1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:	1 No primeiro dia do segundo mês, no segundo ano depois da saída do Egito, o Senhor disse a Moisés no deserto do Sinai, na tenda de reunião:
2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites by clans and families, taking a count of the namesof al the males, head by head.	2 "Fazei o recenseamento de toda a assembléia dos filhos de Israel segundo suas famílias, suas casas patriarcais, contando nominalmente por cabeça todos os varões da idade de vinte anos para cima,
3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;	3 todos os israelitas aptos para o serviço das armas: fareis o recenseamento deles segundo os seus grupos, tu e Aarão.
4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.	4 Assistir-vos-á um homem de cada tribo, um chefe da casa de seu pai.
5 'These are the names of those who must help you: For Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur.	5 Eis os nomes daqueles que vos hão de acompanhar: de Rubem, Elisur, filho de Sedeur;
6 For Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.	6 de Simeão, Salamiel, filho de Surisadai;

16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.	16 Tais são os que foram escolhidos da assembléia. Eram os príncipes de suas tribos patriarcais, chefes de milhares em Israel.

19 As Yahweh had ordered, Moses registered them in the desert of Sinai.	19 assim como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés. Fez-se, pois, o recenseamento no deserto do Sinai.
20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	20 Dos filhos de Rubem, primogênito de Israel, seus descendentes segundo suas famílias e suas casas patriarcais, contando seus nomes por cabeça, todos os varões da idade de vinte anos para cima - todos os que eram aptos para o serviço das armas -,
21 The total of these for the tribe of Reuben was forty-six thousand five hundred.	21 foram recenseados 46.500 na tribo de Rubem.

43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 foram recenseados 53.400 na tribo de Neftali.
44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.	44 Estes são os que foram recenseados por Moisés e Aarão com os príncipes de Israel, em número de doze, um homem de cada casa patriarcal.

48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	48 O Senhor havia dito, com efeito, a Moisés:
49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,	49 "Não farás o recenseamento da tribo de Levi, nem porás a soma deles com os filhos de Israel.
50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.	50 Confia-lhes o cuidado do tabernáculo do testemunho, de todos os seus utensílios e de tudo o que lhe pertence. Levarão o tabernáculo e todos os seus utensílios, farão o seu serviço e acamparão em volta do tabernáculo.
51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.	51 Quando se tiver de partir, os levitas desmontarão o tabernáculo e o levantarão quando se tiver de acampar. O estrangeiro que se aproximar dele será punido de morte.
52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,	52 Os israelitas acamparão cada um em seu respectivo acampamento e cada um perto de sua bandeira, segundo suas turmas.
53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'	53 Quanto aos levitas, porém, acamparão em torno do tabernáculo do testemunho, para que não suceda explodir a minha cólera contra a assembléia dos israelitas; ademais, os levitas terão a guarda do tabernáculo do testemunho".
54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.	54 Os israelitas fizeram tudo o que o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés; assim o fizeram.
