою свідоцтва й над усім знаряддям її та над усім, що до неї належить. Вони носитимуть храмину і все її знаряддя, вони служитимуть при ній і отаборяться навколо неї.
51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.	51 І коли треба буде переносити храмину, левіти розберуть її; коли ж храмині треба буде зупинитись, левіти поставлять її. Хто ж не з левітів наблизиться до неї, тому смерть.
52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,	52 Сини Ізраїля отаборяться, кожний у своєму таборі і кожний під своїм прапором, за полками своїми.
53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'	53 Левіти отаборяться навколо храмини свідоцтва, бо інакше гнів Божий упаде на громаду синів Ізраїля; левіти вартуватимуть при храмині свідоцтва.»
54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.	54 Вчинили сини Ізраїля все; так, як заповідав Господь Мойсеєві, вчинили вони.
